Glob price increase, why?
At the start of Queen’s Jubillee it was at 18s. Then after awhile it inflated to 22s and stayed there for a bit due to gold inflation.
Then came Tuesday’s notes that revealed lvl 500 crafting would come out. This led to a price increase from speculators which led to an even higher price.

Oh my glob you guys.
Remember those meta-events with the guaranteed rares? There used to be 25-100 people or more at each one, the last several I’ve gone to have had people in the single digits, sometimes I show up five minutes into an event and there’s absolutely no one there.
The invasions still produce rares but not quite as many as the meta-events. Demand increases, supply decreases, and prices go up.
I am looking at spidy and it seems its at 28s. Am I that old where I do not consider that high? It used to be 35 back in the day and I’m still waiting for the time when it might hit enough to sell my glob listed for 42 silver.

I don’t think it’ll ever reach that high, at least sustain itself at that price. It could reach that high temporarily – probably within the hour of the patch when people realize glob may be needed in large quantities.
If globs ever reach that high, we will simply see more people at metaevents to push the price down. People will also craft their own rares (which would push the price of t5 up eventually) to salvage.

well as I understood it from their “looking ahead for 2013” post some months back, the new materials you need to skill up to 500 will be dropping from champion bags and stuff, and the new precursor materials (for the new legendaries) will be on a 1 per day crafting/gathering cooldown, so I can’t see where globs pay a part in either of this, but I guess we will know soon.
I wonder if the Ecto price hike will affect Crystalline Dust as well. Now that Ectos are more expensive, people are probably less willing to salvage them. And if CD is required for the the new crafting, I would expect its price to really jump.
Ecto reached 40+ silver during the weeks after they mass banned the farmer bots. It was at a low of like 12 silver during the botting peak.
With all the cores dropping, maybe people needed globs to get dust to fuse them to lodestones?
I wonder what your basis for comparison is…”

I was talking to a guildy about this yesterday.
Cores are a very reasonable investment to speculate in. Along with cores comes the demand for dust, but since they are reliably and largely obtained by ectos, and since ectos have a wide variety of uses, investing in ectos would be a better choice than dust.
I’m just unsure of what the price of ectos will stabilize at. I can see it touching 40s but I don’t think it’ll stay there. Maybe 32S? I don’t know. But I’m not holding ectos for investments at the moment, only personal use.

A lot of prices dropped across the board, except for ectoplasm. This means ecto rose naturally to make sure legendaries still have the exact same price as before. Economics 101.
Delayed content is eventually good. Rushed content is eternally bad. ~ Shigeru Miyamoto
The farming meta changing fro world bosses to Champs/LS is the biggest reason in my opinion.
I also see alot of people using their surplus of skillpoints from the champ drops to craft expensive mf weapons like the Anomaly, Infinite Light and so on. Those recipes usually require 250 ectos as well.

The Level cap increase plan in Crafting was already well established before Tuesday

ETA was “sometime this year,” which means no big deal; as of last Tuesday it’s “coming next week.” Cue panic.

So people will be using ecto even more.

I seriously don’t understand why they’ve made people need even more of these.. and t6 mats to boot. Especially the later. Aren’t they already expensive enough?
Gonna take me waaaaaaaaaay longer to get that next legendary. And I’m just sooo looking forward to even more money grinding!!1 [/sarcasm]
Keep in mind the new system also means after a while pretty much every player with a decent amount of hours played will be sitting on a permanent account wide 300% magic find. It remains to be seen how this will affect prices in the long run.

This is why. Ectos are part of a new base mat. Ectos are becoming the “2nt currency” that ArenaNet wanted all along.

So people will be using ecto even more.
And BOOM goes the dynamite!
Okay lets not ever say that ever again. (adjusts bow tie)
Ectos from 28s and change to 36-39s range. T6 Dust from 17.5s to 25-26s.

Can I archive these 2 quotes together?
Or do you think that would be a petty thing to glom onto?
