This is not your ordinary recruitment thread. This isn’t actually a recruitment thread. This is more of an informative pamphlet on the GoM GoMmunity for any interested parties.

What the WvW GoMmunity is NOT:

• We are not dominated by one large guild. We strive for all guilds to have a voice (no, really, we literally want you to have a voice on teamspeak!).
• We are not perfectly organized, although improving our coordination is one of our major long-term goals.
• We are not super hardcore. Although we have some hardcore players, we also have many casual/new players, and everything in between. We strive to do our best, but we also place a heavy emphasis on having fun and encouraging our fellow “Gommies.”
• We are not perfect. The things listed here are all things we work toward, but we have not achieved some great wvw utopia.
• We are not quiet. If you like a tightly-run teamspeak channel with no random outbursts of song or off-topic joking around, then this is probably not going to be your cup of tea.

What the WvW GoMmunity IS:

• We are stubborn. We do not care if we are outmanned 10 to 1 – we will take as many of the enemy down with us as we can. We may even be laughing hysterically while yelling “YOLO” or “Leeeeeeeroy!!!”
• We are mad. As in, crazy mad. We attempt to live up to our server’s great name. This may involve occassionally streaming live footage of a golem rush, doing a golem rush with one golem and multiple golem tonics, and seeing how many uplevels it takes to kill a coordinated group of well-geared 80s.
• We are fun, yet focused, and we are willing to get serious if the situation demands it (in other words, we try to have a balanced approach).
• We are NOT “work-a-holics” about WvW. We encourage breaks to avoid burn-out. We may lose a keep because of this, but we will retain more players in the long-run. To clarify, we don’t give up during tough match-ups, but we’d rather you step away for a few hours than wind up quitting the game for good.

Our long-term goals:

• We want to improve coordination between guilds. We want to boost the awareness of the server-wide teamspeak and website.
• We want to encourage more PvE-er participation, especially in conjunction with the teamspeak (WvW is statistically proven to be more fun with friends! ).
• We want to continue to expand the teamspeak and website to include more of the server’s community. (All joking aside, few players actually exclusively play ONLY WvW or PvE, so we think our community should reflect that.)
• We want to provide more opportunities for the community to learn, grow, and get to know one another.

Activites and opportunities:

• We have two weekly meetings before WvW reset – one for community leaders to discuss issues and coordinate, and one that is open to everyone in the community to nail down that week’s WvW strategy.
• We offer a weekly “Green Arrow” event where we all get on uplevels (“green arrows”) and run in a kitten -tastic zerg for xp.
• We have recently begun offering more organized opportunities for PvE during the week.

• We offer a community-funded teamspeak for the use of anyone on the GoM server. The only other requirement is agreeing to the code of conduct. (This is NOT just for WvW use!)

I actually decided to join the forums (after what, a year?) today. TeamSpeak will come when I actually have time to sit down and get on TS without disruptions. ~I’ve been getting a lot of complaints about the cupcake thing, and apparently a lot of players don’t get it.

A message to any guilds interested: Message or mail me in-game to talk about transfer costs and what we can do to assist. I’m not worried about gold and can sponsor some of the officers over if need be.

It would’ve been better if GoM was proactive rather than reactive (I mean, this post is because of our recent…uh…“troubles” in WvW, I assume?) But oh well, the reason this thread is here doesn’t matter, what we do with it is!

The community of GoM is undoubtedly amazing (Wow, so cliche), but seriously, the constant WvW’ers of GoM are definitely close knit and frequent the server’s TS. When this occurs, I’ve noticed that due to the coordination, GoM really does create an opponent to be reckoned with. The “Green Arrow” events, while I’ve only participated in one or two briefly, bring the community closer together for a day/night of entertainment and fun!

So stop! Scroll up! Copy the names of the community managers and PM them! You won’t regret it

Nah, been working on it for over a month, but didn’t set a hard deadline for input before… very probably our server needs to be more proactive vs. “procrastinative*.”

Nope, I did one of these 3 weeks ago as well.

