Guild Wars 2

Gotta say.. I find the whole "score" thing pretty trivial as a lot of critics just seem to use it to be "controversial" by giving a good game a mediocre/substandard/low score, just so people will go to their little site.

So I’m glad there are people like Yahtzee around that simple point out a games flaws.. why they’re considered such and then compare them to other standards of the market.

While he didn’t touch on what to do with the "over abundance" of skill point (IE: buy legendary weapon) at the same time, he does touch on many things that are simply annoying or glaringly obvious "bad/trivial ideas" in GW2.

My personal fav is how the combat works into the dynamic events and makes you feel like nothing really matters and that there is no real over lining point to the "story" or actually feeling like you are indeed on an "epic journey".

For anyone that’s reached Orr, this is as obvious as the hoard of "non-threatening" zombies that populate the zone.

IE: not epic in the slightest...

no1 is afraid to point out GW2’s flaws. in fact, it’s giving WoW such a run for its money that everyone and their grandma is finding something to complain about just to bring it down to WoW’s level. Yahtzee liked the game, actually.

by now, ANet is aware of all the flaws and theyre busy as hell trying to incorporate the feedback. cant wait for the first big patch.

I dont have any problem with a proper review that discusses the pluses and minuses of a game. Yahtzee is not one of those proper reviewers whose opinion I could respect. He outs himself as not being a fan of MMO’s right at the beginning.

Several reviews that have a negative slant to them are also written by those who have similar issues. A critic at forbes who wrote about the PvE weaknesses of GW2 admitted at the start of his article that hes not a PvE fan but prefers PvP .

Well then …. write what you know about. Someone who writes a negative review about something he is consistantly negative towards is obviously not a person whose opinion will matter to me. A troll is a troll….. whether it be in chat , in the forums , or in a supposedly legitimate article.

At the end of the day, when all is said and done… the crittics reviews are in, the rankings made, numbers/stars posted……

It means absolutely nothing. It’s just someones personal opinion. Nothing more. If you like the game great, keep playing. If you find some problems and issues, great report them. If you can’t stand the game, great go play a different one.

We have all watched moves, and played games, that we liked or disliked, reguardless of what the “paid opinion makers” (ie: critics) have said.

Too many people act like what comes out of mouths of critics, is the word of some deity. Opinions are like… well you get the point.

Well I haven’t heard of him, but people say he’s there to just bash games and be entertaining when doing it, not a fully serious review.

It was a surprisingly good review from Yahtzee. Even games he likes he only grudgingly admits he likes towards the end of the review after he’s already badmouthed all the things he doesn’t like about the game. In this review he mostly talks about the improvements GW2 makes over WoW & other similar games. That’s about all you could expect out of a reviewer that admits from the get-go that he doesn’t care for MMORPG’s as a rule.

Personally, I like the cut of his gibberish. He’s a funny dude with a good sense of timing and a funny cartoon.
