The idea is to play vs and with other solo queuers, not full premades

To be concise, the idea is that solo/duo queue would only ever play against other solo/duo queue, and team queues would only ever play against other team queues. As it stands right now, these two end up playing each other. Some report it to be frequently, and some report it to be infrequent. Above all, I don’t think it’s fun for either side when they get mismatched like this.

Like I said, it already exists. You can Q with 4 people and get 1 as a pug, this has always existed in free tournaments, and now all tournaments are free, therefore it exists in all tournaments.

The " new " MMR system adjusts for it as well, but the reason people are crying and saying they’re playing premades is becuase the MMR is brand new and fresh, the system hasn’t adjusted to your skill level yet, so obviously you’re going to play people with skewed results.

Right now we have our 1 round rating and 3 round rating, we want to change this for our solo rating and our team rating.

It’s true MMR will help alleviate things, but it won’t solve it at all. If you are on the top of the solo queue spectrum, you will eventually end up being matched up against more and more team queue. Even then, just the 1 in 5 for an example chance of playing against a team as a solo queue team is a frustrating experience regardless if you are equally likely to win.

This is actually already my own experience as I’ve won almost every solo queue game and now it only seems like I play against other premades. Which even if we win is just not fun. It’s not fun on the other side either, as I’ve never had fun playing with a team against those that did not queue as a team because it’s a completely different game experience.

Team MMR and Solo MMR is a whole different beast, and need to be separated as well. While I’m sure there are some formulas that can help alleviate it, unless there is a specific factor that measures your additional rating when playing with specific teammates it is still going to be inaccurate. It seems silly to lose your team MMR in a sense, just because you were solo queuing and ended up playing against other premades.

As it stands, what we want is not in the game and will not be solved even as MMR becomes more spread out.

Solo queue is the only thing needed at the moment to attract most players into PvP.
When the PvP playerbase grow to a big enough size. Duo queue can be a good thing to have. But not now.

I think it’s redundant with matchmaking and hotjoin. The question is kinda biasing though. I wouldn’t say no I don’t want it, but I’d rather the devs focus their limited resources on other things

If they’re getting custom arena’s functional. Then they don’t need solo queue.
Just set up a r20~99 restriction when the rooms created…

I don’t see why we don’t just scrap 3-round for a dedicated solo/duo 1-round alternative, and make the current 1-round be pre-made only. Of course, I understand that pre-made will effectively have all of ten teams in it playing, but at least we’d have a much better environment for solo/duo than we do now. (I don’t really have an opinion one way or the other atm, though, since my solo-q experience has been pretty decent… because I suck. >.>)

Admittedly, I understand the fear here, though. If they do split the queues, there’s going to be a barren wasteland where pre-mades go because we currently don’t have a large, stable population to split over solo/duo (which is most of us) and full teams (which is not many of us). Of course, one could just as easily say that the pre-mades are likely bored out of their mind crushing solo/duo pugs… but then they’d be just as bored out of their minds waiting in queue for someone to show up or from playing the same team, with the same comp, for the nth time.

I honestly don’t know just how good “the good” solution is at the moment.

Either way, full teams are either going to have an easy match or no match at all most of the time, with the occasional team finding their way into play. The solo queuers will be happy but one could argue that once the ratings settle, that they’d be happy anyway with the occasional “uh oh” moment if they start getting too good. (Which one could argue would be a kick to the kitten to get a move on on making a team.)

When they release the in-game scoreboards, we’re going to quickly be able to deduce where a good solo-q ranks even if its not at the top.

It does not. The game does not have a solo Q friend. It has a join solo button. Which can put you against full or partial premades.

I have said it before and got flamed a lot. 5 high MMR solo queurs VS 5 high MMR pre-mades does not mean instant lose. Yes, premades will use TS/skype and can choose the 5 classes to play with. But in this meta the change that u get a solid team (talking about classes (not 5 bunker) is like 100%. Splitting it could be a little bit better, but its nothing game breaking.

What happens is anyone joining solo needs to lose for a while until their rank is so low that they are less likely to face premade.

Do you really think that people want to play in mode where they need to lose like 50 times in order to have a CHANCE at getting a competitive match?

Also the population is so low that the only way to keep queue times at any reasonable level is to match pre-mades vs pugs. That is going to happen no matter how much time the MMR takes to settle.

how would you want to do it? let solo players to play only against another solo players? if yes, what to do with duos? how you will make a 5v5 match from duos? only way is match solos/duos together… and if you do, will you discriminate friends who are 3 and dont let them play together? and if you dont, who will you match with them when you need team of 5 and solos/duos are separated? this is too complex problem, its not only “implement solo/duo queues”… and this becomes much harder then you take 4 player teams, solos dont want to play against team, but how you will get team of 5 from 4 players? they just need 1 solo player to match with them…

let me expand: you can’t build up if your foundation is weak. what is the foundation of pvp? solo players. a good experience for them will ensure that they keep coming back. then you have a player base on which to build teams, other queues, other gameplay types. without them, there is nothing.

You cant have duo in with solo otherwise the ratings will be incorrect. Those queuing with a friend will have a significant advantage. So it will become: whoever queues with a friend most often has the highest rating.

Solo Q is needed atm. And for guildless, not hardcore players it’s a good idea. But if PvP in this game would be near a complete state and not in this Alpha-state, where A-net has to remove tickets and don’t know how to handle QP’s, it would never appear.

Would you put the PvE-Players in a more competitive and probably demoralizing enviroment ?
Play with them in unrated frees. Hopefully in 1-round ones in the future.
Make the 3-round-frees a 1-round-free. With less time for a map change, not 1 week.
