Guild Wars 2

I’ve loved the Vigil since launch. My main character joined them to fight Zhaitan and I’ve always been interested in their role as a supranational military force. Though their role is as the main body of the military forces of the Pact, the Vigil is also responsible for brokering the peace between Kryta and the charr, so the influence they wield is massive.

I wrote this short story to celebrate the Vigil, to celebrate what it means to be a soldier of Tyria. Some must fight so that all may be free

Last Vigil stars Jehanni, a warmaster of Elonian descent and former Seraph, who commands a small Vigil security force in the Maguuma Wastes. While hungry for glory, she’s also made friends with the asura research krewe under her protection and when orders force her to choose between her desires and her duty, what does a soldier of the Vigil do?

I’m publishing this short story as I wrote so if the writing style feels rough and unpolished, that is sort of the point. I didn’t want the story to get lost in the editing process (as much of my work often does) and, while the story is admittedly full of cliches, I did so knowingly in celebration of those cliches and what makes Guild Wars great.
