Guild Wars 2

So, was thinking of idea’s for a fun way to interact with (hopefully) a large number of people on Guild Wars 2. What was suggested to me during a FotM run with some friends was raffling off a nice weapon for people, which is especially useful with the new wardrobe system coming up!

Basically, I’ve got The Energizer (http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/The_Energizer) sitting around in my inventory. So, I was thinking some basic rules for raffling it off:

• Cost to get a single entry is 5g
• Can buy as many entries as you desire
• All participants will be given a number for each entry
• The winner will be chosen using a RNG, and streamed out live using twitch (so people don’t cry that I played favorites if they don’t win)
• Any player on a North American server is eligible to enter

More detailed and precise information can be thought up when I see what you all here think about this idea.

Well I mean… you could stand to make far more gold than its worth if enough people enter. So this kind of raffle would make sense to a fund raiser type deal.

I don’t know. Interesting nonetheless.

Well, that did cross my mind. I was thinking that there could be a second place person chosen who gets some sum of the gold (wouldn’t make sense to allow it to go higher than the precursor value), or the winner could even get some of it as a sort of, head start towards getting the other things they need for their legendary.

Not 100% sure, as mentioned above. But I think it would be fun.

With my guild raffles I go to extreme lengths to make sure I do not make money. It’s a little different for a public raffle. You can ethically make a few extra gold… but too much over it and it would be a little silly.

I think you have choices:

Make a limit on the entries such that you stop entries once you reach the weapon value or a little above it.

Make a wild card 2nd prize (third prize if there’s enough entries) with the pool of gold equivalent to the gold worth of extra entries.

Yeah there are definitely many possibilities for how this whole process could work. Right now, I’m simply attempting to get a rough feel for what is felt on it.

I like the idea; it’s a different, fun, and interesting way to get a precursor.
