Hello Everyone!

Pink Day in LA is returning to Guild Wars 1 and 2 once again and we can’t wait for you to see what we have planned for this year!

New to the Community and wondering what Pink Day is?

Pink Day is a yearly event in support of Cancer Research and support for those who have lost someone to cancer or currently battling cancer. We get together for 6 glorious hours of awesome fun and encourage players to give back in their own way on this day! We also get a newly re-finished Lion’s Arch to celebrate in – how perfect is that?!

When is Pink Day in LA?

October 17th from 12pm-6pm CDT (-5 GMT)

There will be 3 NA Megaservers and 2 EU Megaservers as well as 4 main livestreamers for the event. 2 for NA and 2 for EU! They will help with announcing TAXIs into the servers that day, as well as our many volunteers with the PINK guild tag.

How do I enter to win the prizes on the donation prize list?

Please include your IGN (In-Game Name) with your donation if you are contributing. This will be helpful for us when it comes to the prize drawing list. All people who donate will have a set of prizes that they have a chance to win for contributing! What you need to do:

Post your IGN along with your real name (optional) when donating. (IF you do not play Guild Wars, make sure your name is included as some of the prizes are NOT in-game items )

E-mail donations@gw-en.com with a number from 1-1000. If duplicate numbers are chosen, we will keep picking prizes from the list until we move on to the next number selected! *

If you are selected as a winner, you will be contacted via the e-mail used to select your number. If the prize needs to be mailed to your home, you will need to, at this time, provide your address.

Woohooo! Look at those prizes…. If thát doesn’t get people excited to participate and donate, I don’t know what will! It’s going to be great, you’re awesome for keeping this tradition running Rhonda!

As a 5 time breast cancer survivor currently undergoing chemo to mop up any stray cells that may have gone on walkabout in my body, I whole-heartedly support this initiative and in fact, have along with many others, volunteered time to help raise awareness, fundraise and lead events for Pink Day 2015.

While I might not see a cure in my lifetime, research is what is keeping me alive so that my kids don’t lose their mom while they still need me, my husband doesn’t lose his wife (before he’s ready to trade up for a newer model, ha!) and my best friend doesn’t lose her soul sister any time soon.

Cancer Research is a global community – results from trials are shared around the world helping medical professionals tailor treatment for their patients. So it doesn’t hugely matter what country you live in when your donations are going to cancer research.

Since originally being diagnosed with Breast Cancer in 2008, I have reaped the benefits of Global research and am currently on a fairly new chemotherapy agent that is targeted so it nukes the mutated cells, and not my healthy ones. The hope is that I will have fewer side effects and all of the mutations will get picked up thus keeping me in remission for a much longer time than previously.

Had it not been for this research, I may not be here today.

Please consider donating real money – if you can’t and not everyone can, especially in this economy, consider alternate ways of helping. Spread the word about Pink Day, volunteer to help run events or give a portion of your T-6 farmed materials to Yailith.4056. Most importantly, try to participate in the pre-events and the main event! You’ll have fun and it is for a very worthy cause.

Also…look out for Pre-events in your time zones. Can’t wait for Pink Day this year, shaping up to potentially be the biggest one yet!

We need people to help spread the word in game, especially on the EU side. So many people don’t know about Pink Day In LA and what it is for…many greet our adverts in map chat with skepticism – they seem to think we are scammers after free loot. We are doing our best outside of game but we can’t reach everyone that way.

I am super stoked for Pink Day— seeing how excited people are in the community already is AMAZING but we need to tell as many people as we can about it in order for Pink Day to be a smashing success… and really, if helping find the cure for cancer isn’t enough incentive, that prize list certainly is!

The prize list is looking awesome!! Thank you to all the volunteers and organisers for all the hard work so far. Can’t wait!

I too have survived and will be contacting you in-game so our guild can become more involved in this awesome event. I was wondering if you had contacted ANet about offering something in the gem store as well as some achievements and a title. That would make so many more people aware and if the proceeds can be donated to the research fund then it will make a much larger impact.

Thank you so much for your reply!! How cool is that!! The science behind it is totally fascinating to me so I’m pretty engaged with my docs waging the battle on the battleground that is my body. It has been a pretty tenacious adversary, slightly evolving with each res. Fascinating, but scary because it is happening to me. I would love to be able to see my cells and tissues under the microscope – I always want to know more – and see what they see. I have from the beginning donated all of my tissues to research so hopefully my tissues along with many others will aid researchers in discovering more life extending, targeted therapies, and maybe even a cure.

And a massive, massive thank you to the “close ally of the Queen” for becoming a scientist specialising in cancer research. Without our scientists, I would not be here. My kids wouldn’t have their mom and my friends and family wouldn’t have their pain in the butt wife or partner in crime soul sister….thank you, thank you, thank you…. <3

I shall pass your thanks along to him. I’m sure that will put a big smile to his face. Researching new methods to treat cancer, with as little damage to healthy cells, is one of his primary jobs. And my personal thanks to you, for sharing such a touching and personal story. It helps put things in perspective.