GoM is definitely in need of more oceanic players. GoM would also greatly accommodate PvX players due to the large PvE population who frequent champion trains, world events and meta events (each meta is completed multiple times daily). The only time GoM has queues at the moment is after reset. During the week you won’t find any queues. If season two is anything like season one, GoM’s massive amount of PvE players will come out to WvW during the first few weeks. While this benefits the server greatly, we do not rely on this and, as a community, are working towards a greater WvW experience for all

For those wondering, we have a commander who calls loot bags cupcakes. He happens to be our most popular commander because we all have massive cholesterol issues due to his cupcake addiction.

We as a community consider having good commanders a privilege, not a right. If you would like to feed us cupcakes, and get a reputation for doing so, you will be treated quite well when your willing to tag up (note, willing, not forced to), regardless of your calling them cupcakes, escargot, marshmallows, kittens, etc.

If you want to run untagged with your own group, that’s where the workaholic line comes in. 99% of us understand that leading can be stressful, especially during a tough battle, and nobody has the right to tell someone else that they MUST lead. We would rather have you lead exceptionally when you are able than lead crappily all the time.

We have good “Bones” on GOM. We have a small group of hard bitten fighters who really do not give up. We just need to get enough players to get over that tipping point from “Fighting to stay alive” To “Rolling in cupcakes”.

Who We Are
- Mature WvW community on TS, Respect is held high
- Good cooperation between the guilds in our alliance, for WvW and special events
- We condemn griefing, exploits, cheats or bad sportsmanship
- We encourage teamwork, initiative, original events, newcomers training

Community
- From Hardcore to Casual gamers, we have a great time together.
- Playstyle liberty, no one is asking you to play the FoTM.
- Strong N-A primetime presence, we’re looking for more WvW adepts to organize our oceanic presence
- Experienced W3ers will gladly help you with your build, teach you the WvW ropes if need be or just discuss tactics with you.
- Experienced WvW-dedicated guilds open to recruiting

Objectives
- We strive for victory in every WvW matchup, yet we do so in a light, fun and friendly atmosphere. This is a game, a good one with that, and we enjoy it :-)
- You can make a difference on the Gate of Madness. Every WvW player or small guilds make a difference, as the N-A Bronze League is so competitive and we are holding our own right now.

It is my belief some people might like a change between the seasons, or some people might want to try Bronze Leagues with competitives matchups, now if any of this appeals to you and you have questions, we can

Assuming you do not wish to move into a zerg, and want somewhere that is competitive, your choices are really the middle of the pack servers.

So 4,5 and 6.

Of those, the only one to have placed first more than once with the fighters they already have was us. AR and FC spent most of their time in 2nd place. We took first 3 times.

Of our 3rd place matches, only 2 were real blowouts. One was even featured as one of the best fights of the season period by Anet.

If your active on teamspeak you will learn 2 things.

1: We fight hard.

2: We laugh hard.

Honestly to me those are the important things in life anyhow. I haven’t been in another situation where across pretty much all the fighting guilds theres a sense of a bigger family. Usually your family is your guild, not your server. Both are family here.

BTW, I can run faster than a centaur.

We always lose too many people to living story and other servers know that which is why they always focus us instead of the 3rd server. Plus we are usually more of a challenge. HoD usually waited for us to be online before hitting us not like some of the more recent matchups, but HoD always liked the fights we gave them even when they lost a lot against lesser numbers.

GoM is the best community and for our numbers, win or lose the fights are always awesome.

Yep, we are known for fighting. Our WvW population works together and we would love to find more people to join in the fun!

We could use more dedicated people in all timezones. Now, If you have fought us you know our primetime is NA primetime, and we could REALLY REALLY use 10-20 SEA/OCX guys. With that we would swiftly move up those Glicko ratings.

We do have players on the server in that time zone, but as far as I personally know, we do NOT have a dedicated guild here. Just moving here and being a fun group to play with will probably swell your numbers and it will certainly gain you friends.

Our Oceanic crew varies from night to night from what I’ve seen. Some nights we’re out in force (well…force for a bronze tier WvW server ;p ) and some nights we’re quiet…

That’s because the more “forceful” nights are largely made up of people who should be sleeping… next night or two are more quiet because everyone’s passed out finally. :P
