Dear low (wvw) pop servers
I was just thinking how awesome it’d be if you lower ranking servers pulled something like this off lol! I also think the gold rankings should pull something like this if they even want to think of beating the likes of JQ, SoR, and BG.
It’d make matchups far more interesting for everyone
So basically you’re saying that you have utmost respect for server loyalists, then ask them to transfer to FC? The fact is that people misunderstand a server like SBI. We are not a win at all costs environment. We already had a community exodus, and are in no hurry to rush back to where our downfall began. People that stay on the servers they started with, including myself (through good times and bad), are the same people who won’t leave to start another bandwagon server.
I share your belief that server loyalists are a fantastic group of people, but starting more bandwagon servers is only furthering the problem. It’s Arena Net’s fault for emphasizing all the wrong things about WvW since launch. They made a step in the right direction by removing Orbs which were quite representative of coverage, and made it harder for smaller servers to stand up and fight, but showed that they can’t learn from their mistakes by adding bloodlust. I genuinely feel bad for every player on every server. Each server should be fun every week, but despite the multitude of ways ANET could make this happen, it’s more profitable to have disgruntled customers who will then shell out 1800 gems to transfer to wherever the grass seems greener. Oh well, just remember community comes first, and whatever you prioritize in the middle, PPT should come last. It’s just too bad all of this league nonsense is forcing communities that have been around since launch to destroy themselves for fear of where they will end up when the leagues are ultimately released.
Sorry for thread jacking, hopefully ANET realizes the leagues are very detrimental and will just remove them. Their policy of failing to include the community’s desires in major content releases will lose them their most profitable and vocal customers, and even though our words clearly don’t matter to them, when we stop opening up our wallets for this game, they will finally look back at their mistakes.

Those of us loyalists that are left have my utmost respect and appreciation… That being said we have not faced a challenge like that which lies in October. We are being forced to make a choice; stay divided and get rolled over in the name of loyalty (at least we’ll have a valid reason to QQ), or unite and stand courageously together against the injustice of the system!
Sorry, Solstice. It’s a nice idea, but if we pool all the talent together on one server, then we won’t have anyone interesting to fight against. Let the bandwagoners have their stupid league so they can chest-thump safely from the comfort of their own zergs.
bandwagoning is not a new idea and gets limited returns. If you get as large as SBI (who is likely to end up in the gold league anyhow) you too will jump up then hit the wall. At that point, you need to ask if you are getting everything you hoped you would be out of things.
In other words, forget this rather humorous backdoor recruitment ad for FC (A+ for originality) and if you are finding instability or not enough participation on your server look for a new long-term home (unless you want to be one of those gypsy guilds that moves every 3 weeks.) Servers that have survived bad drops (SoS, SBI, IoJ) are good places to start and look around. Find people who’s philosophy and attitude reflect yours.
I thought this guy was referring to a 2v1 type scenario (EX: x server and y server vs z server) I didn’t realize he was asking people to transfer to his :/

Those pesky Fergs are clever like that.
Those that disagree I appreciate your point of view but do you disagree that the alternative is we all share in the kitten that will commence?

This is a recruitment thread. Props for your viewpoint. Fail for trying to hijack and undermine it. This is a legitimate attempt at taking the power into our own hands.
Our server has a huge momentum swing happening and we need fuel for the fire. Your opinion is coming from afar having rarely if ever played against the lowest pop servers.
You are just scared of this becoming reality.

But pound for pound I believe us low-pop servers can beat anyone due to our battle-hardened’ness and the trials and tribulations we have experienced. Nobody will recognize that while coverage = king. I’m saying let’s level the playing field and show our true worth.

Us low pop servers have an understanding of each other. I am not asking to abandon the loyalty to their server, but rather embrace the loyalty and brotherhood of T7/T8 as a “tier” loyalty over a “server” loyalty to compensate for the oncoming slaughterfests that will otherwise be shared by all.
As far as loyalty goes normally a low pop guild leaves for a much higher ranked server.
This is encouraging staying in a low pop server and CREATING a higher ranked server.
Answer me how incredibly more much rewarding would it be to CREATE a power server vs JOIN one?
Okay guys so check it. Here’s the plan. Y’all’s know I gots a lot of respect for all of you staying on low pop servers and all, but there are gonna be these things and people will be transferring and bandwagoning and zerging a lot.
So I gets this idea while eating waffles. Why don’t we just do it before they do! It make total sense now!
You see, if we screw it up first, we win first, amirite?

I’d like to sign up for an idea that involves everyone else getting waffles too.

