I’m looking for a new server to play for and will probably move to a T1 server … so a question: what do you think are SoR’s relative strengths compared to Blackgate? I’ve also not played against Blackgate and not played for Blackgate for a year as well, so I don’t know what it’s like, but the recruitment thread’s cited:

1) Enough of a population to defend EBG and home borderlands during off-peak hours;
2) Strong community (vague though – don’t know what is meant by “strong”);
3) Dedicated commanders that don’t tag down until a replacement is available;
4) (Many?) players who are happy to do things that earn them no rewards but are invaluable to the server, such as refresh siege, speed up Yaks, scout enemy zergs, etc;
5) Relatively little queue times, but there’s always something to do;
6) Strong PvE community that among others was the first to kill Teq.

Compared to BG, what does SoR do well?

Apologies for asking such a difficult question as well – but with transfers costing so much money, I need to be confident I’m making the right choice. Sorry!

1. Our off hour presence is relatively equal to that of BG
2. As for having a strong community, an example of it would be during the weekly meeting, anyone can chime in and they will be listened to.
3. We have plenty of commanders that won’t tag down until we notify the other forces of our departure. (sometimes like during EU, we have 2 major forces that map hop, so a commander won’t always be on the map)
4. A good amount of people have no problem doing reward-less jobs, and usually guilds assign scouts (they stay for 30 minutes and are then switched out)
5. In t1, there is always something to do, queue times are dependent on several factors.
-If we are in a blow out match, there will be insane queues on the maps that have any shred of action
-Resets usually have around 20-30 minute queues, unless you are queuing for EB
6. As for a pve community, it is probably just like any other server (excluding TC, JQ, and BG), there is always people on every map, but we aren’t the type that gets the first teq kill.
As for what does SoR do better than BG, I cannot say. (haven’t been on BG)
But as far as wvwvw goes, sometimes the commanders/guilds get a little goofy.
-FEAR, TW, and I think Choo had a bet to see which of them could wp their keep first, on a reset night.
-TW transferred to JQ on a blow off week and couldn’t come back to SoR till saturday, so FEAR placed a bounty on one of TW’s commanders, prize ended up being 150g?, which an IRON member won.
So I’d say we are a little less serious.

What community VOIP do we use? Teamspeak (Currently #2 in North America most widely used teamspeak server 300+ day-in day-out)

Do you have server commanders?Yes, we do have specific server commander who not only commands their guilds but also the Rallians.

Facts:None of the guilds that came here regretted their choice. They stayed and currently enjoying the community we have right now! The main guilds have been here for almost a year now.

Just for clarification. This thread is not just for community recruitment, but also for the individual guilds in SOR. All of our guilds are actively recruiting and looking for passionate and devoted wvwvw’ers. If you have any questions about the server please whisper me. If you have any questions about individual guilds, please get in contact with an officer or leader.

I think Dgin said it best; all of our major/main guilds have been with SoR through thick and thin. We’re all very dedicated to our server.

SoR is by far the best community I have ever been a part of. Great Commanders, good times, lots of entertainment, and by far the drunkest server.

It’s a shame you don’t value PPT. It’s a part of the game people would leave to join higher rated servers, you know to win. If SOR doesn’t value this part of the game, what are you offering that would entice people to join that they don’t already have on their current server?

We will safely assume that you are not trolling in your post. So I will give you a straight answer. Do note that in my answer that I’m am making a judgement on you nor your server leadership.

The PPT meta prescribed by Anet only leads to one logical end, and that is coverage over time with objectives held. That makes it a pure numbers agenda. I know that BG has worked very hard (like Titan Alliance and JQ) to reach the pinnacle of this meta and have met with tremendous success. Eg wins with >50-150k PPT. However, we have examined this meta and though it is fun at one level, we decided to put PPT on 2nd priority. Note that we still enjoy good PPT but that is not the key pursuit for the SOR community.

Most Rallians really enjoy the 20v20 or 30v30 fights, whether it being in the open field or sieging. Having those fights is a priority. And only T1 offers this outside of NA time. It’s plenty fun to find these type of epic battles in SEA time for me also.
