It was the summer of 1060 AE when Liza first visited the cathedral of eternal radiance, which was a temple for the goddess of beauty Lyssa. Her parents decided that as a sixteen year old it’s time she will learn who she was named after. And indeed it was a fit name. Liza was a beauty herself as well. She had a curly blond hair and her body structure was fit. Her eyes were jade – like, green, clear and bright. The sun was half hid behind the clouds and colored the temple’s stone with gold. The ocean breeze was cool and along the semi cloudy sky the weather was perfect for traveling. The temple was placed on a small hill on the northern shore of Orr, combining the beauty of the sky, ocean, and magnificent human building work. It was made of 2 levels; the upper level’s ceiling made of gems and stone, sitting on great pillars and viewing the ocean. But Liza didn’t care much for the upper level; she wanted to see what’s down below.
“Mom?” she said. “Can we go down? I wanna visit the archive’s level”
“I’m not sure were allowed to sweetie.” Her father replied.
“It’s a temple dad, they won’t hurt us if we wonder off to forbidden places, everyone here are priests, come on!”
Liza left her parents and went to find the stairs leading to the lower level, her parents followed, murmuring something about her being a teenager.
The lower lever was carved in the hill, a non-natural cave. It served the priests as a library; Liza never saw so many books in one place. She looked up and tried to count how many books were there, while walking backwards. She counted two dozens of shelves until she bumped into somebody.
“Ouch! Watch where you’re going you idiot!” he yield at her. They both turned around to face each other, the man was going to yell some more but he got stunned by Liza’s beauty.
The man was middle aged, wearing gray blue and green robes, in one hand he held a scroll and in the other he held a great staff with a blue gem in its end.
“I’m sorry dear” he said. “I didn’t mean to yell, you scared me.”
“It’s alright sir; pardon me asking but what does this symbol on your robes mean?”
“This love, is the Orrian emblem, wore only by men of the palace.” He answered.
Liza’s parents only now caught up with them. “We are so sorry if our daughter bothered you Master Khilbron, Liza’s curiosity is almost an illness.”
“Absolutely not! A child’s curiosity is a blessing of the gods, as is this child’s mind.” He answered to them quickly, with a noticeable theme of fury. “Liza is it? If you like, I could take you with me to Arah, teach you the ways of arcane, and the ways of the gods, I don’t believe coincidences happen inside temples, under the gaze of the five.”
Liza’s eyes got somehow brighter, she always wanted to visit Arah, it was said the city was entirely built by the gods, long ago, before humans ever landed a foot on Tyria.
“Mom? Dad? Can I go? Pretty please?”
“Definitely not. You are way too young to leave the house, come now, we should go back up.”
Vizier Khilbron looked disappointed, he turned around again facing a book shelf, he reached for one of the books and started reading quietly. Liza’s hearing was good, she heard what he was saying, his mouth spoke no words; he sounded somewhat different. She and her parents almost reached the stairs when suddenly they both stopped. “Liza my dear, do you want to walk with this man?” her father asked.
“Yes dad! I do! I always wanted to see Arah, and he is offering me the study of magic! Actual magic! Of course I want to go!”
“Then you can go my love.” Her mother said.
Liza got so excited she didn’t even bother to say goodbye, she dashed back to Khilbron and told him she can come with him.
“I’m glad to hear that. Come now, I have a lot to show you, Arah is a perfect place, especially for young and brilliant girls.