In a few short weeks we will be consistently fighting servers like SBI, Kaineng, IoJ. I think we all know that for us those matches will not resemble the WvW that we know and love. Nothing against those servers but we all know the nature of the beast.
In very recent history, lower pop servers have been falling one by one. First AR, then DR, then GoM, and now I am hearing talk of a few other servers being at risk of a similar fate.
Those of us loyalists that are left have my utmost respect and appreciation… That being said we have not faced a challenge like that which lies in October. Of the low pop servers FC has the strongest backbone, made up of players and guilds that have proven their loyalty by sticking with the server during the 7 months from Jan-July where we only won TWICE. Now we’ve won 3 out of the last 4 weeks. We don’t have “fair-weathers,” we have soldiers. We are starting to create a buzz, converting PvE’ers to WvW addicts, and my last recruitment thread netted several in game messages from higher tier players and guilds interested in possibly transferring to FC. I believe with our current momentum we are in the best position to facilitate the “alliance” I speak of.
I wish our options were not so limited or drastic – I would be thrilled if we could keep re-matching our current battle! I would be even more thrilled if Anet at least put a band-aid on the population imbalance before implementing seasons under the make-believe idea that WvW is competitive in its current state, but such hopes are merely silly wishful thinking and reality is king.
So, the TL;DR is if anyone is interested in choosing the “united we stand” approach to season 1 as opposed to the “divided we fall” (in other words those who prefer a fighting chance over a reason to QQ) please reach out to discuss!
I have been on Devona’s Rest from day 1. As I remembered it back in the first few weeks I started playing, we were the underdogs being placed at the bottom, but managed to pull our selves together, and bring ourselves up to 5th tier. But with school becoming a problem and other personal reasons, I took about a 3-5 month break from playing Guild Wars 2. After finally returning a couple of weeks ago, I was sadly greeted to a devastated WvW community. Seeing this happen was quite devastating to me, and decided to take up commanding DR forces, and after a a few weeks of doing so, I have been able to understand better the sever population problem with WvW. Seeing as a WvW tournament is coming up, I can only morn over the fact that this tournament will potentially ruin our entire WvW community, since most people will stray from WvW for good after realizing that there is potentially, “no point”, into playing WvW due to us being stomped purely by overwhelming numbers repeatedly.
I won’t ask for a band aid for our sever as it will potentially create more problems, but I will one day hope that the population deficiency for DR WvW will be resolved, and that more people will find the great fun in WvW even if we are outnumbered around the clock.

I dont know whats been talked about here but I wanna clarify something to myself. Help me understand this are the leagues not being divided into 2 US and 3 EU pools? Does that not mean that each pool has its own winner (gold, sivler and bronze winners)?
If the above is correct does it not mean again that many high tier server guilds which are also high pop will consider moving to low tier servers e.g. like in Eu servers best coverage is brought by Vizunah Square and SFR, Desolation, Elona Reach, Piken Square who are the competitors may consider going to lower tier servers and take a chance at getting gold position rather than going to compete vizunah where they already know they will loose?
I have seen WSR (White Side ridge) population go from medium to high just after the announcement of leagues. this how I see it is a smart move from Anet as populations will be more balanced out after these league matches. Or else I have not understood the question here at all and am blabbing about something I dont get. hehe

I just wanted to say there is hope for lower population servers. IoJ was always in the top 2 tiers since the launch then along came the end of free transfers, and viola our server emptied out. Down, down we sank in the rankings week after week of always losing. But we did have a hard-core dedicated base who stuck through the worst of times and now IoJ is in a much better position.
Not everyone wants to be in the top tiers with long queue waits and zergs everywhere you go.
That said, Anet needs to fix some of the WvW problems they made. They really need to do something about servers being forced to compete against much higher population servers. Who they will always lose against because of the sheer sizes of their foes. Do they think this is fun?
I think every Anet employee who deals with WvW needs to spend at least one month on the bottom six servers. Only then could they grasp what these servers are facing.
Just wanted to mention FC put up a much better fight then during our last match.
;-) Good work.*

One thing that remains a constant for bandwagoning servers:
The wheels always come off eventually…You may climb to some amazing heights due to the transfers, but it is almost always not permanent.
Server transfers already happen naturally, even more so now with this insane league nonsense….Bandwagoning only guarantees results in the short-term by throwing population at a problem, eventually you have to have a solid community. My advice is to work with the people you have and let the results be what they will be.
Server loyalists are not going to leave their server because they are obviously server loyalists.
My ET bros are my homies and none of us are planning to leave.

