…because when I look at amazing fanart threads, I want to draw fanart. And when I try to draw fanart, it comes out something like the picture below. When it comes out like the picture below, I get frustrated due to my lack of awesome. And when I get frustrated due to my lack of awesome, I reduce the number of bunnies in Tyria. I probably should stop reducing the number of bunnies in Tyria, and go back to my fanfiction writing today.

If you like drawing, you shouldn’t stop.
Everyone has to start somewhere. You could watch some helpful guides on youtube or take a look at deviantart. There are a lot of tutorials which will help you get better. And i’m sure people are fed up with it and everyone heard it many times already, but practice will get you to that ‘’awesome level’’ .

Also you already have a pretty good understanding of the facial structure, maybe a color guide would help you with the contrast and shadows.

And as proof that everyone has to start somewhere i attached a drawing i made when i was 14. xDD I loved drawing back then and i have at least 150 drawings of this…quality level. lol

Thanks! I actually do better when I do traditional art, as the one above was a ~30 minute digital sketch. But, like you said, I will need to practice more to increase my skill in this format. It’s unusual, but quite fun- and I love the “undo” button. xD

I have glanced at some “how-to” tutorials on DA, but the way they do it implies that they use a different program than what I have. It’s still a good base, though. Thanks for the encouragement!

I hope that you, too, will continue drawing! I would love to see how your skills have improved over time.
