Looking for a New Server
Hey all,
6 of us all IRL friends (25+ years old) have been on Anvil Rock for a year. It was fun, but our main WvW guilds transferred off TWICE, and now WvW is literally pointless. We live and breath PvP in WvW. We quit playing GW2 because it was so bad. We came back a few weeks ago and it hasn’t changed.
We are spread out across the US, working first and second shifts. Ideally we want a server with WvW happening all the time, but with a strong US timezone base.
I feel that SoR might be a good place. I’ve heard there are some problems with JQ’s guilds leaving.
Tier 2 TC, FA, and DB I’m not too familiar with.
I think we’d like to keep it to Tier 1 or Tier 2?
Can anyone suggest a new home for us that has a fun community and a very strong presence in WvW?
Thanks!
I’d go with anything T2/3 if I were you. T1 isnt worth the effort. Full of elitists looking for battles, Skill lag, and queues that reach 3-4 hours. No fun there. TC/FA/DB/SoS seem like servers that would fit your guys play styles. (SBI is going up in ranks as well, you may consider them)
SoR has a really great player community. I have many friends from SBI who left for there and absolutely love it. Definitely recommend. Make sure you check out their thread in the world recruitment forums for more info.

I think you and your buds are going to get zerged out & bored again on a t1/2 server.
Come join us on Northern Shiverpeaks! Our server has a strong PVE community so you’ll be able to find plenty of people to join you as you complete events and explore the world when WvW gets boring or you want to check out new content. Best of all, we have a very competitive WvW population – but we need more!
Our guild is looking for more competitive, active players to join us in mumble and roam WvW.
Black Crescent [BC] is proud to boast that we are an original GW1 guild, small (only <50 members), we are fun and casual. We don’t require much (no silly guild dues, mandatory meetings, or play how we say!) – just that you are an active player and represent.
Please check out our >>BC Recruiting Post<< on this forum.
Or stop by our site and fill out a very quick, easy >>recruitment app here<<.
Feel free to let me know if you have any questions or would like more info.
Hope to see you around!

Thank you all for your replies. This helps make our decision. If anyone else has any opinions please chime in!
Also, are the wait times actually that long for all battlegrounds on reset?
On T1(SoR perspective) on reset the queues can be long. Anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour. The worst I’ve experienced was 2 hours when we first entered T1. EB is particularly the worse, however there should be no problem during the rest of the week, as queues are short or nonexistant.
However, be warned T1 is extremely zergy. While there are havoc squads and plenty of roamers to fight, due to the nature of T1 being zergy, there can be skill lag at times.
As you go up in ranks you see a general trend in increase of group size (zergs) and in coverage.
Given your group size and experience in PvP I think you would be disappointed in T1 and probably even the current T2.
T3 is about the level that small groups with high skill can start making a difference again. Any of the t3 and t4 servers would be glad to have you.
If you want to know more about Sea of Sorrows I’ll gladly talk with you and ask any questions you have.
Either way, good luck with your search.
Thanks again for the help!
We both roam and group up, and aren’t worried about being in a zerg, but allllll the time zerging might be boring.
So, if we do T1 I’m thinking SoR.
T2 I’m thinking FA, I hear they have a fun NA base, correct me if I’m wrong. But they.have a bad Oceanic and EU presence?
As for T3, it seems SoS needs more NA, which I fear will mean a similar experience to what I have now (bad). I’m not sure about the others.
How is TC?
Which servers have srtong NA, and average Oceanic/EU?

All this talk about T1 being zergy is going to be pretty much moot when the big wvw patch comes out. I can’t speak for other servers, but the major wvw guilds on SoR have been practicing their small group fighting because trying to zerg the 5 control points and assault/hold the keeps, camps and towers is going to be an exercise in futility.
So guilds that are thinking about transferring need to ask themselves: which servers/tiers have the community and coordination to manage both zerging the outside and small group fighting on the inner CPs. I strongly believe that SoR is one of them.
Thanks again for the help!

SoS needs NA in comparison to the matches we commonly get. We have a good number of NA groups, especially compared to AR, even when they still had people.
