Hello! And welcome to my thread!

This threads purpose is pretty simple: motivation.

I have been drolling over all the fanart people kept posting on these forums for the past 6 months. I enjoy looking at stuff others made and i’ve been daydreaming of the stuff i could create of my characters (as i pretty much love them to death and each of them has a story and background planned out).

The only problem is…that i am pretty lazy and had an art block for the past 4 months,which means i didn’t even touch a pencil in those months.

I have no idea why,but (thanx to the heavens) i got inspired to draw again and did a quick rough sketch of my asura engi today. yay

And i really hope that i can finish the drawings i started 4-5 months ago (and didn’t finish yet).

Thats why i started this thread, so i won’t ‘’give up on drawing again’’. If i get enough practice i might even start taking comissions in the future; thats one of the goals i will work towards. c :

I will post some of the drawings now,feel free to comment.It would make me happy (critique is allways welcome!).

Meet Ai, my little engi who loves explosions; Daetari, my necro, who has been studying the dark arts in hopes of bringing back the ones she loves…one way or another… and Mesremone,my mesmer, who’s true love is and will allways be…gold.

Hopefully i will finish these drawings in the near future.

Don’t give up on drawing again! I humbly entreat ye: keep on arting on, as there are a number of us who enjoy watching the process, be it only practice or not.

And I should say, given the work you’ve shown, I don’t think you’ll need much more practice to tackle commissions.

I absolutely agree with Invertation, your art is clearly already very good. I love the soft lines so far and the little mini-backstories are great, especially the necromancer one.

I just started a drawing of my level 2 newb Elementalist. She is known as AneiraThe Icewitch across Tyria.Just concentrating on forms and shadows atm,not gonna complicate it with colors for the time being.

I also was thinking about accepting 1-2 requests for black and white portraits in a bit,maybe next week.Would like a challenge.

Out of the interests of curiosity, what is your inclination towards Sylvari (or similarly designed characters)? Methinks that might make for an adequate challenge beyond what human designs offer, for sake of the less typical skin patterns and textures.

I actually love sylvari,and yes it would be a challenge drawing one xD

Started working on Minaus just now.Got the rough sketch ready.

Lucky me i have time for drawing now as i feel horrible at the moment xD Everyone seems to be catching a cold lately..me included.

The skin texture and colors will be added later.

Took me a lot of time to finish this.Losing the file with the layers didn’t help ugh.

I am still working on the sylvari drawing,it just got pushed back cuz of the comission.

Hey! These are very good! I’m not familiar with the program you’re using; what is it? Also, artist slumps happen and you shouldn’t feel guilty about having them. I tend to only draw when I’m either really happy or really sad and spend most of my time in between the two with a serious case of the blahs.

You seem to have style down more or less and you blend your shading pretty well! You seem to understand colour and that’s probably one of the hardest things IMO. So you’re doing pretty good!

The only thing I could potentially crit is maybe too much soft shading? Don’t be afraid to have some areas of hard contrast and consider where you might have places of shadow to really give your forms a sense that they’re 3 dimensional. As it is, some of your stuff reads a little flat because they feel like they all get equal amounts of light? I might not be explaining it well.

In any case, you’re doing a pretty good job, hun, so keep it up!

Oh, and if you’re having trouble being inspired to do something but want to keep drawing regularly, maybe try doing drawing exercises instead of trying to do finished pieces or anything clever and inspired. No such thing as too much life drawing practice and it can be pretty mindless so you don’t have to doing any of the work figuring out what to draw, and you still benefit from the practice. I can recommend some resources if you want!
