GW 2 in WoW
That’s actually a really funny video.
That’s what is considered innovation now. The maker of that video must have been mad about GW2 dumbing down MMOs even more than WoW has.
That’s a pretty enjoyable video, yet, incredibly sad at the same time… Not just for WoW, but for GW 2 as well.
The same could really be done using GW 2 as a video, and it would look just as sad, probably less entertaining too.
Only Better…
Went back to WoW when expansion was released…to a dead world. Apparently, my server totally died and I was only one in Org.
It would have cost me around 250 bucks to move my chars to a server that was not dead. Suffice to say, I uninstalled WoW about 4 days later. Bored and lonely ftl.
You can hate on GW2 all you want but I think each has it’s pluses and minuses. Now all you wow fan boys out there, that’s cool. I played for 7 years straight! But no more, it’s to old for me.

WoW is actually trying it’s hand at open world content for the first time so that’s what I found funny about this video because I just read about that the other day LOL
I like events but as the video indicates, it is truly not dynamic and seeing the same content for a year in this game is the problem and LS is so not the solution.
Prelaunch every interview was about how they’d add totally new events to the world in all of the lower and mid level zones every month so we would never have to worry about the world becoming stagnant or empty. If I had known then what I know now….

Are you even reading what you’re saying. Pre-launch EVERY interview was about? Are you saying no interview didn’t mention that, or wasn’t about anything else.
Because I remember some of those interviews. They didn’t say eventually we’d be adding hundreds of events. They did add 30 someodd events back in November. They added 3 jumping puzzles too.
And guess what? Most people neither noticed or cared, with the one exception of the skritt burgler.
So maybe, just maybe they though, okay we added this stuff and it didn’t get much traction, let’s try something else.
It’s what an intelligent company would do, don’t you think?

There’s nothing wrong with Guild Wars 2, it’s either for some people, or not for them, it’s not up to you to decide that. You’re right though, it does have it’s pro’s, and con’s. No game can be perfect, games are weird like that… They can’t “grab” everyone, on second thought… It’s mankind itself that’s weird… Everyone liking, and disliking different things… Such is the way of mankind, no one particular human being is exactly the same.
After the first expansion of WoW came out, I just flat up quit, when I realized it was nothing more then a couple of races that could become the opposing factions classes (Blood Elf, and Dragon thingy). Totally in my mind made me lose interest. I won’t go on explaining how WoW killed itself for me, because it’s not a WoW forum. Needless to say, a year or so, was all I could give it.
Guild Wars 2 is awesome, I totally respect everything they do, however, they’re simply no matter how you look at it, “Spinning their wheels”. Nothing new happens, Guild Wars 2 remains endlessly boring to those who expect something different from a game, but instead, get to the point where they finally think they’ll experience something entertaining (max level), and find out, nothing has changed, nor nothing will change.
Everyone is different from one another, but you can’t deny the fact that the “Virtual” world is simply an escape for everyone. What happens when your “Escape” suddenly becomes the same routine as your everyday life? Well, boredom is what happens.
As I stated, Guild Wars 2 is awesome, they’ve done something new and innovative, props to them. However without so called “Vertical Progression”, the game, nor ArenaNet are doing themselves any justice. Eventually everyone will leave Guild Wars 2, it’s simply a matter of how long the player is willing to wait for something to change.
Anyways, it’s just my thoughts. Maybe wiping my Lvl 80’s, and making anew would change that opinion. I wonder….

Many of us stay here because there is very little vertical progression. Guild Wars 1 ran for 7 years and sold 7 million copies and had no vertical progression.
Okay, that was funny.
Very funny video but also shows up what gw2 needs to improve like those loading screens between zones
Lol hit the nail on the head

You’re still here? I thought you quit yesterday. You shouldn’t quit the game and keep posting on the forums you know; that’s just rude.
WoW sure is an ugly looking game.

Nah; just old. Like a faded photograph or tarnished penny. Back when it was new it was down right beautiful, but standards change and technology progresses. Doesn’t make it ugly; just….old.

Uprising, you couldn’t hurt my feeling if your tried. Keep trolling, you’re only wasting your own time.

Honestly I think everyone would rather have WoW quests over how GW2 does it, there is barely any lore attached to hearts and dynamic events, stuff just… happens.
I heard WoW was bleeding subs like no tomorrow, but the way they keep working the GW2 forums they must really be hurting
Honestly I think everyone would rather have WoW quests over how GW2 does it
You are incorrect sir. And there is lore connect to the events, you just have to pay attention because no NPC is going to run up and stick a copy of their dairy in your face and demand you read it.
Ooh, I’ve got a video too!

Hmm what would Arkham Creed say in this situation, “that is your subjective opinion, learn to keep it to yourself.”
See how that’s annoying?

Actually it isn’t a subjective opinion. You see you presented a theory, namely that everyone would prefer the WoW style of questing. I responded by saying you are incorrect because I just so happen to be a part of everyone, and I do not prefer WoW style questing. Thus your theory was objectively wrong.
Don’t get into a battle of intelligence with me Uprising; you are not equipped for the challenge.
It isn’t WoW that GW2 has to worry about. I got a video too.

BaG is a hypocrite and has no idea what he is talking about half the time. He even makes stuff up to try and prove his point, when everyone has already called him on his bs. He has hated on GW2 since before it was launched. So naturally he is going to favor other games over GW2 all the time and try to compare how much better they are than GW2, with all his false information and hypocrisy.
He sits here and says that GW2 only has 8 dungeons and the different variations on how you can do them doesn’t count. Then he goes on about how ArchAge has only 4 classes, yet you can spread them out in different variations and that is perfectly fine. He’s a hypocrite. I wouldn’t take anything he says seriously.
Lady Bethany Of Noh – Chronomancer – Lords of Noh [LoN]
That is just an excuse for games that can’t do both. ArcheAge will be more than just a sandbox.

