We have very good commanders and are able to cover offpeak hours pretty well with active zergs and leading commanders till 10 am in the morning.

The community of desolation is very skillfull and we are capable of winning 30vs70 even with public zergs but we simply lack the playerbase at prime times.

We never have a quee time not even on eternal battlegrounds for most of the time so if you enjoy playing WvW and don’t want to wait, come over here!

We need players/guilds/commanders to return ‘’no.1’’ everyone who is willing to join us to make this come true is happily welcome.

Right now Desolation is almost pure PuG / militia server and it is one of the most international servers as well. This combination makes it unique in EU. You can find all sorts of languages in the map chat and nobody is shunned based on the country of the origin.

We currently lack morning, day time and prime time coverage. We also lack big dedicated hard core WvWvW guilds. Still we often are able to win weekly match up, while having regular outnumbered “buff” on us. The positive thing is: There are no queues in general, except for the reset night.

Let’s be fair against our enemies: I know that some other servers have some really great guilds, probably better than our guilds, but do you want to play on a server, which plays together, perfect co-operation or on server, which consists of competing guilds. Desolation uses server wide TeamSpeak with very nice organization.

In 2013 Desolation lost lot of dedicated hard core guilds to “greener” pastures. More than half of those guilds are now just a pale comparison of what they used be when they still played on Desolation. I know some might even miss the old times. Those who stayed at Desolation are hard as nail. We know how to fight outnumbered and still carve out wins and wipe the enemy. We have one of the best PuG commanders in the game. Our typical PuG force can be 50% WvWvW veteran players, each having a commander tag (turned off) and lots of experience. We of course won the silver league.

Desolation is the #1 EU server in pve. Even our dear enemies from French and German language servers regularly come to guest pve on Desolation, simply because the pve experience is unparalleled.

The season just started and our quees are around 100 in eb and 10-50 on other maps.

Talented individual players, not just guilds, are also welcome to Desolation. The transfer cost is now just 1000 gems. I am glad to see several of our old hard core players, who moved to other servers, now coming back to Desolation for the leagues with their friends.

We are a server, who welcomes PuGs. Despite being a high population server, we still have a small scale roamers (like me). We can ninja capture a keep in prime time with just 3 players. Our prime time is full, but as people get the achievements done, we will have more room. Good PuG commanders are always in need and Desolation has tons of PuGs to follow and scout. Night and morning hours still have room. Meaning we definitely need more North Americans, Pacific, Australian and Asian zone players. Ya takzhe govoryu po-russkiy.

If we can keep the momentum Desolation has a good chance for places #2 to #5. Desolation PuGs from the win!

Best server by far for all over experience for pve and wvw. desolation has proved itself time and again to have a solid backbone of great players. I myself do not play gw2 that much anymore but check regularly on how the server is doing. I’m suprised and delighted to see the server doing so well. Even as an ex iron player I think the best thing that happened to deso was becoming more militia with no big guild trying to dictate. So keep your chins up guys I’ll be showing up from time to time and always checking on deso’s progress. I highly endorse this server as a fantastic experience to play on

I just wanted to say a big thanks to everyone who caught me up ingame and joined our community! We got a nice mixture of fresh air as well as old fellows returning.

When I made this thread we were at the 10th position and it wasn’t sure if we were able to make it into gold league nor if we do good. Everyone tried his best and people stayed up till 4 in the morning just to get the last points to get into the golden bracket.
Now the tournement closely comes to an end and people still stay up till 4 in the morning and try their best. We get double teamed left and right for the last 3 weeks while the focus on the last reset night for both servers was 80% deso, we don’t lose fighting spirit. We are actually tied for the 2nd place!

So what I want is to say
Thank you community! First off for the good communication and integration inbetween the server and secondly for every individual showing his dedication and pulling on the same rope giving his best for the server.

(Even though the season is ending soon, we like to establish desolation as a strong WvW server, so there is still room for nice fellows and guilds especially for the early morning hours!)

I think all the regular Deso WvWvW players know that SFR is not playing not at full force this week. Same for Desolation. During the weekend we had short queues to 2/3 of the BLs + EB at prime time, but now during week, no queues and even prime time is strangely empty. I don’t know Riverside well enough to know if they are slacking this week as well. Riverside has several formidable guilds, but the coverage is their weakness.

SFR has already won, but the last week is going to decide who will get positions #2-#8 in the gold. So everything is still open.

Desolation still needs dedicated WvWvW guilds, PuG/militia commanders and players, who are not going to give up no matter what are the odds. We have gotten surprisingly far using mostly PuGs/militia.

After the Spring season the deck is going to be shuffled any case. Augury Rock will drop to silver. Gandara will surely rise to gold, if their community can just tolerate the endless queues and blobbing. FSP seems to have good coverage as well, but is that enough for gold, I am not sure. Many Desolation heroes need a long awaited rest.

Season 3 here we come!

He means Season 3. Desolation is Full, some days we have 30 man queues during prime time, I imagine it’ll be worse during the tourney.

Only consider if you’re a wvwer, if you play during EU daytime or some other timezone that covers those hours.

I can confirm that Desolation is prime time (7-9 PM GMT) is getting full. We have sometimes queue on all 4 maps. Granted the queue is often short (2-15 players), and lasts less than 5 minutes, the queues are most likely going to be considerably longer during the Tournament. EB can have even 50+ man queue on busiest evenings, like reset.

It doesn’t make sense for large guilds, who want to play on prime to transfer to Desolation or the other top EU servers (they are also stacked), but outside prime time Desolation doesn’t have queues.

We would need players, PuG/militia commanders and roaming teams who want to play outside the prime time, especially on the mornings and noon. We are often faced with enemy enemy, who has lots of players at such hours, so you would not be doing just pvd, but getting actual fights. Several of our opposing servers run multiple roaming teams so if you are looking for small scale fights, Desolation is a good server to transfer as you can often face enemy teams of similar size (plus their blobs, but good roaming teams should be able to avoid them).

Desolation is truly international and multilingual. We got players all over the world. Server wide team Speak with fair share of humor in it. If your server is becoming boring place to play, Join the fun!

Desolation, Current EU rank 2, is Not Just Mindless Blobbing

Many people falsely think that EU tier 1 servers are nothing but blobbing. I am solo roaming and playing small scale almost every day. And I am not the only one. Desolation needs more small scale roamers. If you are sneaky enough, you can capture anything even in prime time. And don’t forget the game breaking bush camouflage tactic:

NA, Oceanic and Asian and off-peak time players

We already got a very strong night team and players from all the of above regions. Couple of other EU servers have been recruiting NA players as well, so you will not fighting alone or facing just undefended doors.

We especially need players, PuG/militia commanders and guilds, who are willing to play outside the busiest prime time (07:00 to 10:00 pm GMT).

No Queues Outside Prime Time

As you can see from the attached screen shot (taken today around noon), we are often outnumbered on 3 out of the 4 maps outside prime time. This means no queue. Despite being often outnumbered we are often able to generate a nice tick (400 in the screen shot taken by me). We coordinate the efforts between the different maps. When we are not outnumbered, it is loot bag collection time. EU tier 1 is still offering epic fights every day.

The Fall 2014 Tournament will begin in just 3 days, on 12th of September 2014. After that you won’t be able to transfer and play as long as long as the 4 week tournament lasts. Be prepared for queues then, but the enemy servers will have them for sure (and probably worse).
