Overall, I have to say I am excited to see how the map plays with organized groups on an organized server. It was a bit too difficult to really get a sense of the game play for an actual WvW match as it was simply too chaotic, especially at the start.

The potential I see in the map is that in many ways it will present a greater challenge. Strategic use of terrain will be more important than ever. Where to hide, where to defend, where to attack— essentially, it seems, that for this map, we will need to alter the way we go about WvW. The same old thing we have been doing for years isn’t necessarily going to work. So the question is, will we as WvWers be able to adapt, and, more importantly, will enough of us want to?

Also, coming from a T1 WvW server, I know my server can populate 4 maps, but how will this borderland play with less populated servers?

Ultimately, as my thread title suggests, what I really wonder about is the viability of this map as a replacement for the existing borderland maps. One map like this is HUGE and a ton of confusing, convoluted space to cover. Three is a daunting idea. Why do all three borderlands need to be identical? Why not mix it up? EB, Alpine Borderland, Desert Borderland, etc.

I understand the need for competitive balance, but if one map gives what some might call a competitive advantage to the server that controls it, then why not utilize that as a tool for evening out matches, so that the same server in each tier doesn’t continue to dominate all the time because of better coverage through all time zones.

Just some thoughts.
