So I have a problem I don’t understand. Any advice would be appreciated.

I have a level 37 Sylvari, and I recently purchased the armour skins to make him look cooler. I don’t want to use them in PVP mode, as asked to me when I choose the item to try and wear. Instead, I want it to be used in “normal” mode, but it won’t work.

Instead, for example, when I double click on the “profane shoes”, it opens up the transmutation box, and I don’t know what to do from here. I’ve tried moving my own shoes into the box, but that will not work.

What am I supposed to do? Any advice would be appreciated. Am I doing this too early? Am I supposed to have certain types of shoes only that can be transmutated? Should I wait till I’m level 80 AND THEN try to change my outfit like I am doing?

Profane Armor Skin can only use those professions who have light armor, like Elementalist, Mesmer or Necromancer.

It does not matter what your character race is, only what matters is what profession your character is. So if that Profane Armor skin says it is unusable your profession, means that your character is using some other type of armor, and your character is not Elementalist, Mesmer or Necromancer.

You didnt mention what was your character profession, only your character’s race. So I think the issue in here is that your character can not wear light armor.

So once more:
Elementalist, Mesmer and Necromancer = Light Armor
Ranger, Engineer and Thief = Medium Armor
Warrior and Guardian = Heavy Armor

Okay, so it still doesn’t work. Now, what is more interesting is that it tells me, when I look at the preview for the item, that the profane outfit is unusable by my profession. Is that an error? Or how the heck can I tell when the skins work for my profession? Is it not made for the Sylvari characters???

Heavy; medium and light. They can’t be mixed.

Okay sweet guys- I figured it out. I didn’t realize when I purchased the armour that it was for light armour characters only. I have a character- he’s a ranger- that can’t use the light armour, and that’s where my issue lies. I’m still very much a rookie in this guild wars community.

Now I only have to figure out what to do with this expensive, and useless, skin.

Ehm my answer seams to the the correct one but who cares.

You could make a new character who wares light armor, a different race then Sylvari and you will experiment a different storyline up to a point. You might even like this new one better then the ranger

Or you can send a ticket to gw2 support and explain the situation and ask for the gems back.

You should make the largest Male Norn Mesmer possible. Nothing like big giant clones filling up the screen
