Seriously, this is even better than Elder Scroll: Skyrim. Just release a 800-Gem music pack onto the Gem Store that allows the players to hear this one in combat!
I’m sorry but the main theme is just 100000x better than The Saga of the Norn.
The main theme is one of my favourite pieces, it captures the almost despairing tone of a lot of the GW1 music and delivers it on an epic scale. It’s beautiful.
Funny, I always thought the first track was the official GW2 theme. At least that’s the track they used for most of their promo-material.
I agree though that it’s one of the best game-soundtracks out there. Jeremy Soul sure knows his stuff.
But to be honest, this stuff was written 6 years ago and I doubt they’ll change anything about it now.
^— They’re working on adding new music to the game, and each new campaign in GW1 came with it’s own main theme which was subsequently used on the character login screen. So things can change xD.

Do you know who will be doing the newly added music?
I think the same group (Leif Chappelle and Maclaine Diemer, possibly others?) who have been doing a lot of the more recent additions (e.g. Wintersday, Halloween, Dragon’s Bash, Scarlet’s Theme etc.). I’m not sure if that includes new tracks by Jeremy or not?
But I would assume that when the expansion is released (and they’ve confirmed they are working on one), that Jeremy Soule would be doing the bulk of the soundtrack for it.
I’ve actually enjoyed some of the music since soule left.
I’ve liked all the new music. I think it’s even had more personality than the Soule stuff (and I do like the Soule stuff, enough that 4 of the cd’s in my car cd player are the soundtrack).
Given all the stuff that’s come to light from Soule’s company DirectSong, though, I’d rather at this point that he wasn’t involved. The original soundtrack gets somewhat repetitive in tone and I’ve started to feel he sort of phoned in on the composition. Obviously ANet has access to real musical talent; let’s keep on with that.
(I am not saying Soule doesn’t have real talent. Only that so do other people).

What’s this stuff about DirectSong? Whatever went down seems to have slipped past my radar
Yikes did a bit of digging. Not good O_o.
They don’t have GW2 listed on their website anymore (assume they did) so I imagine he’s attempting to distance himself from it as much as possible. The soundtracks that are there, GW1, are digital download – so obviously they’ve had a lottttt of problems with shipping physical copies.

This is the only Jeremy Soule track I like. The rest are forgettable.
…Leif Chappelle and Maclaine Diemer…
Chappelle and Diemer – what horrid choices! What do a comedian and the founder of a car company have to do with music?!?!?
:D

Have you listened to Crystal Oasis? First Light is also pretty magical.
I will agree that a lot of his tracks end up sounding like carbon copies, but Crystal Oasis is amazing.
