Maybe I'm overthinking this...
what happens to the TP when everybody has all they need for their characters?
Define ‘need’
Need as in BIS items? Most players already have BIS items. After you have BIS, you will most likely strive to get skins as well as separate gear combinations. I run a guardian and after I got my initial all-around build set, I went for a pure MF set, pure vit set and a healing/tough set.
But moving forward, skins will be a huge part of the game since that’s the whole premise of gear in GW2.
Not to mention you can get gear up all your alts.

…but since there will essentially not be craftable higher tier gear introduced to the game, what happens to the TP when everybody has all they need for their characters?
Would you be able to provide a source for that? I must have missed that announcment. Thanks.

how is this overthinking? you did not make a statement.
Always in motion, the TP is.
I meant there’s always new people coming, others leaving etc.
“Whose Charr is this?”- “Ted’s.”
“Who’s Ted?”- “Ted’s dead, baby. Ted’s dead.”

You must’ve missed the introduction of ascended gear and the reception to it.

You have to make a statement to overthink something?
Huh.

Right, but so far the current trend for skins is via tokens or the gem store, essentially leaving the TP out of the loop.
Currently my guardian has 4 sets of armor. I haven’t bought anything on the TP for it for a good 2 months.
I can see alts, but even that is eventually finite.

Hmm, don’t see anywhere that Anet said crafting won’t go there eventually.
But to get back on topic, as others have stated. Skins will be the lifeblood of the TP.

Nope.. saw that.
Nope.. saw that.Missed the announcement that there would never be new crafting recipies.
Nope.. saw that.Missed the announcement that there would never be new crafting recipies. So, you’re saying that there’s no potential for new recipes, like the dungeon ones, that to ever be introduced?

It’s called “a discussion.”
Sorry I brought it up.
nvm

yes, all he did was ask a question which is not overthinking but thinking . If he said I believe xy and z will happen as a result of T, or maybe M will happen because of T, what do you all think? That would be overthinking something. But here he only has one thought, a question of which he doesn’t know the answer to, so no extra thought. . .

“so far”
I’m confident that our resident economist keeps track of these things and has contingency plans for anything that needs to be adjusting.
For example, if he sees inflation is going up, I’m sure he has plans for how to handle that, including suggestions to include more armors/skins in game that can be purchased from a vendor, similar to cultural armor.
On another note that I ignored – there will always be a demand for craftable items due to the mystic forge and chasing precursors.

LOL…that was me who asked the question
No, I meant maybe I was overthinking it in the matter that everything isn’t quite as finite as it seems at the moment.
Plus – holiday recipes. They not only need the special time limited ingredients but also the regular stuff. Let’s take Halloween, for a lot of people who only started in December it will be the first time this year, other’s weren’t ready last time and/or the potential of new recipes.
Don’t underestimate the power of fluff. Good looking fluff

Key to that statement is “good looking.”
