Wow that is stunning. Thank you for sharing.
Beautiful. I got chills.
Thanks for sharing this. The actual song is great in both languages. But the end of that video, was more than little silly.
Holy Hand-grenades!
That was pretty stunning.
Quidquid Latine Dictum Sit, Altum Videtur
After watching the video, all I can think about now is, “Zhaitan better be returning for an actually boss fight, if they are using him in their advertisements when he is suppose to be already ‘dead’ (lore-wise) when the game launches in China.”
China is starting their game at s2 of the LS, timeline-wise. The PS and Zhaitan’s death happened before s1 started.
I don’t like how it used old sylvari footage, otherwise it’s nice. :x
They still got a lot of the lyrics wrong, but nice interpretation nonetheless.
I like this one better, it’s more pure, simple and untreated, though lower in key.
“Obtaining a legendary should be done through legendary feats…
Not luck and credit cards.”
I’m chinese myself and it sounds a little strange when the title song is sung in chinese.
Not that its bad, just … unfamiliar.
Personally, though i prefer the non-vocal instrumental piano version.

It somehow gives me a very very melancholic yet calming and also a
very “This is it, this is the final battle, we either leave victorious or die here”
feel as compared to the vocal versions.
Give us Mounts, Anet! Pretty Please with Chocolate, Whipped Cream, Cherry and Mayonnaise? d^_^b
The song sounds really nice in Chinese, and I like the video too although it’s an odd mix of footage.

If you mean the bit where a live actor suddenly turns into an in-game character that’s from the American trailer/commercial, which was even weirder. That was the only bit of in-game footage in the whole thing, the rest was people in the real world in modern day running around and spray painting ‘out time is now’ on walls.
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
Lovely! Absolutely lovely. Unpretentious and beautiful.
Now, are the German, Spanish and French versions also?
They still got a lot of the lyrics wrong, but nice interpretation nonetheless.
I don’t know what exactly you find wrong about the lyrics. But I would like to say that, especially, when it comes to song and poetry the most correct translation and lyrics would be one that chooses words and phrases that match the cadence and tempos of the music the best. You aren’t going to be able to match all of literal meaning, dialect, rhythm, and cadence perfectly a song translation, but since it is a song, you better pay the most attention to the musical components.
That was beautiful. Whenever I see things like that it reminds me why I like the game. Not that I need the reminder.
Would you like some hard cheeze with your sad whine?
Oh China Players will get so disapointed when they reach the “amazing!” Zhaitan!
I can still remember back in 2012, i can’t still deal with how it could have been much better, ANet really end up on a train wreck with the story mode.
I Hope it doesn’t repeat on the next expansion story mode.
Asura thing.

I sort of liked that they blended the idea of the “our time is now” trailer into it – but what really struck me at that point was – they couldn’t (or didn’t) make the norn character look asian …
Just a little detail.
“Whose Charr is this?”- “Ted’s.”
“Who’s Ted?”- “Ted’s dead, baby. Ted’s dead.”
They still got a lot of the lyrics wrong, but nice interpretation nonetheless.

I suppose you could always ask Ree Soesbee.. after all, they’re her lyrics.

Actually the Chinese lyrics are masterfully written imho. The language used is very elegant and is more sophisticated than most pop songs nowadays. Then again I rarely listen to Mandopop now anyway.
As for the lyrics matching the cadence and the rhythm of the music, I have to say its very good. No offense to the singer, but I imagine it would be more powerful in the hands of a seasoned performer – the Chinese equivalent of Asja?

I feel quite differently. I love the way this singer (anyone know her name?) performs it. It sounds natural and she has a lovely voice. Being soft and slightly lower in tone, it feels more ‘motherly’ to me. This is supposedly a some the Avatar of the Pale Tree sings and for me this voice and the manner of the performance fits.
I feel like a more heavy Sylvari emphasis could have been implemented.

You know… I really wish that we had more in game cinematics (like that norn charging towards Zhaitan) than what we currently have.

Don’t get me wrong, its not the tone or style of the singer I am commenting on. I am no expert in music or singing, but the performer is not powerful enough to deliver the lines. If Anet managed to get a pro to sing the song, the delivery would be greatly different.
