Interesting. You have some interesting features (sound notification, customization, and of course chains of events).

Most other dragon timers are wrong, because they don’t take in consideration the chain of events. I’m not interested in “shadow behemoth is occuring right now”, but, indeed, on the start of the first pre-event.

What’s really missing on your tool in my humble opinion :
- the time aspect and the time window clearly shown for each main event (that means, know the time window of each main event, store the timestamp when the event ends and then show a counter stating how much time before the next window, in addition to the real state given by the api)
- maybe something a bit more graphical (even if the page is clean and nice looking)
- the checkboxes “already did done that one today” would be a plus

Timers are planned, and the “hardest” part already done, have to figure out how to display them.

As for the “checkboxes” i plan to redesign the save/load part so it will be possible to achieve what you are saying.

I think i will try to stay with the clean design, but I know i still need to fix some stuff so it will be better looking.

First of all editor needs some more love, since is still a bit unwieldy.

Love your site and have been using it for a few days now.
Today I noticed the auto update doesn’t seem to be working anymore which I assume isn’t intended. Then it seemed to work in another tab with the old one still open.
Just thought I’d let you know in case you didn’t already.
Oh and I use Chrome if you for some reason wanted to know that.

Hmm thanks for the info.
Could you please tell me if you were running the site for few days without refresh? A friend told me about the same issue, but he said he was running it for a whole day. So i suspect is a browser problem.

I will investigate further and try to make a workaround, or at least a notification telling you that the site was not updated for a long time. Until then refresh the site every few hours, or at least each day.

I don’t remember exactly, but I’m pretty sure it was a newly opened tab. I do however think the browser itself hadn’t been restarted in a long time so there could be something there.
It seems to be working fine right now though.

One side note : i think it would be really helpfull to have the “global state” of the event showing the state of sub-events.
Right now i’m doing the fire elemental world boss. That event has no state on the site (gray box) whereas the last event is “active” (once unfolded). It would be easier to have a special state on the main active for that (something like “in progress” and only depending on any sub-event being active)

Updated to v0.4
This week i had little less time, but the save/load change took considerate amount of work. Slowly I am getting to the finished version. I still need to do some graphical changes, rework the editor since is still unwieldy and finally implement the timer showing elapsed time since the last event status change. Also possibly a mini “how to use” manual

@SRG:
I was thinking about this, however i do not want too much information clutter, since than it will become messy, that is why i did the little yellow bells, that indicate where the last alarm came from. (ex.: when a preevent becomes active, and if you have that specific preevent alarm ON the sound will play and the yellow bell will show up on the main event indicating that the alarm came from there). Also if you are looking at a specific event chain, you can have it unfolded and see the status of all preevents. And with the editor you can completely change the event trees to your liking (but i know the editor is not really user friendly atm)

So bad about the global state, i’ve missed a lot of events with your timer due to this lack of global state (i’ll probably have to make my own timer some day, but yours is the closest of what i would do on my side)

On a side note, sometimes it is totally unsync-ed.
For example right now : it shows “warmup” on “Destroy the chaotic materials created by the reactor meltdown.” whereas the event is already finished (and was correctly shown on the guild wars temple dragon timer). I don’t know why, i suppose your refresh rate is probably quite fast enough … maybe a flag stuck somewhere for a few events.

Maybe i do not really understand what you have in mind with global state, however you can put alarm on the preevent, and it will play the ding sound when that specific preevent becomes active (click on the small speaker right of the preevent name), and also the yellow bell will show up next to the main event. Example: fire elemental dies in matter of seconds, so its too late to go there if you wait only for the main event, so i have the sound alarm set on the 2nd preevent “Escort the C.L.E.A.N. 5000 golem while it absorbs clouds of chaos magic.” so i have enough time to get there.

As for the synced, i have refresh on 10secs which i think is fast enough. However as Lerre already reported sometime it stops refreshing for no apparent reason (did not yet happen to me, might be a browser problem). Thats why i plan to implement something that shows you the time passed since last refresh so you can see how “fresh” the data is.

Update regarding the auto update issue. After some reading and testing, it seems there is a problem if you have multiple browser tabs open to this site (or possibly to others that do the same api request). I noticed if i open 3 tabs to dragons.udba.org on some of the tabs the refresh will not work. I will implement a “lag timer” that will tell you the elapsed time since last update. That way you will at least know that something is not OK.

I recently switched to Firefox from Chrome and they don’t seem to work together. I can’t get the sound queue to activate no matter what I do. The auto refresh also doesn’t work at all.
I see you have a note about IE, maybe you should add one for Firefox as well unless it works fine for others using it.

Hey there,
first of all, very well done work. I like the timer, it has nearly everything needed.

But I wont write here, if there wasn’t something that bothered me.
On the first look, you can’t see the state of the overall event without opening the preevent ladder.
Yes I know you can just add an alarm for the preevents but a small helpful visual option would be SOOO great.
An Idea that came to my mind was the following:
Just add a new column, between the event name and the Status with some small little boxes. These boxes are representing the preevents. (so one event may have 2 boxes, while the biggest one has 7 as I have seen).
These boxes are filled with colours depending on the status of the preevent. For example if I find 5 boxes, 2 are green, 1 is yellow, and 2 are white I would know, that 2 of 5 preevents have succeded and the 3rd is ongoing.
You can change the colours of course but my first try would be: Cross = fail; White (empty) = inactive; Green = succeess; Yellow = could be active or warmup; Blue = whatever…
What about that idea?
Greetings Ramses II