Meh. I’ve been saying that 3 leagues of 8 or 4 of 6 would be infinitely preferable to this 2 of 12 madness. You put us and ET together, you might, just might pack about half of what a Kaineng can field. And this concept’s being shoved down our collective gizzards like a feeding tube? Sod that.
Screw it. It’s time to create the following collective units – for “reals”:
- Dark Isle of Janthaven
- Sorrow’s Terrace of Denravi’s Crossing
- Northern GoMnomberry Pie
Any questions, lads and lasses?

3 leagues of 8 doesn’t work with 24 servers (or will 4 servers get 1 on 1’s?
@ Chris
Note that I also mentioned 4 of 6, as well. Either way, expecting the current lowest 4 servers (DR/AR/GoM, and either us/ET) to take on the high end of that 12 chain, let alone the equivalent for 8-12 vs 1-3 … is rather frigging preposterous.

It will shift the same imbalance. Some gold league servers will tank and lose players as they move to tier 1 and players from all around the tiers will move to rank 12 server (top of silver league). anyone outside of ranks 1-2 (maybe 3) and 12’ish will lose more than they gain. Then 12 will move to gold league after season 1 and more transfers will commence.
Just gotta say I think NSP has the most loyal people. But I’ve never been on FC so……..

We (Kaineng) were right there with you in T8 getting beat on by Borlis Pass and others. We used to put all of our resources into just holding Cliffside tower. Like you, I was gone for around 5 months, so I wasn’t here for Kaineng’s rise to power, but since I’ve been back this server has been on its way back down, and we are soon to suffer another significant blow. And even though OP specifically mentioned us, I can tell you WvW is often not much fun over here either.
I stand by my point. Leagues are coming. AR, DR, GoM, ET, and us at FC as well are going to start facing insurmountable odds week-in and week-out.
We can all do our best to find niches of enjoyment within the game, or we can combine our collective strategies and numbers into a viable, competitive force capable of fighting for a respectable finish in the silver league.
Sure you can have your own fun for awhile ignoring PPT etc, but when there’s an actual competition going on the satisfaction and rewards are immeasurably greater.
If we were able to land 4-5 total guild transfers I am confident we could rise to 4th place in the league. If Kaineng is bleeding like it sounds we could knock them out of the top 3 where it would then be YB, IoJ, and us.
From there it’s a mystery how it would play out, but that would be a few awesome months!!! After that who cares if the game isn’t fundamentally fixed by then a lot of us will be quitting anyway. If it is fixed then who cares its fixed!!

No I’m not that same Chris. Anyhow I’m in full support of 4 leagues and there is a thread on this. Support it and it got a “we’ll gather info” response from Devon Carver.

I think HoD and NS have some things to say about that.
NS the first T1 contender to get dropped by transfers could get interesting. HoD probably has some people that remember the glory days.
In all honesty, I think FC is cursed with an uninteresting name.
(edited by Chris.3290)
LOL i’ve always said that myself. Change the name to “kitten Crossing” and we’ll be tier 1 in 2 months haha
Nice Thread Sol,
With the shifting that’s happening where would you guess FC will be sitting around the beginning of league play? I know to try to pin that down is close to impossible, im not looking for anything more than an educated guess from someone who seems like they have their finger on the WvW population pulse.
While trying to bring more life into FC, what is the goal? Are you pushing for Upper Silver, Gold? Just to get more people to survive some of the upper crust beatings that are headed towards the low pop servers?
I’m playing Ferg now, down in the dregs and I believe all three of our servers are in for some hurt. What I Like about FC is you not only have some talented players, groups and guilds, but I like the attitude I pick up from your server.
do you have a server site for communication? TS?

As of right this moment we would be roughly 7th / 8th place in silver league. We can comfortably come in ahead of DR/AR/ET/GoM, but SF is a mystery since it’s been quite awhile since we’ve fought against them (and would partly depend who else is in the match).
Our goal is to get a couple more guilds and hop up into that competitive bubble between HoD, NSP, DH, and Kaineng, which are all fairly equal now considering the guilds that left DH and continue to leave Kaineng. Only IoJ and YB would be lopsided matches and we can work on 2v1’ing them.
I suppose to quantify our goal it would be initially to reach top 5 in silver league. Gold league is not something I am even considering in the near future. If that ever looks like a possibility we’ll revisit
and yes we use a server TS3 that is nicely organized including cross-channel commander chat. I hope that answers your questions

Very Much so, only one more. Do you have a community site, forums, communication tools ect.
besides TS3 we have a server website and forums, but most of our com’s are through TS3 such as weekly commander meetings and server meetings etc.
