POSITIVE THREAD!

Desolation players only should be posting here. If this thread also gets locked because outsiders want to flame at us, I think we as a server need to look at an external solution. Perhaps one of our big guilds can extend their forums for the server as a whole?

Anyway, VS has alarm clocked our biggest off-peak (EU morning hours), to some point of succes. Current scores as of this writing is attached to this post.

We spend all night and morning defending the orb in VS borderlands, and man what a battle, good job to all who stayed up to defend it. As of now, the keep hasn’t been lost in over 24 hours.

If we wan’t to win this match we’re going to have to put in an all-nighter tonight!

Its going to be close this week, although its been full of drama its also been a great showing of solidarity from Deso. Like you have suggested ive already brought this up a few times, a Deso community forum would be well worth it imo, a great way fro our guilds and server to communicate to each other and easier to moderate than here (I would love to do one but i wouldnt have the time to moderate because of RL commitments)

The best form of moderation, is very light moderation. The real problem is non-deso players gaining acces, so acces should have to be granted manually so only verified deso guild members (and solo players that are ‘known’) could read and post. A lot of effort initially, but it should result in minimal moderation needs in the long run.

I am going to set up a Desolation forum – Through IRON/ There will be little to no moderating, Clincher is you need to register and be accepted, You will contact myself or an officer of IRON and you will be given full access…, keeps out those spies.

I am setting up the DNS now and sub domain this can take up to 24 hours as we use a dedicated host then i will set up the forum.

Forum is up! Filling it with the basics and some simple rules and when it is ready i will launch it when the DNS authorization finishes. Other than that anyone want to make me a header for the forum. Accreditation will be given!

Deso forums sounds like a good idea.

Also, Incredible job everyone! Reading these forums and drinking in the tears of everyone whos crying about well everything related to our stellar rise has been a blast.

Desolation is a Tier 1 server and is here to stay, and dont listen to those weve crushed under our boot, we all worked hard for this. Hard work, tenacity, dedication and teamwork.

The forum has a critical flaw: All sections are publicly viewable and anyone can make an account without verification. Try to atleast lock out the WvW section to confirmed Desolation players.

it’s really hard to actually proove ur from the server or not. implementing a system like that will take a while. only thing i can think of for now is this: have certain sub-forums only viewable by a certain user-group that has been confirmed by guild-leaders/officers. those in turn would have to send me some sort of ingame confirmation of them playing on deso.

I did think about implementing this straight away, but its just soooo much hassle that I have decided to push it back until we have a bit of a userbase to start with. Something like a deso-player-only area will definitely be implemented though! (its just gonna take time)
