My opinion: Gold is absolutely useless
gems, diffrent gear sets, commander
and don’t say you’re not whining when you quite clearly are
Okay, I’m whining. Got your share of coolness now Syn?
for pve – you probably want different sets of gear depending on what role you want to play. yes there is a limit because eventually you’ll have every class and every piece of gear you’d want for that class, but if you play to that point you’ve ‘beaten the game’
for pvp – if you got so much gold please do transfer to my server and spend it on tower/keep/castle upgrades. that’d be nice
You clearly haven’t found the in-game brothel have you? Wink, wink; nudge, nudge.
Ferment, I don’t think the majority of players is interested in playing all classes and getting many different gear sets. Personally, I’m not going to play anything at all other than my main.
But I guess you are right regarding WvW… upgrades or commander book can really make the difference between victory or defeat for a server.
Regarding my amount of gold… I’m broke, after buying all these exotics. But the fact is that I managed to buy them without doing anything other than selling crafting mats and getting quest rewards. Currently prices for exotics on TP are so low in comparison to the 60+ runs you need to do to get dungeon gear or 300k+ karma.
The thing is, that I don’t see a reason for me to bother with getting more gold.
For pve I simply have nothing else to do with it.
Well can I have your gold then? (edit, I see you spent it all, ahh well…) I’m broke and need it all for siege gear and repairs. WvW seems to me to be the biggest obgoing gold sink. I don’t even have any exotics yet as I’ve been doing mostly PvP, not PvE.
So it seems you make money in PvE and spend it in PvP. If you don’t want to do both, it’s a bit of a dilema.
Hi idus, I haven’t done much WvW, but is it really a gold sink? I thought you could level up in WvW just as you level up in regular PvE with quest rewards and gear drops.
What I’m reading from OP here is this, “Once you’ve bought everything you can buy, getting more money is pointless.” Well, yea.
WvWvW is a huge gold sink, as are dungeons if you don’t have an organized group to run them.
So is buying new sets of armor. If you want to switch to a different build that uses different stats that’s another 30g.
I had the same problem, sitting on a fairly nice pot of gold.
So, I decided to craft with the hope I could turn gold into more gold. After this week, it’s clear that was a stupid idea. Prices are continually below cost and it’s no fun to have expensive merchandise tied up on the TP for days at a time.
Well when I said WvW is a gold sink, that’s assumi you actually want to try and compete with siege equipment. You’re not forced to spend anything in WvW, and if you can avoid dying, repair costs will be minimal. But if you want to participate to the full, you could spend every bit of gold you have.
If gold is so pointless, give it to me. I’ll find a use for it.
Once a person acquires a full exotic armor+trinkets+weapons set, there is nothing [I can think of to do with my gold].
I edited your first sentence to be more accurate.
Since this is really all that you are asking for, I’ll tell you:
Go into WvWvW. Purchase 10 siege golems for your team, get in them, walk them into the highest visible point where your enemy can see them without hitting them [unless they shell out for some trebuchets] and then park them there.
Type things like “Your mother was a newt and your father smelt of elderberries!” and “I shall taunt you a second time!”
See, rich people who are bored do really crazy kitten and since you are obviously rich you might as well let the wealth get to your better sense of judgment and have fun with it.
Hoard it until player housing is created. Create an alt called Scrooge McDuck, make your house look like a bank vault and then swim in your virtual currency. Invite your three nephews [or friends] over to play on pogo sticks.
Try to corner the rare materials market. Succeed, double your fortune and then laugh as the prices reach equilibrium. Rinse, recyle, repeat until ANet bans you. You won’t care, though – you were done with the game way before this point anyway.
Create an easter egg hunt. People have to find certain materials and then mail them to you as proof they have them. Have prizes for places 1-10. You keep the materials, you give them gold. Smile as you sell all of the goods for profit on the TP despite having paid out 75g to all of the “winners”.
Run an in-game lottery.
Liquidate all of your assets, and bet all of your gold on who wins the current WvWvW. You have to place your bet within 1 minute of knowing the other 2 participants in your server’s match. If you win, you triple your money. If you lose you lose everything.
Every day, at the same time, go to Lion’s Arch, ask insane trivia questions and give gold for right answers.
Am I getting through to you at all?
After you get all the gear you need, all there is to do with gold is spend it in WvW, have fun and acquire dyes, minipets and other vanity items. It’s a good system.
Yeah I find myself in a similar position to you OP. Of course there’s always things like commander and legendaries but frankly those things are so expensive and I simply don’t have the time or motivation to grind for them. I guess I’ll just stock up on all the various dyes and buy golems for WvW.
>WvWvW is a huge gold sink, as are dungeons if you don’t have an organized group to run them.
Sorry but got to disagree with this. I’ve done over 60 dungeon runs all with random people and I have not failed a single one (and that’s not just CoF-2 runs either, although a lot of it was). You get something like 26s or whatever it is per run, and then you get all that other loot too. Even if you wipe a dozen or so times you’ll still come out in profit, but chances are you won’t wipe at all given that they’re not at all challenging once the mechanics are known.
i dont get it, you say once u acquire all the gear you need there’s no point in gold. Well no kitten. What did u expect to spend you’re money on after you already have all that you need?
I sold all my crafting materials + nearly 100% the world, and I have nowhere near that amount of gold. Is there something I’m missing?
So your problem is that you have a lot of gold and nothing to spend it on…….
And a full set of exotics costs only 40 to 50 gold……
This is not a serious post.
lose a pip,win 2 pips,lose a pip,lose a pip…………..-
-Go go Espartz.-
level all your crafting professions to 400
Just like GW1 there is a huge inflation in vanity items.
Haha I like that idea of using extra gold to fill a personal “gold pool” that your character can swim in.
Wow, the OP is a genius.
You do realize that the same happens with every game , right?
Once you bought everything you need , there’s nothing to do with your gold. until an expansion comes along, just saying.
PS Btw if you don´t need your gold anymore send it mo me please, I can think of a few ways of using it.
Dish, if I had the money, I would do more than half of those things.
Your opening post is full of contradictions. On one hand you say there isn’t anything to spend your gold on but later, you acknowledge that there are lots of other things you could buy but have no interest in. Who’s problem is that then?
The problem is that the OP is complaining BEFORE he has even acquired everything.
You ca always buy gems:) and get lion keys, buff, pet etc
You can say that money is useless in real life after you acquire enough to live out your life. People who reach that point probably put some aside for their kids. So, put some aside for your alts.
Give me your gold then cry baby.
The gold is here for the sole purpose of flipping items to acquire MORE GOLD &_&
So I kindly disagree with the op.
If that’s not a reason enough, when you acquire a real fortune you can proceed to gain ABSOLUTE POWER over lives and well being of other players, both hostile and friendly.
or … perhaps …
gold is irrelevant and we should all go and pick flowers on the fields of eternal happiness
OP: Please send me your useless gold.
If anyone else believes that their gold is useless I will happily assist them with their problem and give it value by giving a sincere thank you for every gold amount received.
