Are you seriously suggesting someone hijacked your things when you joined a guild? To be honest, it sounds a tad ridiculous. There has to be more to this story.

Number 1 cautionary rule of statistics: correlation does not mean causation.

Just because your account was hacked when you joined a guild does not mean the guild was responsible. In addition, the guild people themselves have no advantage over other hackers when it comes to accessing your account, unless you provided your password to them; which, in that case, would be your own fault, and would have happened no matter which guild you joined.

It is much more likely that unrelated hackers were simply able to break into your account at the same time you joined the guild, and again, correlation is not causation. It’s a sucky thing that happened, but don’t pile blame on other people who had the misfortune of being around during your own misfortunes if the only evidence you have is a vague correlation. Change your password, sort things out with Anet, talk to the guild (in private), and move on.

And for the people unfamiliar with [WAR]: they are the same guild that headed a 25-hour WvW marathon to raise money for Extra Life on TC. While I do not discount the idea of there being bad apples in the guild (there are bad apples everywhere), nothing I have seen from them suggests that they would sanction the hacking of fellow guildmates.

The same two e-mails I get spammed regarding my World of Warcraft account I haven’t logged into for a while.

Sounds to me like someone was the victim of phishing. Hopefully Vector didn’t click on the links… Also we host via Guild Launch and NO ONE in the guild is able to see your Guild Launch password.

PS: To the above posters, thank you kindly for the defense. We indeed do NOT condone any sort of hacking, or unethical behaviour. If there is any PROOF anyone in the guild did anything I’d be more than happy to review it and take appropriate action.
