What do you all think? Does this mega-grind make a player worthy of wielding a legendary weapon?
Personally I view this as the most ridiculous tedious method of obtaining anything in a game. I’m also glad I didn’t dedicate all this grind and time to obtaining one of these (as they are becoming more common)
So it is a ridiculous and tedious grind… but you don’t want one because they are too easy to get?
I think they’re way too easy to get, and there’s zero backstory behind most of them. They’re basically just expensive skins that grant you unlimited power for the life of the game….that sort of power shouldn’t be as cheap as it is right now, and shouldn’t be sold to the highest bidder, either.
They need to make a radical shift in the way they handle these items. Right now, there are lots of MMOs out there that do a better job with epic gear like this. It’s just disappointing.
The only thing failed about them is the way precursors are obtained. And because of that, the price of precursors continues to rise seemingly indefinitely. If they would hurry up and make a precursor scavenger hunt, along with some backstory, this wouldn’t be a problem.
They’re easy to get if you’re a hardcore GW2 player, I guess (or just have money to burn). At the rate I’m going at, I don’t expect to see a Legendary in my hands until maybe after GW3 is released.
I will be honest and say that I will never have a Legendary weapon as is since there is way too much grind just to get a shiny skin for a weapon – some of which even look a bit… silly to be honest . I would like to see quests for some good weapons which could then be evolved into Legendaries for those who want to go down the grind path but which could also be good items for those who are happy with “just” an exotic . This could also help cut the legs out from under the gold farmers who must be loving current state of things.

Yeah, the current iteration of “Legendary” weapons are nothing more than pricy Exotics, IMO.

Personally I’m on the Mystic Clover process and its pretty terrible luck. Not to mention I haven’t got a single rare or ecto since the latest patch. Terrible luck again lol.
He made the PvP badges sound harder then they are…you can get them by killing, but remembering to loot the bags is kind of hard sometimes. Feel it should auto put in your inventory or something. >.< And if you are on a bad WvW server, doing the puzzles probably is easier I would imagine.
Either way, current state of legendaries, even with the multiple outlets of obsidian shards, everything else is painful. Actually the whole process is painful. Gladly I’m just trying to make the pieces out of passing the time, hence why I am on the clovers. Maybe oneday I’ll get somewhere. :P
The two reasons I’m not going after one is because of the Pre-Cursors and because of Mystic Clovers, both need serious changes. What Dontain didn’t explain in the video is how he attained all that gold to make Twilight, guessing was taking handouts from guildies, exploiting broken events like plinx for weeks on end maybe? Or playing the TP like crazy.
I personally was upset there wasn’t anything that was an actual test of skill, I don’t mind the total lack of story behind them, but I mean, c’mon… Being able to literally BUY the entire thing with nothing skill oriented involved? That’s kinda lame…
PS: I don’t mind the grindyness.
legendary weapons should not be made are bought by a player are sold they should be earned and they should of been very hard to earn
as long as there isnt “more” legendaries in the game, they cant make them too easy to get, otherwise everybody will have the same weapon!
legendaries came out too early. if they started implementing them later, maybe november or even after laurels, the they would have cooler grind/requirement.
as is, theyre kittened and a bad design decision.

A bot is more likely to get a legendary than myself.

Precursors are the biggest problem, but mats are too.
Back in GW1 you were required to do FoW/UW to get your FoW armor, now it’s all a big money grind.
In an attempt to not “force” people to do certain hard content they just made it into a gigantic grind (or gem shop purchase).
Imo legendaries are not legendary because they don’t require any legendary task.
If they put a requirement of say soulbound mats that only drop on lvl 50 fractal or at least 15k WvW kills it would have been different because having a legendary would show you’re either a very good PvEer or a very good WvWer.
Currently they just show you are a good grinder.

To obtain them by a simple quest would be way to easy and unfair to those who got them the traditional way…
The precursor system although is another matter… just too lackluster… I got my precursor for the incinerator today and it took me quite some time to get it…
They should still be very hard to get maybe with some kind of tokens so it wouldn’t be lackluster…

You actually don’t have to put any work in a legendary.
I rather a legendary be some sort of accomplishment rather than bunch of asinine tasks. A simple quest would be a very silly way of getting a legendary, I agree, but buying it off the TP is far worse than a simple quest.
How about a series of hard quests, or achievements and some crafting. ANet and this 250 of this and that is so lazy and stupid it makes me wish I never even bought the kittening game, such lack of thought by this team is a slap to the face and the fact I gave these kitteners money pisses me off even more.
The problem being that the entire legendary process is currently monetarily driven. Who gets the legendaries? The lucky, the exploiters, the beggars, the scammers, the jobless, and the resellers.
Being a nice guy or unlucky or hardworking? Nope. You get nothing. Well no, not nothing. You get to contemplate whether you want to respec, repair your gear, or teleport to Orr today because you can’t spare the 3 silver.
