Tier 1 GvG Workshop
Tier 1 GvG Workshop
Date: August 2nd – 4pm EST
Hosted in [OnS] Onslaught Teamspeak
Goal: For the health of Guild Wars 2 WvW community – Introduce Tier 1 community to the Open Field Fights/GvG Playstyle
Organizers: [DN] Amelia Syleste, [OnS] Haru, [OnS] Malevolent Omen, [OnS] Reyana
Introduction
The Tier 1 Guild vs. Guild Initiative is a joint effort of the GvG community to introduce the open field fights playstyle to the North American Tier 1 community. It is our firm belief that a fighting playstyle will benefit Tier 1 greatly as it leads to healthy and fair competition that is based on player PvP skill and group synergy.
However, this does not have to be at the cost of different playstyles. The goal of this Initiative is to promote a mutual understanding between the Tier 1 community guilds that playing for fights and playing for server rating are not mutually exclusive; when server communities come together with the understanding that each server needs to maintain a certain rating in a tier, we will be able to focus less on pushing hard for PPT and more towards fun and competitive fights.
While GvG’s are intimidating at first, it is our hope that the workshops hosted by this Initiative will gradually introduce all guilds in Tier 1 to the open field fights playstyle and allow the scene to flourish in this tier.
What will happen during the workshop?
The purpose of the workshop is to give a direct line of communication to a wealth of resources regarding open field fighting and GvGs for the Guild Wars 2 WvW community. The drivers that have been selected to sit on the panel represent some of the top core drivers of the GvG community; these drivers have exceeded expectations in this playstyle and have revolutionized this game that we love playing. During the workshop, the panel will be asked a series of questions designed to highlight key factors in the GvG scene, whether it be driving, tactics, meta, or other salient aspects of GvG success. The panel will be able to discuss these different topics in depth with the hope that those listening will be able to pick up key strategies to bring back to their own guilds. After that, participants will have a chance to ask their own questions. Participants in the workshop will sit in a Teamspeak channel where permissions to speak will be granted by our moderators in order to maintain order during this workshop; to speak or ask a question, you must indicate it in the Teamspeak chat box and a moderator will put you in queue.

Why Guild vs Guild?
Because:
1. You stop hiding behind walls and arrowcarts.
2. Recognize how to fight open field fights in groups.
3. Coordinate skills with teammates to overcome impossible odds and/or numbers.
There is a reason why ArenaNet labelled it a “game mode violation”
You owe it to yourself and your guild to understand this playstyle.
Hope to see you all there!!!
“There is a reason why ArenaNet labelled it a “game mode violation””
They did? :O Where?

lol he talk bout the EULA and how you guyz talk to your enemys in wvw and dont play the game how it is designed
he dont label GvG (lol) as “game mode violation” he label your activity and how you guyz play wvw with this
but hard to understand ey^^
LOL I’m laughing at some of the people on that list. Three of the people that are on it don’t know jack kitten but to hump the meta and toughness and call out Sacrx comms because they are too stupid to come up with their own.
Where are HOPE, Ark, PYRO, APeX? who cares if PYRO is gone get in contact with their old raid leader, Ark is still around HOPE still plays so does APeX. People hump the kittening toughness beat a guild and they think they are better. Get EU guilds as well, yes they hump the meta and toughness far more than NA but kitten they would be better than some of the people on that list.
Ark runs some crazy kittened up builds, but they are still a force to be reckoned with. APeX hasn’t had a periphery team at all, yet they are still sitting as one of the top guilds in NA (it would be really interesting when APeX does get a periphery team) they play old fashion and still kitten . HOPE runs a kitten ton of people but they still have far more knowledge then a handful of people on that list. PYRO was known to be one of the most adaptable guilds in NA.
It is just appalling to see some of the people that have been chosen to represent the NA GvG scene, absolutely shocking. I honestly can’t wait to hear the crap that will be coming out of the mouths of some of those people.
It’s clearly labelled as “T1 GvG”. Nice use of an oxymoron I must say.

Don’t need to GvG to do the stuff you listed.

Hey, whatever works for you…
Each day the panel will be an hour long and consist of Intigo speaking for 58 minutes then letting the rest finish it up.
Honestly the real question here is, Why must the players promote GvG gameplay? Where has Anet been for the past 2 years? Simply in the back watching the GvG scene grow to where it once was, hitting its peak in both NA and EU and just continue to stand idle while the community starts to die. The game is called GUILD wars 2 and as cliche and repetitive as it may sound Anet has done nothing to promote what the game is really supposed to be.
A failure to recognize your most popular game type that doesn’t exist in your game. Something the players created themselves. All we get is a kittenty oval arena with terrain issues and no further barrier to stop players from trolling. No one wants your kittenty PvE story. We want Guild Wars.

Hey there, just a little perspective from the organizers of the event. You have to understand that we only have so much time for the event to happen and thus had to make the difficult decision of curating a panel that was balanced and that could address the multiple needs of the T1 WvW community. Being chosen to sit on the Expert Panel is not about who was the best driver or most successful GvG guild; rather, the Expert Panel represents a wide range of different skill sets and familiarity with the T1 WvW community.
This GvG Workshop is about learning, nothing more, nothing less. Please leave the bitterness and emotions at the door.
Also, this will hopefully be the first of many workshops, so there will be opportunities for others to sit on discussion panels.

I ran into a cross server GvG in EotM yesterday, not that there’s a really quiet place for GvG in EotM.
If they took out the sentries and columns under the center of the map you could have a nice area mostly undisturbed.
Instead of limiting GvG to current tier/matchup, you should try to find a way to make it more inclusive from any tier.
If PvE guilds can take over a Tequatl overflow, you should be able to do the same in EotM.
It’s unfortunate that you feel that way but allow me to clarify a few points.
I clearly stated that the purpose of this workshop is to educate and encourage T1 guilds to start playing in an open field fights/GvG style. This has nothing to do with ego-stroking; everyone who is on the panel does have skills and experiences that bring unique perspectives to the GvG scene. Now, not only do Gismor or James have extensive open field and GvG experience, but they also bring familiarity with the T1 WvW community. James has spent months in T1 from back when he was in Choo and recently with TE. Gismor is on BG and also understands how T1 works. Do note that with Jericho, Odin, and Indevar (who recently said he would attend), who are arguably three of the best drivers in the history of NA GvG, are also on this panel. Intigo has been with the very best guilds in EU and surely will bring interesting perspectives to our discussion. You can start to see how this panel has been balanced to fit both technical and community needs.
With that being said, depending on the success of our initial GvG workshop, we hope to continue organizing these events with new drivers/players on the discussion panels. If you feel that there is someone that could bring a unique perspective to the table regarding GvG and its application to T1, please feel free to get in contact with me in-game or through this forum and I will certainly listen to your recommendations.
I can’t believe they banished this post to the kittening ingame events, gg anet really knows what WvW is.

@Cakzs.3058
The GVG scene must be kicking in Devona’s Rest. Any good guilds over there?
You do sound salty, glad you admit it. The content of your post makes it sound like some of these drivers you disapprove of had to go around and pull favors to be on this panel. This really isn’t about stroking ego and I doubt they could care more or less if they had been asked or not. If they have another workshop, I’d expect a different panel. As stated before, there is only so much time to organize something that’s not even supported by Anet. It’s quite easy to be dismissive. I could dismiss every single person on that list by linking them to some nonsense or another, but the reality is that regardless of what opinion you may hold for them, these are players that have had different experiences, success and failures that can prove to be of use to newcomers. I for one will hope that it will be productive and actually help.
PS: I couldn’t resist this one. Clerics and sentinels? Really? LOL.
