Hello

I’m looking for a new server and guild to join.
Looking for a friendly social atmosphere but one that takes a more serious approach to WvWvW.

I main a mesmer but have 80’s of all professions and all geared in exotics or above. I am willing to learn new tactics and open to new build ideas especially with my melee classes. My mesmer, necro and ranger are my strongest professions. Warrior and thief are my weakest. I am constantly looking to improve.

I have been a player since the very beginning of GW2. I’m open to pve, pvp and other activities but would like to focus on wvwvw. I commanded for the first year of gw2 on Darkhaven. I later left and went to Gate of Madness, learning their tactics and builds and improving my own play and commanding styles. I then returned to Darkhaven to find it worse then when I left it and am seeking to find a less chaotic server.

You should probably talk about what you are looking for in a server, things like a general sense of numbers, coverage, what type of guilds you’re interested in etc.

I could probably say Kaineng, but you probably wouldn’t be interested in a server that can perhaps field 20 people over 4 maps on reset night (and for the life of us can’t seem to ever do the same thing at the same time)

Ahahaha. No I’m looking for a server that can cover NA and Oceanic pretty well, as those are my most played time zones.
But I’m mostly interested in community attitude cause the attitudes on DH are generally pretty bad. And really sick of the massive amounts of trolls and negativity in wvw.
Maybe something that can field a 30+ zerg but even then it’s not about numbers, more about decent people and decent commanders. I would prefer Tier 2, 3 or 4. Tier one might be a bit too much pressure.

Rank 2 and 3 are T1, though.

Don’t know much about tier 2-4 so can’t help you there, but I think there are some changes incoming again, looks like a couple of servers might fall a bit down, and others rise up again.

And I don’t know if there are servers without trolls and negativity (or cheaters). We’re thankfully pretty light on those on my own server, goes with the low numbers I guess. But on the other hand, our "community" is "We roam!", so yeah.

Or join YB. We usually have one map queued on NA but the rest are open. We have the occasional siege troll from other servers but our community is especially strong (and stubborn to not give up).

Bg, TC, JQ, and Db is full I think. If you wanted any of those you will have to keep checking… Be aware that there are 4 t2 servers which screws up t3 right now as 1 drops down to that match each week…..

Most players who has chosen YB was never disappointed in the community. Once they join, they don’t leave. Ofcourse, I might be exaggerating a bit but the point is true.
YB is in Tier 2 right now and looking forward to enhance our coverage.

NSP is pretty much agreed upon as the server with the most stable community and WvW performance. Right now we’re enjoying an awesome matchup against DH and HoD. If you’re looking for a guild with a serious take on WvW but a casual atmosphere, I’d suggest looking in to [Raid]. They’re a fun group of people that are very open to running with the server, but also have fight-focused guild raids.

I’m very proud to have been a server admin on NSP for a year and a half, and have watched our community flourish the entire time. We’ve never been a bandwagon, have never had an exodus of guilds, and have had a stable website and teamspeak for the last year and a half. We also have a vast variety of guilds if you are looking for any more options.

Also just a note, YB is a cool server, I’m part of a guild on there as well. NiloyBardhan (above poster) says that it may be an exaggeration, but most players who choose YB are not disappointed. I can guarantee you without exaggeration that I have never heard a complaint about the NSP community from any new transfers. You can quote me on that one!

I hope you find a nice new home OP. If you enjoy commanding, I would definitely suggest somewhere in the T2-T3 range.

For your WvW needs, I recommend Stormbluff Isle server.

Every server can point to its characteristics; for SBI is known for its strong militia and is the historical home for Korean players during OCX. Although a strong pugmander environment, there are also guilds organized for GvG, zerg busting, roaming and other flavors.

Currently poised at the top of Tier 4, we fight at the ideal ranking for varied and balanced matches each week versus five other relatively competitive servers. Outside our tiers, matches are often against the same old opponents, completely lopsided blowouts, massive queues and blobs or, conversely, sparsely populated.

SBI is a stable server with an active community TeamSpeak so you and your friends can come here to stay and make a home.

Thank you for everyone’s Helpful advise. After speaking to so many people about the different servers I’ve got my list down to FA, HoD and NSP.
If any of you have more information to share about these three servers I’ve got a few more important questions to ask. If you don’t feel comfortable posting answers here you can feel free to mail me ingame.

1. What is your oceanic like in wvw? 5 people? 10? 20? 20+? And do they speak english? (I usually command the bridge time between NA and Oceanic but can go late into Oceanic if there are people) Do these people like to focus on defense or ppt?
2. Is there room for a pug commander in these these time slots during the week? At least once a week would be minimum.
3. Do you have regular server meetings with commanders and guild leaders to address issues or devise new tactics? (just a yes or no, don’t need details)
4. What are your strongest points? and what might need work? (honesty please, I want to know what I’m stepping into and might have strats to help some issues that I have previous experience with.)

Again. If you don’t feel comfortable posting on here, mail me ingame. I hold the information all in confidence. I am just looking to make an educated decision on where I’ll fit best and be of most use.

For FA:
1. 20+, very strong atm, probably strongest OCX of the four T2 servers followed by SoS. They speak English. It’s a mix of playstyles.
2. At least once a week, especially for EBG.
3. No, nothing regular. Such meetings are done only when guilds feel it is necessary.
4. FA’s strongest point is that no single playstyle dominates the general server mentality. No one is told how to play and those players that do tell others how to play are usually ignored. SEA time and transitions between timezones tend to be our weak points.

Of those three I recommend FA, even though their matchups may become stale at the top of Tier 2. NSP is also a good community but is mired in outmatched Tier 3 as a permanent punching bag – I’m surprised no one has mentioned this to you. I have no idea why considering HoD; as a known bandwagon server that rises and falls on population, the server epitomizes surges on the weekend then dies off during the week. I would recommend almost any other server in Tier 4 or 5.

I think FA is a good choice for you since they have more people on OCX than any server on t3 and below.

Also HoD right now is far from being a bandwagon server, during season 2 people went to HoD because of free transfer, then HoD imploded after season 2. For 6 Months, we were completely beaten and outnumbered, but our CORE guilds and players never gave up till we finally recruit enough people to get our first win in 6 months. Most people on HoD right now have proven their loyalty. We have a friendly and casual atmosphere on wvw which i think the reason were able to recover, unlike other server which completely imploded in just 2 to 3 months of defeat.

We are strong on weekend because we have a lot of PvX guild, on reset night were able to queue 3 maps, and have a decent zerg on 4th map. I think our pvx guilds only raid 2 to 3x per week, but if their is a good reason for the server to push, we could rely on them to constantly show up
