In this paiting I created a vision that takes place hundreds of years after the branded corruption took place. While the glowing, purple crystals are still visible in the landscaping, it changed from being a continuous lightning storm into a beautiful morning sun.
I had a lot of fun creating this painting and if it wasn’t for Guild Wars 2, I wouldn’t have tried digital painting myself. Seeing what I’ve created in this first painting I really wonder what I’ll be making several years from now. Only time will tell.
Here’s a little backstory.
===
I always had a difficult time judging MMORPG’s seen my older brother play World of Warcraft day in day out, getting late for dinner and missing important appointments only because he was playing this game. It created a misleading image of MMORPG’s and made me dislike every other MMORPG including Guild Wars 2.
Years later a good friend of mine suggested to try Guild Wars 2.
And after Guild Wars 2 being free to play, there wasn’t really a reason not to. Although still fearful about the state my brother ended up in, addicted to World of Warcraft, I decided to give Guild Wars 2 a go.
My first character was a Sylvari warrior. And I immediately felt in love with the wonderful worlds Guild Wars 2 had to offer.
I really liked exploring every nook and cranny each map had but I had a hard time enjoying the combat the same way I was enjoying the exploration. Playing more and getting better at the game made me less and less discouraged by the combat system. And made my interest in MMORPG’s grow stronger and stronger.
As a designer myself I always loved the concept art of Guild Wars 2 and I wanted to make a homage to this game. Seeing it somewhat change my life and change my misleading image about MMORPG’s. I never done something even close to this but seeing the loading screens ingame just persuaded me to give digital painting a go.
Do you people feel the same way about the game and the artstyle?
