Champion Shadow
Better Luck Next Time [BLNT]-Sea of Sorrows
A few members of my guild and I are looking to relocate from our current server to one that feels much more active in WvW. My guildmates and I specialize in small team fights and are all extremely skilled at our roles, and working for objectives as a small team. It is not uncommon for us to be on the winning end of 4 vs 10+ scenarios, us being the 4. We are looking for a server with an active WvW community that feels like less of a struggle than our current home.
The reason i post this is because GoM has been my only server since launch and i really don’t know anything about other servers except for the ones we have fought (talking recently of course).
So far i have looked into T1 servers but i think i have swayed away from that out of fear for skill lag, ankitten ow focusing mostly on DB, FA, SoS, or SBI.
If anybody could give me any valuable information on these servers and which could be the better choice, and why, that would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Hi there Heizero,
You sound like a perfect fit for Sea of Sorrows. We’re currently at the top of tier 3 and are building up so that we can have competitive matchups against Tier2 servers on a more even playing field (NA numbers-wise).
We typically have 4 or so mid-sized guilds on TS during NA(countless militia), there is a need for small groups like yours that specialize in small-scale tactical warfare.
You would find yourself in good company as our dedicated WvW groups hit as hard or harder (man for man) than anyone we’ve faced.
We’re not as zergy as the other servers on your list, but as much as I respect all 3 (honestly) I think we are more fun than them

PM me or any of the reps on our recruitment post if you want to know more or would like to arrange to meet some of us on TS and ask some questions.
GL in your search no matter where you end up.

Nsp. Just look up xoxo, SPCA, splt, or tm in regards to roaming on YouTube.
Active small man server is active.
ballymun many of us are serious about WvW, have spent time in T1 (when there was actually a T1) but choosing not be there at the moment. An SoS/Mag/FA matchup is just going to be different from a JQ/SoR/BG one.
Heizero I would look most closely at SBI and SoS as I reckon those two would fit what you look for best.
FA has a very high population of PVX and PVE. Our WvW population has recently been bolstered by RISE/MEOW jumping over here.
Before it was announced this that this ridiculous bloodlust buff was coming around, many of the serious wvw guilds (theres lots of them) were focused on this type of thing as a way to improve. We typically have out-manned buff a couple hours after Reset (fair-weathers log off after getting pounded on by larger wvw servers)
If lag/queue times are your issue, FA has not much of either so long as you avoid EB.
Sometimes it feels pretty lopsided on Gate of Madness but it’s a lot more lopsided in the top tiers (just check the scores on millenium) and it’ll only get worse once the leagues start regularly pairing up the top 3 servers with the other 9 below them.
If you just want zergier, you can get that but I wouldn’t expect the match ups to be any more fun.
So I think after looking into it a bit more we have narrowed down the list to either FA or DB. Appreciate the responses so far.
FA would be a good choice. I don’t know enough about DB to comment.
Take a good look at IOJ. There is a very strong wvw population here that is growing everyday. The community is great and supportive of the WvW effort on the server. There are many small roaming groups and it sounds like you guys would fit in just fine.

DB doesn’t seem to use roamers and small groups at all. They have been toning down their mega-zerging but they still tend to run in 30-40 deep groups typically.
If you are planning on keeping your group together and staying the same size you’d probably get more mileage out of FA.
When I was on JQ, DB would have all their guild groups running together on a map. It’d be two or three groups of 30 organized guild groups to fight. FA runs smaller groups. I’d run into group of 10 ramming a gate.
I had a terrible time roaming on T1. I went mainly to zerg so it wasn’t a problem in that sense. I’d spend half my WvW time avoiding the zerg. I prefer lower tiers because I can head toward the orange swords (instead of away).
If you have any questions about FA, just send me a pm or something. I have been on FA for over a year. I have also been on FC/BG/SOS. So I have some perspective on how it matches up
Of DB/FA I like playing against FA a lot more for some of the reasons mentioned above. They have pretty good representation across all timezones as well.
Good luck.
