Guild Wars 2

So this old man is coming back to GW2 after a hiatus.

After 3 weeks I have not found the proper guild yet so, thinking this might be a good place to post, here goes.

The proper guild for me will:
1. Be PvE-only… any and all aspects
2. Have only retired (60+ years) members
3. Utilize TS/Mumble/Discord (whatever)
4. Promote a helpful, friendly, funny environment (without bathroom humor or gratuitous profanity)
5. Not require rep

Yea, that may be a whole lot to ask.

Has anyone heard of such a guild? Lemme know.

Hi Downhill,

We seek adults, new and experienced. We are not looking for members we are looking for friendships. Those who want a PvE casual/friendly guild. Players from all servers are welcome. Female Friendly Guild.

We realize this is a game and having fun is important, but real life comes first. So, if you need time away from the guild. Don’t worry we will be here waiting.

We do a little of everything that includes Fractals/Dungeons/Raids.

We have Guild Missions/Guild Events most nights.

We have TS and a “Fully upgraded” PVP arena in the level 59 guild hall.

We have a separate PVP arena outside of the guild.

We currently have around 170 people, we are a small helpful guild.

We are seeking people for all time zones. Remember we are on NA servers.

Hey, Downhill, there was a guild that almost fits your list but I can’t remember the name of it right now. You will likely have to compromise on point 2. A guild that restricts itself to 60+ y.o. members is going to have a difficult time finding those members. For example, I have 2 retirees in my guild but neither are 60, close but not there yet. I would recommend you try a small PvE guild. There will be some younger members however this generation is helpful, lighthearted, and accepting. I know my young Knights put up with me and the other older guys pretty darn well. Anyway, I’ll do some leg work and send you a message in game with a guild name and PoC if I can track that guild down.

Hi Downhill! I’m also >60 and retired and been playing ~5 yrs.

PUGS on Jade Quarry is a mature guild but not exclusive and has open membership . My guild [DAWG]-‘Denies Age With Gaming’ is 4 members only and really just a guild bank for storage.

Its generally interesting when someone on a map makes reference to age and you see how many older players are out there.

Good luck. I generally stay fairly quiet because of the age disparity!

I know it will be hard to find a match, but, like most curmudgeons, I am too old and set in my ways to compromise. Lol

That was the one I was thinking of; thanks Needbeer.

Running a guild is a lot of work but also very satisfying when you see it take shape and know that you had a hand in developing the culture. Just keep looking and I would suggest asking in Map chat in the major cities. You may get lucky and find a guild you like.

Tyrs Paladium is a renowned multi-game, drama free, zerg free guild for gamers 30 years of age and older (most are early 30s-70s+) that has expanded to the Guild Wars 2 game and community. We have two simple concepts. We are drama free and we don’t zerg (rush ahead leaving others behind).

We are quite organized and live by our motto: Play hard, laugh hard and win, together. We are very friendly to the new player, returning player, and a veteran player that likes to group with knowledgeable folks without all the typical egos, drama and riff-raff of the typical guild. And Yes we actually enforce our policies.

PS: It’s a great time to join Tyrs Paladium. We are a no drama social guild of many years that is literally a household name in two games, DDO and Neverwinter, and are in the process earning our good name in Guild Wars 2. We are a PvE centric guild. If you DO see PvP in Tyrs, its NEVER required, and there is ZERO PvP attitudes. We are a PvE dominant guild… and proud of it. Everyone PvEs in Tyrs.

2. Have only retired (60+ years) members
We hire 30+ with RARE exception. No kids. MANY of our members are 60+. Many are officers and we literally promote 60+ in our recruitment thread title and have for years. You will LOVE IT in Tyrs! You’ll fit right in.

3. Utilize TS/Mumble/Discord (whatever)

We use Teamspeak 3. We have our own server.

4. Promote a helpful, friendly, funny environment (without bathroom humor or gratuitous profanity)

We have strict guild rules. Lots of fun and camaraderie here. Major profanity or harassment is strictly forbidden. In fact we just nuked someone for their bad language. We enforce our guild rules. Guildies rely on us for that.

5. Not require rep
We love rep but don’t ask our guildies for it or anything else. We have VERY generous guildies and we figure when you are ready, willing and able, you’ll give!

Yea, that may be a whole lot to ask.
