What Qugi posted is good, but there’s actually a whole website devoted to it with their own little forums.
http://www.guildwars2roleplayers.com/
Check it out! There’s hub guilds for just casual finding of RP and more serious guilds with actual plots and such. Have a look, make an account and say hi, we can always use more.
Agree with Qugi, we don’t have a RP server and most of the player base are old MMO hands so it’s all about the technical and not lore and story so an RP guild would be your best shot. Don’t know how you would find one.
RIP City of Heroes
used to see a lot of rpers on TC, before megaserver, there used to be rp spots in DR.
well, nowadays, you had to join RP guilds to rp otherwise it is really hard to get people onto the same instance
Henge of Denravi Server
www.gw2time.com
Still dont see why theres no sub section for rp like in wow forums
I run into RPers every so often on EU servers, mainly in Rata Sum and Divinity’s Reach.
I don’t know how many more I don’t notice in other areas because they tend to use the emote channel when they’re not using guild chat and I tend to keep it turned off to avoid the spam (not from RPers, from people who feel the need to sit 15 times in 30 seconds).
You might be able to find them simply by visiting cities at peak time and looking around.
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
I’ve seen a decent number of RP Guilds (such as on the TC server though we have cross-servers). There are also guilds that dabble in everything Guild Wars 2 has to offer, from PvE, Missions, and Roleplaying, as well.
TC is the American server for RP, Piken Square “was” the European one and still somewhat is if your looking for RP in Europe, but most of it is guild oriented outside of DR.
Amaranthe.3578, ArenaNet has a long reputation of paying no attention to the needs or desires of role-playing gamers. Nevertheless, GW2 has had, and still has, an active and vibrant RP “scene” despite the random instancing that destroys any possible sense of “server community” found in other games.
Forums devoted to role-playing, including characters, guilds, etc. can be found at: http://www.guildwars2roleplayers.com/
If you are an NA roleplayer, the most useful guild is TCRP – a “hub” guild primarily designed to facilitate player meet-ups. Anyone in the guild can invite you – if there is room.
There is no way to manually select an instance (unlike other games with instanced “zones”). However, representing a guild significantly biases the instance logic to putting you in the same zone as other guild members – in this case TCRP roleplayers! Failing that, you can use guild chat to request a “taxi” (a method that exploits party mechanics to get you into a specific zone).
The zone with the most open-world RP every day is Divinity’s Reach, the human home city. This the place where you find like-minded players. The scene there has been vibrant for years, including RP guilds for the two competing city police forces, the “Krytan Ministry” guild to represents the human kingdom government (and does it well, by RP standards), and even a brothel guild (The Coin) with its own semi-secret tavern location. There are also three more conventional taverns (Busted Flagon, Maiden’s Whisper, and “The Sun” in the Ossan) available in Divinity’s Reach that are commonly used by RPers, especially “The Sun.”
The only recent game I’ve encountered with a stronger RP environment is Final Fantasy XIV. However, the main RP server there has been closed to new accounts for years (there are ways around that using character-transfers between servers, but it’s costly).
