I’m very interested in seeing the widespread repercussions of ANet allowing certain types of DPS meters. A buddy of mine has already experienced “DPS discrimination”. Whether this will be a positive or negative thing… Only time will tell

Well people have the right to play with who they want. If they want people that can pull more of their weight and do more dps, I don’t see why they can’t play with those people. I know Guilds have reqs to be able to be in the guild, why not party reqs.

I feel like people will be less inclusive of others. They can now shun/shut people off that don’t fit their DPS requirements. I understand the reason behind why someone would do that, but I don’t think it’s right. Let’s see how the PvE community is in a couple of months. I could be wrong

No, just no. kittenty idea. Multiple MMOs I’ve played have practically died because it only became a ‘more DPS’ race. (Largest example: Star Trek Online)

Screw. That. If this sees large spread I’m going to petition ANet to ban addons like those – it will only kill the community and with it the game. (Also, the meta issues we have those days will pale in comparison then)

There is no debate over whether dsp meters are a “positive or negative thing,” for a MMO. DPS meters always create a more toxic gaming community. People already have a right to play with whoever they want kamedin, a dps meter will not change that but it will lead to real-life arguments, resentment, in-group fighting, party kicks, party dropping, and a more widespread elitism mentality that will exclude more and more people from just having fun in a video game. Anyone that thinks an MMO needs a dps meter on other players needs a real-life reality check to remind them that this is just a video game.
