Looks like a friend and I will be moving to one of the servers ranked 13 – 15 on March 18. It seems likely those will be:
– Henge of Denravi
– Crystal Desert
– Northern Shiverpeaks

Can anyone give a quick comparison of the three? We spend most of our time in WvW, but play all aspects. Thx!

I think this will be a popular question for all of the Free destination servers. Having never played with or against any of those servers I can’t say anything more than outdated rumors, especially now that the match-up forums are dead. Wish I knew more myself, it would make a lot of soon to be had discussions easier.

Just posted this thread https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/wuv/recruitment/NSP-Wants-You

I am not really sure about the others but NSP is still an active server that works together with one another. As for WvW in the server we are very strong. PvE is currently active too as Lions Arch is pretty much always in Que during popular hours of the day. We would love to have you if you are interested in playing WvW with us!

HOD- has a good NA crew. They’re one of the more frustrating servers to play against due to their ninja ppt crew. Avoids fights looks for quick karma trains. Lacks oceanics/sea

NSP- has one of the best roaming guilds/groups you can come across in Holy/tm. Their main guilds blob/karma train probably far superior numbers than HOD/CD’s NA counterparts. (Os guild). I would gander to say Os has more guild members alone on their raid nights than either HOD or CD can field individually as a server.

CD- our NA is the weakest. We have a couple good roaming guilds in tkva/pug. Our oceanic/sea is our strength and that’s their karma train time zone. CD literally has no NA karma train but the ones holding ground do their best. CD has a few guilds trying to get better and into the gvg scene. VII, KOME, VOW, PUG. Not sure what the other two servers offer in terms of gvg.

Basically if you’re looking to karma train during NA go for HOD/NSP. You want an uphill fight in NA go for CD. If you’re oceanic/sea and want people to play with, CD would be better.

How about just transferring to SBI now, and work on getting those 2nd or 3rd place rewards. No one in silver league will be able to compete with the ultra stacked server that will be rank 7 when the season starts. It will either be DB, FA, or Mag (probably FA) who will be 7th, and the winner of silver. The real battle is going to be for 2nd and 3rd.

Most of the silver league has light populations, with coverage disparity. SoR will probably finish last in the silver league, and it seems that IoJ and SBI might be the two going for 2nd and 3rd, that is, unless a lot of people transfer to the free servers in silver.

The catch is, will it be enough to move those servers to the front, and are you willing to stay with them when the season ends (since you will have to pay to leave them).

Thanks very much for the info. It’s really helpful. I should have added more to my question.

My friend and I aren’t transferring for the season – we’ve been looking to find a new permanent home for a while. If we go to a 13-15 server, I expect we’ll probably end up 7, 8 or 9 in the tournament (though it will fun to see if we can help our new home outperform). I’m hopeful that the Swiss-style tournament will mean we spend most of the season fighting servers near our level.

We’re actually looking for a server that’s competitive in their level in WvW and has good opportunities for roaming duo’s. We’re comfortable taking out camps and towers as a 2-man, so we don’t want to go to the very top tier. And we like to run into other roaming groups of 1 – 5.

The free transfer is really nice for us. I think it may cause a pretty big movement of experienced players in the 21-24 range up to the 13-15 range. Hopefully we’re able to help our new homes.

Not sure if SBI will be in contention for second place.

An honest assessment of what T4/5 is like would be appreciated for those that might consider transferring down from gold league servers.

Are there many actual good size fights, like 20-30 vs. 20-30 during NA? Do smaller roaming groups get much action? Do servers try to maintain waypoints and coordinate pugs? How are these servers going to react if new commanders suddenly start appearing?

The lowest I have played was T4, and that was like 8 months ago, so I have no idea what wvw is like in the middle tiers these days.

T3/4 is what I feel is the sweet spot. With 2 20man NA guilds into CD that can wvw 3/4nights per week would push us there. We have the oceanic/sea to hang and get better. We call rank 13,14,15 wood league on CD. Because we’re stuck in a limbo against ninja ppt HOD. I don’t speak for everyone on CD when I say this, but I don’t want to move up past T3, we were in a happy state in t3/4 back in the day. Less drama, wvwers knowing wvwers. We didn’t have to worry about ppt coverage issues because it just stresses the server out. We would rather have a few guilds that work together in the field in each time slot and be more like a band of brothers than a bandwagon.

There are reasons why CD hasn’t put up a recruitment thread publicly on the forum. We are pretentious of who we bring in now as we’ve seen the rise and fall of bandwagons and we have been getting our crap reorganized since the last bandwagon. We’ve shed alot of guilds since last season but the ones left are hanging us in silver still. It comes to show the resilience we have with the ones left. But if you’re interested, people you can probably contact based on time zones:

Oceanic: Cup of Chili from[Kome]
Sea: Lyoxero from [RI]
NA: Cricket [Pug] or myself from [VII]
PvE related: Echo [PA]

or just drop by the forums and perhaps we can get you situated in the teamspeak to talk to a few people www.crystal-desert.com

Regarding T4/5 waypoints. Each server in these ranks have their coverage gaps and will most likely lose it to other servers during their gaps. CD loses their WPs during NA prime, HOD/NSP loses it during oceanic/sea. So if you’re looking to PvD join CD for oceanic/sea, HOD/NSP for NA prime. If you are looking to fight and challenge yourself, join CD during NA prime, HOD/NSP during oceanic/sea.

PvE wise CD speaking, new patches, we probably have more people in overflows than in wvw. Think CD was one of the first servers to beat marrionette and other pve mumbo jumbo. [PA] guild tries to organize those but I don’t really follow.

Hi TS, I believe you are the one who had contacted me. =)

Logically thinking, I would consider the existence of SEA and OCEANIC presence as the main factor to determine the possibilities of sever’s WvW progression (and maybe PvE as well) in long term basis. SEA and OCEANIC presence are pretty much the rare breeds in Guild Wars 2, many servers are seeking for it. Whether or not a server can progress forward pretty much depend on the coverage a server can provide. By thinking along those lines and with the information given, it might help you determine the server which can satisfy your needs during your duration of stay.

I’m a recent transfer to Crystal Desert, so keep in mind it is coming from that perspective.

+ : High
= : Average
- : Low

HoD: + NA Coverage / + EU/Mid Day NA Coverage / – SEA/OCX Coverage
NsP: + NA Coverage / = EU/Mid Day NA Coverage / – SEA/OCX Coverage
CD: = NA Coverage / – EU/Mid Day NA Coverage / + SEA/OCX Coverage

All servers due to their low population, hence T5, will gather together a karma train and run across one anothers borderlands on a daily basis. There are some guild groups among each server. These are the guild I’ve seen my first week here so far that field 15+

HoD: [FKB], [TOH], [VLK]
NsP: [Os]
CD: [VII], [VOW], [KoMe], [SoV], [RI], [HAX]

I’m not sure on how organized the other 2 servers are, but I’ll give what I’ve seen so far out on the field.

HoD: Has high numbers, but lacks experienced commanders/community
NsP: Has average numbers, but have experienced commanders/comunity
CD: Lack of numbers, and a lack of experienced commanders/community

So far it seem to be a fairly interesting thread to hear the different views of the servers going from 13-15.

HoD and CD are locks but the more interesting spot if NA 15 since NSP and SF are extremely close in rating with NSP holding a slim margin to rank 15 which has been overlooked.
