Greetings! I’m a denizen of Tarnished Coast server, having spent a little over a year here leveling and exploring alone for the most part. Years before that were spent as an avid roleplayer and raid dabbler in World of Warcraft, but with some good friends’ recommendations at the time I decided to give Guild Wars 2 a try. I’ve never regretted that decision one bit.
What has left me a little somber is that the people who got me started in this wonderful game have either fallen off the radar or moved on to other pastures. I still play World of Warcraft sporadically, but Guild Wars 2 is the MMO I find myself drawn to more these days. Despite the lack of friends to really make the experience easier, let alone more worthwhile, I’ve leveled several characters to 80 alone.
Aside from two spontaneous yet wonderful walk-ups while out and about in Tyria, I haven’t had many opportunities to roleplay much. Tarnished Coast became my destination because of the active roleplay community I had heard mentioned of it ( in the same vein that Balmung is one of the popular RP realms in FFXIV ) but if it still is, I must not have looked around hard enough to see! I have a general understanding of Tyria and the stories behind it, but I’m still trying to immerse myself in more lore as I develop my characters.
I guess the gist of all this is; After spending such a large chunk of my MMO experience as a “Massively Solitary Online” one, I’d be elated for the chance to play with others for a change beyond a random world-boss rush. I’ve been too afraid to set foot in any dungeons either for similar reasons, but that’s an area of Guild Wars 2 I’d love to explore sometime as well.
My only real concern beyond all this is finding a guild that’s active in the evening/late night/early hours ( I’m a bit of an EST night owl more often than not, but keep regular hours too! ) and hosts more of an older crowd.
