Guild Wars 2

Hey guys, I am about 5 months “new” to guild wars, I love the game. I am an intermediate player at best on the Isle of Janthir with 3 level 80’s (ranger, mesmer & a thief) and a 78 (guardian) in the works.

I run mostly solo not by choice but the few guilds I have joined I just didn’t feel like I fit in. I run in PvE, am currently learning the dungeons/fractals and have done a little WvW.

Anyway my 10 year old son is extremely interested in playing GW2 with me. I was wondering if there are guilds that are kid friendly. I have noticed that there are some christian guilds which I am not opposed to but that is not exactly what I am looking for either.

I suppose I am looking for a tolerant, considerate & respectful guild that would mentor a few newbs wanting to become good players. I don’t mean uptight either. If anyone knows of any guild that may sound like a match please let me know I would really like to my son to join me, but do not want to expose him to some situations that he is not mature enough for yet. Hi Michris!

I read your post and found myself thinking that the community at TC would be perfect for helping you and your son learn the ropes of light pvp, dungeons and fractals in a relaxed, no-pressure environment.

Tarnished Cult has been around for a year and a half now, so we’re fairly established, and while our membership numbers have changed over the years, one thing that hasn’t is our policy of being kind and friendly to new players, so that they may have the chance to learn some of the more efficient tactics in dungeon/fotm speedruns without the pressure of an elitist screaming at you!

We originally formed as a group of people who were super fed up with the behavior in pugs and just wanted someone to chat to while we did our daily runs/dailies/activities.

As for your requirement for tolerance, I think I’d need some clarification on that. If you mean adult topics, then that will be no problem as, in the past, when we have had certain individuals explicitly talking about sexual topics in chat, that was shut down really fast. If you meant the raging that goes on in pick-up groups, then your son will be safe from that as well.

However while we don’t condone harsh language in guild chat, it can be hard (if not impossible) to keep everyone from using certain words when they’re expressing strong emotions. While I understand that the chat filter converts those words to stars, the meaning can sometimes be implied. I hope that won’t be a deal-breaker, but there you have it, I can’t say that I’ve never encountered a swear word in our gchat without lying, though I doubt it be easy to find a community in which that won’t occur, especially with mapchat being what it is.

I could always interest you in a spot in Wizened Wizards [WISE] guild. =)

We are a PvX casual, yet structured, guild who wants to try to take part in all aspects that GW2 has to offer. Although we are a guild with growing numbers, we take more accustomed to the phrase ‘quality over quantity’, and that’s what we intend to do.

Being a casual guild, I have my rule of never removing one for inactivity; play at your leisure. Although I cannot assure you that you may/may not see many on at your time (especially with some schoolers/workers in the guild), we will definitely be on to have a great time with you!

Being a structured guild, while we don’t necessarily have a rep requirement as you join, we do keep an eye on this based to on our rank system, basically showing your loyalty/commitment to our guild, while always having fun with the other guilds.

Although we are not on Maguuma as our home server, we do not make it required that you have to be on our home server (Northern Shiverpeaks) to join the guild at all. The type of voice communication we use is TeamSpeak 3, and I will try to get everyone to use it at that prime-time you listed!
