I don’t mind running into new guilds on different servers to freshen things up. It’s just annoying that ANet is now killing what we worked hard to make, a small man tier. Sure it would be very fun to fight RH again, but running into the GoM zergs and getting a small fight in once every hour doesn’t really do it for me. I like tier 8 right now as it is easy to find multiple small groups in a short period of time. Just as tier 8 is starting to grow in competitive gameplay, ANet seems to be shutting it down. I guess I’ll hold my speculations until ANet releases what type of algorithm they are using for tier mixing. Maybe it won’t be as significant of a change as I am thinking it will be.

i dont think added volatility is going to be much of an issue for t8. this change should be something along the lines of what we were begging/qqing for a couple months ago with all the t8 threads: that ridiculously imbalanced matches be allowed to quickly dissipate or swap without affecting really close matches too much. so far t8 is close enough to remain fun when servers dont just give up for the week. dont expect too many changes unless 1 server can continuously win by like 50k+ for several weeks, and even then that server would probably naturally move up anyways thanks to the bandaid placed on #23 and #24 a month ish back.

t8 is no longer the problem this solution is being put in place for. when sf was here, it was.

What Anet doesn’t understand is we don’t care about the zergs….If we were promoting zerg busting tier we would have named it that, and not moved guilds to t8. We’re talking about small man vs small man….5 aoe cap allows for zerg busting to effectively not be fun regardless.

We shall see how this turns out, pretty vague description (as expected) from Anet.

I’m sure it’s being put in to break up some of the more long-standing match ups in every tier, cause people likely get bored fighting the same servers/guilds all the time.

Unfortunately it also spells doom for this project, theoretically. It might not be TOO bad though, even if it shifts every week it should only be the T7/T8 servers cycling in and out, and you could probably encourage the small groups on those other servers to get on board with your project by designating one of the BLs each night as the roaming zone, as has been suggested/used before. Biggest issue comes from say HoD moving up, then PAXA and KoM are screwed for however long it takes to get back down. To keep the utopia going you might have to increase your influence to all the T7/8 servers. Granted that all depends on how often it’s going to shift, and is quite the idealistic feat.

Failing to see how KoM and PAXA would be screwed when both 5 mans would just pay to move back to the tier. Its about the fights, not the money. Thanks for the luck.

Sorry I guess I wasn’t very clear. I was using it as an example of if the match ups changed on such a frequent basis of every week or so it might not be possible/practical to just transfer back.

Just speaking in hypothetical situations as we don’t really know what’s going to happen yet.

t8 small man was sick as hell for about 3 weeks. Anet champs blew it up. Cheers to everyone that supported and participated.

Rinz I remember fighting your all white thief. Dude hit like a MACK. Anymore there is like 1 MAYBE 2 at most guilds that run under 10 anywhere on any server. Brutal, competition isnt encouraged in gw2. Anet wants casual content lollypop land. Hope HoD finds its way up to you guys, would be a ball.

Well, since the idea of “tiers” is gone, yes. Best you can accomplish now is to choose a server with the highest statistical chance of getting pitted against like-minded roaming servers within whatever the hell point of deviation they’re using.

Which, to me, sounds like way too much math and not enough killing.

Honestly, ET and FC are tanking so hard point wise, that they have a good chance of staying together most of the time.

Your best bet will be to stack on ET and FC and on most weeks you will be in business.

T1 (top 3) and T8 (bottom 2) have the most chance of being stuck together most of the time. T1 is obviously a bad choice. Plus it’s dirt cheap to transfer to ET and FC. The 3rd server is the only wildcard.
