Ah, the good old Eorlingas. Since I love GW2 community, I’m going to give some insights so whoever is looking for a guild can make a well informed decision.
>A semi-casual guild
More like casual. There is nothing wrong about being casual, but lying to a potential recruit is a bit unfair. I know they can barely clear wing 1 during the week. When pugs have a better success rate, it’s a bit kitteny to call yourself “semi-casual”.
>we will purge any toxic elements from the guild
They did : I was kicked. I’m not gonna argue whether I deserved it our not (I wouldn’t be very objective). What is intriguing to me is why they kicked 3 of their most active players at the time (officers as well) in the process. I mean their only wrong doing was to say “hello” when I was around.
That being said, I’ve heard they had to “purge” again after I was gone. Oh boy, the community must be really toxic…. or maybe the problem is coming from somewhere else.
>but only after attempts to find common ground have failed
Read : “your opinion is different than ours, so we will kick you”.
>We don’t require you to be the best of the best, but we do expect people to be open to learning and growing their skills (like we ourselves have done over the years).
Back when I Arah was still a terribly difficult dungeon for me (and still a non-toxic nobody in the guild), I was denied joining parties because I wasn’t experienced enough. Interestingly enough I managed to get Dungoneer by mostly pugging with people kind enough.
>for people who are searching for a main guild (i.e. mainly representing Eorlingas)
They seem unaware about how pointless rep requirements are since Anet introduced all those nice QoL changes regarding the guild channels. Also, some of their officers are known for having pve side guilds. Do what I say, not what I do.
>we do expect you to have common sense and decency when it comes to dealing with other people.
Read : “agree with us, bash on the same people we like to bash on, don’t bring your new ideas, don’t question why the guild leader and half the officers are barely online anymore”
>that doesn’t mean you have to be a certain age; maturity isn’t necessarily defined by that
I stopped counting the number of time that Sander Marshall said “are you 12yo?” when he disagreed with someone and thought this argument would end the discussion.
>send a message to one of the Marshals (officers)
If you’re wondering why the guild leader isn’t even in this list it’s because he wants nothing to do with this thread (I would add that he’s also offline most of the time, but he may have come back to an active state). When the leaders of a guild can’t agree on a common line, you know you’re in for a ride.
In conclusion, this is the guild you’re looking for if you’re the discreet kind of player who barely talk on ts and that doesn’t want to get involved with anything a guild can provide. If you have a strong character or if you like to discuss and debate meta and/or builds, you should probably avoid EORL.
Most of the officers will refuse to solve conflicts : they’ll let those conflict gangrene the guild until they have to “purge”. Also, never ever question or disagree with Sander. He hates that, a lot.
That being said, there is a 2 weeks trial period, so don’t take my word for it and see for yourself. After all, who would believe a seemingly bitter player a year after the fact?
PS: Hey Don, hey San, if you see Far, tell him I said hello.
Thanks for the bump, Yornn! I’ll tell Far you said hi.

Hey, I just had a nice conversation with one of your members, so I thought it would be a good time to gift EORL with a footage of a Sloth kill I had the chance to be part of.
It’s in glorious 4k so you can see every bit of detail and use it to further improve your tactics.
Cheers.
