About Us:
Penguin Squad will turn 10 years old in March. We have been around since GW1 and have been active every day since the launch of GW2. We are based on Darkhaven (80-85% of our members) but welcome anyone.
We currently keep our roster at ~300 members with 100+ logins a day and always take recruitment approaches that allow us to chat with members before inviting. We aren’t picking up the randos in Lion’s Arch and we don’t have some lame recruitment spam.
We participate in the 3 areas of GW2 but favor PvE. We do have weekly scheduled WvW guild runs and have participated in pvp flings as well as two Tournaments of Legends. Interest in PvE is always steady but WvW and PvP interest fluctuate and spike when events such as WvW Seasons or PvP leagues get thrown into the mix.
As a guild we have times set aside weekly for guild missions, WvW, Raiding, and sprinkle in guild events such as our Tyrian Half Marathon, Costume Contests, Scavenger Hunts, PvP matches, etc.
Player Base Overview:
Prime Time is 7PM – Midnight ET
~300 Members/100+ logins a day
~60 over 10k Ach Points
~30 fractal lvl 50+
~ Lots WvW rank 1k+
~15-20 Members with Ruby Rank or higher in last pvp league
~30-35 members with multiple kills on the current raid bosses
PvE Overview:
We tend to have our own style in PvE content. We full clear content and frown upon corner stacking and skipping mobs. For this reason you will more than likly find yourself 3-4 manning content instead of finding a puggy from LFG.
Missions:
We run all 10 guild missions weekly and spread them out over Monday and Tuesday nights. We normally have 25-30 members participating in missions and have a very strong base who are familiar with them all. It’s a one and done, no rerolling bounties or challenges because we failed
Raiding:
We have 2 dedicated raid times but do not use “Raid Teams”. If you express interest you will get in on runs. Each time slot has a leader that works on putting the group together so we make sure folks get in or get kills of bosses they need.
We offer a training session on Thursdays that is lead by an officer on a specific section/boss of the raid. This timeslot is geared for anyone new, shy, or those that aren’t sure if it is for them. It is the perfect time to ask questiosn, try builds, and learn mechanics without any pressure to kill a boss.
Fractals/Dungeons/Metas:
Fractals are ran pretty much daily but due to the recent change in dungeons there are not alot of them being ran unless people speak up about specific needs.
We do not do large metas alone (Teq, Worm) but you can always find small-medium groups participating in metas together.
WvW Overview:
We represent Darkhaven in WvW and have a set guild WvW run on Wednesday nights. We normally draw anywhere from 10-20 for the guild run. Apart from season play groups of 10 or more are not common but you can expect to find smaller groups out doing dailies, roaming, or running with the zerg.
PvP Overview:
We have a much smaller player base that is interested in PvP. We do have a custom arena for random event and have had flings of weekly match meetings. Interest peaks during league play and we had multiple members get into diamond and 1 reach legendary rank.
We have participated in the past 2 tournament of legends winning ourselves a few llamas and finishers but don’t expect to slaughter any of the more serious competetion.
