Q:
Character Race Change.
Yea I thought asura warrior would be awesome. But now I’m lvl 80 and starting to farm for a nice exo set and I see all these other big models with awesome looking gear, then I looked at my mystic claymore and it looks like a freaking toothpick on my back, you can hardly see the lightning effect in the blade
I don’t this race change will ever be an option, not because ANet doesn’t want to do it, but because your personal story is tied to your race – if you could change your race, you’d have to be able to just reset your story completely or something.

Pretty much this, also there is the issue of cultural armour, maybe it could implemented by resetting your level to 1 (so you would have to do the story again) and all your items (taking about the soulbound ones) could still be used on this character.
Not really. They could allow you to change races. Reset your story, and make it so you don’t get story rewards. And if you have cultural armor, they can just change it to the cultural armor of the race you changed to
I would recommend that in the meantime you roll a thief and start leveling it to 80 so by the time it gets obvious that they are not going to add race change then you already have your thief ready.

its seems like Im forced to that now sigh
I cant see the problem with a level 80 race change option. I doubt there are harder, or more quests for different races. Im sure its the same amount of work for either, so there is no point in redoing your story. You are the only person effected by the change, no one else, and the effect is simply you miss out on story line you probably dont give two kitten about. As far as culteral armor goes, just give them the pieces for the new race, that they purchased for there old. Again, same prices, same amount of gear.
I cant think of a single issue if they decide to allow this, they could even make some more coin from it potentially, buy offering a race change stone for level 80s on the BLT.co for 2000 gems or something.
Seems like a win win situation for everyone, players, and Anet if it was implemented in this manor.
Im in the same boat as a Norn Thief… was so excited to get started that I didn’t really think the decision through. Now at level 80 cant really see myself grind out another thief, as it is my favourite profession.
It has been asked quite a few times in the suggestion sub-forum. There seems to be a handful of people that oppose the idea, but just as many wanting.

Hi everyone.
Thanks for asking. To change the race in the Gem store will not be an option in Guild Wars 2.
Now we will proceed to lock this thread.”
I had no idea, someone else showed me the topic dated the 28th of September. I think we should get a petition going…
I have an eighty Charr thief that i dislike. I know, i should have realized sooner, yet i kept telling myself, ‘i have put a bit of time into this character so i’ll continue on’. Saying to me it’s not that much time, well some of us don’t play the game constantly.
I don’t understand why this wouldn’t be possible. if you have a level 80 character and already finished the personal story it shouldn’t matter. I have an 80 asura, i thought would be cool as a engineer but looks incredibly stupid because the gear is small and the weapons look like kid toys. i wish i could change it, hope arena net can get by it.
