Guild Wars 2

If it’s one thing I’ve seen many people say it’s that they don’t know what to do in Guild Wars 2, and that they are lost, and find it boring. Because of all this, and partly with the fact that for most casual players, and those who aren’t interested in raids, or PVP, this term of us being in a “content drought” seems to become evermore so popular.

Hence, I decided to take some time and actually talk about this issue, and discuss the different types of players that play Guild Wars 2, and how one should identify themselves as one to make the game more fun. Guild Wars 2 has many opportunities to make your own goals, and allows you to play how you want to play, which is what makes it so great, but if you don’t know what type of player you, and don’t have any goals, it can get rather stale pretty quickly.

Are you an explorer, story nerd, grinder, achiever, a participant of Fashion Wars, etc? And have you finished all your goals?

You’ll find people fit multiple categories. I hit most of those groups.

Explorer (primary motivation: curiosity): While I delve around maps every now and then, I mostly satisfy this urge by digging into the item/skin databases and seeing what I can learn. I also log mystic forge experiments (mainly, which items can go in)

Grinder (progression): There’s a lot to work with here. Along with every collection available I also periodically add to my wardrobe, even if I don’t intend to use the skin I am adding. I am attempting to fill out destroyer and corrupted weapons at the moment. I’m also working on HOPE.

Achiever (progression/pride): I devote time to pursuing these where I can.

Pretty much all of these are neverending. Even when I finish a goal, there’s always one to take its place.

Explorer: You bet, I love discovering new places and things.

Nerd: I’ve been one since the summer of 1977, and probably had the seeds of nerdism in me before that.

Grinder: Perhaps, but I’m not really aggressive about it.

Loreist: Yep, and I like going around talking to NPCs as well.

I’m an Explorer by heart. I cannot get enough of even the places in Tyria that look pointless. I have at least 9 Screenshot folders loaded with images.

Nerd. I am a story nutcase. Especially on the Norn side. I roleplay an Avatar of Owl. Just made a movie posted here to show my love of the game, and the Owl spirit.

Grinder? Not really. I only hustle to the next chapter of a story or quest, and level up that way.