To be fair, the dungeon paths do coincide with each other a lot of the time. But yeah, BaG is a terrible thing to post. Not just for an argument, but just for any reason at all. Other than to incite rage.

I was just posting that as a joke mainly. I know all about AA, been following it for a long time. I make my own opinions on games and though that one looks to have great promise it could very will be a kitten on release here.

I hated WoW quests, so obviously everyone wouldn’t want to have them. In fact, WoW quests were mostly ignored my most people. That is to say, people would skip the wall of text. I know a whole lot of people who didn’t like quests at all and only played WoW to level through the game to get to raiding. So no, most people wouldn’t necessarily like WoW quests better, when you consider how many people skipped WoW quests or hated leveling in WoW.

I hated WoW in general. Funny thing about that was when I started playing that game I had just came from EQ and started grinding mobs for levels when I started. I was stuck in that whole grinding for AA’s thing. My god that was horrible.

You mean everyone as in just yourself? Then you’d be correct.
I cannot go back to normal quests ever again. If a game has normal quests then they have to have some sort activity or something along with it like voice overs. But static kill ten rats quests that you get a from a pop up box? Hell no.
WoW sure is an ugly looking game.
Nah; just old. Like a faded photograph or tarnished penny. Back when it was new it was down right beautiful, but standards change and technology progresses. Doesn’t make it ugly; just….old.
eh maybe, I always thought it looked ugly, like really repulsive
When people complain about the game not being “dynamic enough”, I cringe a bit.
First, let’s have Merriam-Webster look at it:
http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/dynamic
Definition of DYNAMIC
1 also dy·nam·i·cal
a : of or relating to physical force or energy
b : of or relating to dynamics (see dynamics)
2 a : marked by usually continuous and productive activity or change <a dynamic city>
b : energetic, forceful <a dynamic personality>
3 of random-access memory : requiring periodic refreshment of charge in order to retain data
Obviously 2a is the best fitting definition because most of the rest relate to energy and even the one about RAM does too (in an odd way).
So, how are the GW2 Dynamic Events not “continuous and productive activity or change”? Many times they change the NPC’s in the area, adding a unique vendor, cleaning out a certain camp of mob spawns for a time, setting up a friendly front camp, spawning a unique boss, or what have you. What’s interesting about these Dynamic Events is that they’re not static, always-there quests like in WoW (or the up coming Wildstar), where an NPC just stands there with a ‘!’ above it’s head.
That’s what makes DE’s dynamic is that they either randomly show up to change things, or in many cases are triggered by something that the player does (like talking to an NPC, picking up an object, killing something they shouldn’t have, etc.).
ON TOPIC of the video: I’d give it a 4 out of 10. Why? Because they way over emphasis hate into GW2 and show too many flaws in their script.
1) First off is that the NPC’s that run up to you asking for assistance do so as part of Dynamic Events that almost always involve action (like the farmer who has ninja-bandits stealing his livestock in Queensdale and you’re asked to help fight off the ninja-bandits….they were ninjas, right?). Only on the Hearts are like ancient quests where they have mundane tasks like watering cows or picking apples or whatever; and even those have multiple tasks players can perform, which also have action fighting as one of those.
2) The part about the loading screen is completely out of context to the game related to it. Notice that WoW’s graphical settings were optimized very low so that it would allow for near-seamless content. However, GW2 is optimized for high-end and medium end machines built within the last 3-5 years, and it has HD settings that make it’s painting looking art style just eye-watering beautiful. Do note that WoW has a load screen for every continent, every dungeon, every raid.
Honestly I think everyone would rather have WoW quests over how GW2 does it, there is barely any lore attached to hearts and dynamic events, stuff just… happens.
While I agree that some things could be added for one-time quests (some parts of creating Legendary weapons, for example), I can’t say I prefer WoW style quests for most parts.
For example, escort quests (especially where you got to wait for one person to finish the quest before you can do it), ‘enemy is causing trouble by standing around so kill x amount of them’ quests (having them actually attack the place with fail states and the NPC’s actually helping to drive them off as opposed to just standing there is much more immersive).
I also disagree that Scouts, Hearts and Events (and by proxy, the areas they take place in) have barely any lore. Just because there is a lack of long blocks of text, it doesn’t mean there is a lack of lore. The Scouts, Hearts and Events help to tell the lore of the area they are in.
Time is a river.
The door is ajar.

Yeah…. no, dynamic events>boring quests anyday anytime.
I heard WoW was bleeding subs like no tomorrow, but the way they keep working the GW2 forums they must really be hurting
What do you mean you “heard” don’t you practically live on MMO-Champion?
Anyways WoW could bleed subs for another 8 years and still have more active players than GW2.
On topic, that video is pretty kitten funny.

Keep in mind that was not a video to showcase wow’s graphics. While outdated they also use a different art style than gw2, but for 7 year old game when cranked up the graphics are not bad.
WoW is actually a good looking game if your system can handle ultra @ 60+ fps. Only real downside is the character models, which I hear they are working on – side note, the new races look great.
Graphics don’t mean squat if the game isn’t fun, seriously, ever play Crysis?
Graphics don’t mean squat if the game isn’t fun
In that case, WoW loses on both counts!

I’m sure the only reason you don’t play WoW is because super expensive sub fee it has.
I dont play wow cause they made a good game into a f…ing pandas fighting dinossaurs with pokemons, whats next patch sharks from space?
Wotlk was still good but not as burning cruzade good, after that expo is just kittened content…
