I am thinking about transferring to SBI orGOM
If you want to go where people are, Stormbluff Isle has more people than Gate of Madness in WvW.
Edit: Though is Stormbluff Isle ends up in the silver league, it’s probably going to be very boring for them is what I think.

Yes, it will. We’re hoping RNG favors us in the upcoming weeks and we end up in Gold league even if that means we’re the ones getting destroyed several weeks in a row.
We have people and we do see queues now during primetime though not as long as some people will have you think. But we’ll see what happens when we face a server like SoR or BG and the fairweathers go back to PvEing.
Since you didn’t list playtime, I will warn we are thin on overnight/morning coverage. We have some dedicated NA players that do all nighters but will likely lose any match against a server with true Oceanic coverage.
If your tired of a dead server go to SBI. GoM is dead / dieing

I transferred to SBI a few days ago and so far I love it. There is such a strong sense of community here. I believe that 5 or 6 WvW-focused guilds have transferred to SBI in just the last month.

Having a lower population and being dead isn’t the same thing. =P
If those are the only two choices, SBI is the better idea. GoM seems to be going downhill.

GoM is dying? Please, we have a ‘very high’ population and constantly get overflows at boss events, I doubt that’s ‘dying’. True, GoM lost a lot of WvW guilds, but we’re recovering. When leagues are released and there is temptation to enter wvw, I can assure you that a lot of our PvE’ers will head into WvW. On top of that, theGoM community is great and has a huge variety of amazing guilds. If you’re looking for a great PvE and a challenging WvW experience, GoM is for you

Forgive me if I offend. I’m just speaking from what I saw last week in our match up. My server is suffering as well to transfers and guilds falling apart. (again my opinion from what I have witnessed) What I can say is that on labor day NSP took GoM Hills and Bay and held both for 14 hours each. During that time the largest group I saw trying to get either back was 15-20 people.
SBI has been fielding 30+ in our Borderland this week at almost all hours of the day. Reset SBI had 2 40 man zergs attacking us and had enough people in their borderland to easily fend off a 30 man zerg. Roaming in either borderland as a solo or 3-5 man group has been a nightmare on any borderland.
So these are my observations about both server.

No offense taken :p At this moment in time, I agree that SBI is undoubtedly the better server if you’re looking for a WvW experience. And yes, NSP destroyed us last week, aa we struggled to get people into WvW, but this week alone we’re seeing a steady increase.

That’s great to hear, I was afraid that with RISE transferring out that some of the organized groups would decline as well. I know NSP would be at a huge loss without Os.

We’ve suffered a bit of Borderlands action due to RISE leaving, but honestly, I don’t think it’s been that detrimental to GoM overall. We still have a large number of organised groups hitting Borderlands such as ART and RICH from what I’ve seen.
There are Anet Devs in SBI, I’m sure they are taking notice in the current matchup and how strong SBI has become. Don’t be surprised if SBI ended up in T3 on Friday reset.

… what? You can’t seriously believe that. Do you even play this game?
SBI is a lot stronger than their current rating and they are on the rise. They house some very good fighters and guilds. They even have decent coverage. Their tactics have positively evolved in recent weeks making them a formidable mid-pack server. They don’t seem to roam as much as other servers I have faced though.
Don’t know anything about GOM.
A pitch for my current home: BP is pretty similar to SBI and an enjoyable place to be. BP is strong on weekdays during NA Prime which is great if you are a weekday player. We have a nice NA morning presence. A lot of personality on this server more so than any server I have been on. There is also a pretty solid mix of skill groups, roamers and zergs.

This week #14 KN is facing #6 Dragonbrand.
I think SBI could provide a good fight in T3 but I think they are entering the range of possible matches that will result in painful matches as well.

Yeah, that’s reasonable. A few weeks ago I also was in a match that had a 8 rank difference too.
What I think is ridiculous is the implication he made though that was that because his server had ArenaNet employees (heck, is there a server that doesn’t?) they would somehow intervene (because they’re all clearly in charge of WvW?) and try to prevent a match so terrible that #1 is leading #2 by 60k points.

Haha, yeah, we are just not a weekend/holiday server for whatever reason. We tend to bring it on the weekdays a lot more consistently.
I am confused by the OP’s choices here, though… SBI and GoM are definitely not the same experience. From what I’ve heard, SBI is pretty large and probably headed for one of the top tiers. So, I guess it depends on whether you want to run with a zerg or be able to do more small group/roaming stuff. Not that we don’t get zergs on GoM, but they’re usually the result of temporarily pulling together our small groups and roamers (although I hear EB gets pug zergs all the time ).
Going to be honest here – yes, GoM has lost people. But we are definitely not dying or dead! We’re pretty darn stubborn here, and we’ll fight even if we have five people to field against 40-50. (I didn’t say it’d be a long fight! ) If you want a well established, large community, then SBI is probably your better option. If you want to be a part of growing a community, then come to GoM. We have cookies cupcakes.
I can say this, a month or two ago GOM would absolutely wipe the floor with us on FC, no contest, double our score, 60 man zergs to our 10, all week long.
Check the score this week. We have had no major inflows that I know of, its the same people on FC that I have seen for the last six months, so that tells me that GOM, at least on WvW is on the way down and not up.
But maybe you are the type that finds that challenging and are looking to turn it around?

Like I said, we’ve definitely lost people. But the general attitude on the server right now is that we’re pretty much on the rebound again. The guilds still here are too stubborn to leave, so we’re done losing large groups of people at once, and we’ve been reaching out to the massive pve guilds on our server. We would obviously welcome transfers that feel GoM would be a good fit for them, but we definitely want to try to get more pveers on our server interested in wvw and involved in our server alliance. We’re pretty excited to see how we grow from here.

I think it’s because of the cost of gems to each server. SBI has the lowest server pop of any server in the top 12 (they are going to be top 12 soon) and GoM is probably the most affordable overall.
I personally think it’s worth the difference in gems to find a best fit for yourself, but I know some people are trying to enjoy this game on a shoestring budget and don’t want to spend months farming for a transfer.

Sadly, that’s not true. GoM is “Very High” population around the clock, which makes building our WvW community extremely difficult due to having max transfer fees. WvW can be a ghost town on some nights, but pop over into a Scarlet event and it’s common to see 10+ commander tags running around.
eh reset night 30-40m queues on all maps SBI wise
I’m STILL Waiting to get in
[TBT]
Èl Cid
have fun sitting in queues if you xfer to sbi heh
[Teef] guild :>
The queues for SBI used to be non-existent except for Eternal Battlegrounds. The last week or two has seen more queuing for prime time hours. Reset night for the first 90 minutes is challenging unless you are in right away. Outside of that there is very low queuing to worry about.
Queues exist on SBI right now – but mostly on EB and on reset nights – even then it was about 10 mins max. It is what it is – not like anyone can control it. I still find it better to wait 10 mins to get into a full BL then to see an outmaned icon. But to each his own.
Anyway – we will welcome anyone who transfers to SBI -WvW or PvE or anything in the middle. No pressure to perform but no guarantees either.
If anyone wants details – better contact Radioactive or Jyeoi – they are the most knowledgeable about our WvW situation. Recruiting threads are …. meh.
