Guild Wars 2

Hi everyone!

I am a 28 year old casual player on Anvil Rock who mostly does PvE (although I do have occasional rampages through PvP). I am looking for a guild that is friendly and easy going and (here’s the kicker) not think that kitten /sexist/homophobic jokes are hilarious. I am a woman. I play female characters and I’ve been in a couple different guilds who, for the most part, have a great bunch of people on them. Then comes along someone (usually high ranking in the guild to boot) and starts making cracks about how we are totally “kitten ” enemy or about how said enemy is a insert derogatory homophobic comment here This may sound like a lot to ask, but I don’t like playing with trolls and am just trying to find a guild with a zero tolerance policy against comments like that. As I stated, I’ve been in guilds who claim too not accept that behavior but when I point it out to them I would generally get lambasted in chat instead of the person making the comments.

Now that I’ve gotten that out of the way, like I said, I am casual in play style but do have a couple lvl 80’s of various classes. I’ve run a the majority of the dungeons and (even thought its been a while) would even say I am fairly experienced in some of them. I like to joke around (despite my earlier paragraph. I do have a pretty good sense of humor). I really don’t want to have to guest or change servers so someone with a base on the Anvil Rock server would be preferable. I will also warn though that I am still in college so I do generally fall away during the school year. Right now I’m just looking for some fun people to hang out with over the summer.

Hiya Mz Quinn! I did read that you’re on AR and want to stay there (and no guesting), but I thought just in case you couldn’t find what you want there, I’d mention my guild as a fall-back plan. =)

Ember Solace is a Tarnished Coast guild of about 60 people that has a PvX focus with a lot of PvE/sPvP and some WvW. And, most importantly for your purposes, we have a very strong policy against discrimination. Here’s a quote from our Purpose & Principles, which all members have to sign:

“We are dedicated to being an affirming safe space for everyone at the margins: people of color, women, people from the LGBTQQIAA* community, people with disabilities, people who speak English as a second language, and more. If you are uncomfortable with people from these groups or if you are uncomfortable refraining from making prejudiced remarks, Ember Solace is not the guild for you. Our commitment to being a safe space is paramount. To this end, we do not allow any racist, misogynistic, transphobic, homophobic, or other prejudiced attitudes or comments. This carries across all means of communication in the guild: the forums, in-game systems (e.g., guild chat), and TeamSpeak. We believe all people deserve respect.”

My life mate and I both lead the guild, and we’re both queer (and I’m genderqueer), and I definitely have a no-tolerance policy for -isms. If you’d like to get a feel for the community, you can register on the forums to get read-access to our GW2 sections, which can give you a peek at what we’re like and what kinds of activities we tend to do.

We also understand people being busy. We ask that if you’re going to be gone for a long time, you just put in a Leave of Absence. Otherwise, we kick people after two months solid of not logging into the forums or guild, but that doesn’t happen often, and people are always free to re-apply. Oh, that reminds me — we have an application process to make sure our guild remains a safe space for everyone. It’s pretty brief and is designed to help make sure we’re what you’re looking for and you’re going to be a good fit for the guild.

Again, I know you’re hoping for Anvil Rock, and I really hope you can find what you want there. But just in case, if you decide to consider other servers, I wanted to reach out and say hi. =)
