31 day sale prior to Feature blog
This is actually a very interesting point I was thinking of last night.
I said to myself:
“Man, wish I had known about the wardrobe for some of these sales! I might have spent more money on gems to pick those exclusive items up!”
I think if they had done the sale in April instead they might’ve secured a lot more revenue from it, considering the wardrobe changes and so forth. Meanwhile, everyone that got multiples will just be requesting refunds from ANet support as soon as the patch hits.
And yet isn’t it refreshing to have a company that isn’t looking to ink every penny from your wallets?
Meaning their thought process when they wake up isn’t, how can I make money off of player today?

While I agree, other indications of the sales would tell me the opposite. I still conclude poor communication rather than sneaky behavior – as poor communication between a net’s marketing and development has occurred plenty of times.
A refund of gems is not a refund of money. So if I bought a dupe set of armor during the sale – I’m not getting my money back. It’s an aggravating company to deal with. They are either incompetent or sneaky. Which is worse?
Edit to sound less trolly:
The refund policy is a great outreach by Anet, however. I just hope this comment gets brought up to some extent in a meeting and they can do better next time.

The Lions March Sale was clearly introduced to boost gem sales before the first fiscal quarter ends, which is normal practice. Unfortuntely, at the end of February, Anet was still thick into rolling out the last chapter of the LS and wasnt in a position to confirm all the features for the april 15th patch, so they couldnt postpone the monthly sale to april or announce the patch in feb.

That’s a fair point I hadn’t considered. Cheers.

I agree – good point. Yet still lacks that communication portion. Bundle the consumables for days 1-14. Then drop all the skins after the reveal.
Again, just hoping the message gets carried to the teams.

Pushing the skins back to the latter days of the months is a good point but the QQ on the forums would have been big, if no skins would have shown up until yesterday.
And as the topic doesnt include “dye” in the header, it might be safe from being closed by a mod atm and your feedback might come through…

One thing to keep it mind: It’s very possible they will do a “best of sale” at the end. In fact I’d be shocked if they did not.
When everyone was complaining about legendaries the day the wardrobe was announced, my first thought was, who cares about legendaries, think about all the long gone skins that are now useful.
Yea I wonder what are they thinking of? I am sure if the wardrobe thing was announced earlier these skins will sell better.
Like for me I will buy the kasmeer staff skin even tho I have no intention of using it now.
Because I bought a few skins I like and store them in the bank.
Costumes too.
Won’t they earn more money that way? Isn’t sales their main goal?
i hope they do this…
I think it was kind of lame to sell a lot of the skins before the announcement. I’m sure they got a lot of money from people who wanted duplicate skins. Whether or not the timing was intentional it certainly was convenient.

Haha .. and i bought a second kasmeer skin that i still haven’t used that i wouldn’t have bought if they had announced it earlier
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
And yet if they have done the sales after the announcements, people would have complained about how they conveniently added skins into the store so soon after they announced a way to duplicate them.
No matter what way they had chosen people would have complained about it.

I don’t follow you.
