Maybe I got a bit carried away by the guardians play…. still I feel like NA is behind in regards of overall skill. Looked like circlepit all the way- but maybe some NA guild wants to prove themselfes and fight the eu guilds.

Poor fellow really… so yeah, the man clicks some skills, has some troubles with combat awareness and with the timing of his skills, but overall he survives all rounds, and contributes his fare share of dmg and heal. Makes sense that he mains a Necro, cuz really he moves like one the whole match.

Give the man a break, i’ve seen worse play from some top crew players in my day. Clicker or not, they got the W and he was a part of that.

i was wondering if there was anywhere we could post either active guilds as mentioned before and guilds that aren’t dead but aren’t ready for GvG and are rebuilding/traingin, for example we didnt survive orbageddon… currently have about 10 ppl for raids maybe 15 on a weekend. only about 1/3 of which were on the GvG team

This NA vs EU thing is a farce. Guilds are guilds and trying to label them all as one skill level – NA or EU – is a joke.

I’m shocked that our friendly, spur of the moment 10v10 with PYRO in the alpha environment is even coming into it to try and prove anything.
PYRO is a solid guild and they kicked our kitten fair and square in the fight. But keep in mind the factors of the alpha – shoddy gear, the interruptions and distractions, no prime setup from either side, etc. If I remember right PYRO were 9 frontline with 1 backline or something, and we were 5/5 between backline and frontline. Does this become a major factor? I have no idea, never having done a 10v10 before in my life.

Trying to cast PYRO as though they represent the entirety of NA, or Scnd as if we represent the EU, is ridiculous. In general this whole OMFG SCND hype really needs to stop. We rose, we fought, and we did our best to win. We had our slackmode to chill, and now we are in the process of creating a brand new GvG team. We will continue on and keep fighting but please leave the past in the past.

I guess in short, please stop using Second Law as a hype tool. We don’t think we’re kings of anything.

I’d like to second this. The “GvG” we had was completely unofficial and cheesy. It was fun, and we really enjoyed it, but it wasn’t representative of either guild’s skill, and shouldn’t be used as such. If Scnd had their full numbers and gear with no ping, it would have been a very, very different fight. To imply otherwise is just disingenuous.

Very much agree with you and Zacharus on this.

Transitioning into a more general topic, people should stop treating scrimmages like official matches. With the Obsidian Sanctum coliseum in place, giving us somewhere to stage official GvG’s, scrimmage actually has meaning again, if it didn’t still during Orbageddon. If you want a representation of skill, then make it official and put it on gw2gvg.com. Otherwise, scrimmages will continue to be for fun and/or experimentation. It’s not easy trying to test new ideas in GvG’s because setting up these fights takes a long time and you can only schedule so many within a week or do so many rounds in one day, and you could end up having 2 elementalists online when you wanted to test what 5 could do in a composition. There’s really no point in using a scrimmage to determine a guild’s potential unless you know for a fact that both sides were treating it like an official GvG.

i think the general consensus is that agg is the epitome of stagnation in terms of strategy and new tactics is concerned.

they are extremely good at the one thing they do, but in many ways they are a one trick pony. it’s why they got handled by EP some months ago. perhaps they adapted by now, but regardless they are slow to evolve.

Scenario about GvG ethics.
15v15 scenario

Guild A: Has good class comp, runs the “guild perfered” builds, Listens to one commander/driver, very experience group in Zergbusting and GvGs other guilds frequently.

Guild B: No class comp, running their own roaming builds, No one drives them and tells them what to do, very experienced solo-roamers/small scale players and are considered the best roamers of the that entire league.

Fight begins, Guild A gets aced by Guild B. Guild B wins and no one is downed out of all 10 rounds. Guild A tells Guild B not to GvG anymore because using small scale tactics is considered bad manners because it shows no player cohesion/team skill. Reason why Guild B won was because unlike Guild A, They were very spread out and easily kited bursts while consistently applying so much pressure that Guild A couldn’t back off to blast water. Instead of the typical ball vs ball where you have them bursting and pushing and running out to recover, Guild B ended up surrounding Guild A and everyone that fell away from the group was stomped while the rest where just being bursted then kited to death.

Was Guild B in the wrong for not having a “comp” and basically accused of “Cheesing” the GvG? Or are there set rules to where you have to have some standard?

the individual skill levels of guild A was far below guild B in this case. specific builds, comps and organization can only get you so far. that being said, any top gvg team will never lose to guild B in reality, even if you got the best of the best for guild b.

I read this and went “Wow…this is the story of my guild”. We’re Guild B exactly as you describe. If you are a representative of Guild B, please, please tell me if we ever face each other in wvw. I would love a gvg with other roamers. I’m on Eredon Terrace.

I’m in agreement with the posters above. Guild A probably has players that do not equal the skill level of Guild B. I find that roamers dodge better and generally survive better in fights than people used to grouping up.

Am I the only one who thinks gvg scheduling is about to take a hit with the wvw match threads going away? That is one of the better way of contacting guilds in your match. The gw2gvg site does not get enough use, and so many guilds registered there are on different servers or no longer gvg anyway, so it’s hard to use it for scheduling. I don’t think many people even know about this thread (in game events? lol).

Not sure what would be the best way to deal with this, but I do think it probably would work best if it involves the official forum. Maybe a stickied thread listing guilds interested in gvg’ing, with their server and a contact? Any hope anet would allow that in the wvw discussion forum instead of this black hole? wvw does have the gvg arena now after all, maybe it does not have to be completely banished from wvw anymore? idk, kind of thinking out loud here…thoughts?

So Second Law is retiring tonight as you already know.

As a final farewell, I wanted to put together a “greatest hits” esque video. But i’m really bad at holding onto footage, and I couldn’t choose from all the memories.

So I settled on releasing what truly were our greatest hits. The GvG’s against VoTF, VII, and GD, with full TS included.

Part 1: VoTF

Part 2: VII

The always impressive Chemsorly is streaming our final raid tonight. Including a 100g giveaway, at a time to be determined.
