The animation isn’t as big but go very nice together as a pair. Tempest DD Ele with Wind catcher is looking pretty sweet I have to admit.

They have a ‘white wind blowing off the weapon’ animation and they have short ribbons that move in the breeze.

They fit the wind back piece very nicely imo. My ele has that back piece and the scepter and dagger I got fit that theme.

So far the pattern is one ticket, typically a month but maybe longer, and they go up to 5 tickets when the next set is released.

Only Etenity looks legendary imho. All others might as well be exotics or ascended skins.

I don’t really like these but I think its because I don’t have a character that would suit them. I’m not inclined to roll a new character to suit them either, which is something I’ve done for a couple of other weapon skins. Maybe they’ll grow on me.

Then you’re playing the wrong game…

Many of the non-BL weapons have good, clean designs. Take the hero weapons from WvW, for example, if you want some nice looking weapons without any effects. Guild commendation weapons have the chrome-like effect as well, if that’s more your forte.

Try the karma weapons in Divinities Reach. The NPC venders are by the Palace waypoint. The T3 Seraph Outfitter sells weapons with a silvery appearance for 63k karma each. They do have a silver “fan” motif though, if you are looking for unadorned weapons. (Think of the shield that Logan Thackeray carries)

You might also want to look at the cultural weapon sellers in Ebonhawke. Those weapons are very nice also. They are black and gold and if you just want the skin you can get the cheaper karma ones.

They’re not my style (I prefer my weapons to look like actual weapons), but I’m glad that Wind fans finally have a weapon set they can use, as opposed to the usual fire/ice ones.

We have a lot of simple weapons already,but I know what you mean,you want more “detailed” but not “full of particle effects” weapons,but I prefer them to stay this way.
With particle effects or at least some effect like the ribbons or the glow effect on Chaos weapons

They’re very nice indeed, will absolutely get two of them. I do agree that some are a bit too artistic, but overall this set is a great addition.

Eh at some of the designs, but very nice wind effects. Would have been even more awesome if there were some sound effects. Checked out the hammer.

Absolutely LOVE these, I’m so mad I wasted a ticket on a chaos skin not long ago….
Got the dagger, but really want to get more of them.

The big draw here is that a lot of them don’t actually look like the bulky sort of weapon they are, in particular the warhorn, shield, axe, mace and torch.
We have lots of “realistic” looking skins for those, but a lot of them can look really awkward if you’re a small human not going for the rough warrior look xD
These suit a lot of my characters for whom I had trouble finding a skin that looks proportionate or even just not totally out of place.

I also really love the wind effects. Not a huge fan of fire effects, but other elements? yes please! This is easily my favourite set so far big thumbs up!

It fits my ele with her wind catcher backpack. It makes a theme of elemental weapons and effects for her. My Mesmer who is white and blue with Zodiac armor with Shattered wings and a white and blue Zephyite Wind helm, those weapons fit her theme too and I would love to get the greatsword for her. However I have the Vision of the Mists already on her and I don’t want to change that after going through the trouble and cost of making it. (Sigh).

Generally speaking I’m not typically into this type of weapon design, all scrolls and filigree.; however, I do find that I like the look of some of these. I don’ think I currently have anyone that these would “fit” on, theme wise, but I might just change that. My mesmer might make for a good ‘elegant’ character. (Good thing I have 2, because I plan on having all of the phantasmal weapons on one of them!)

I agree that I’d LOVE to see some more elegant but realistic weaponry. That said, these ones are beautiful, unfortunately I don’t see them really fitting any of my character concepts or at least not beating out the weapons I already have fitting the ones that they could go with. Going to have to test some things out though, these really are beautiful, just my general preference is the same, I want things to look reasonable, doesn’t mean they have to be bland like much of what we have for the current set of reasonable weaponry.

I finished the collection, cant wait for the next set.

how exactly are those weapons girly?

I only bought the staff skin (and even then I had to sell one of my precious skins in my bank I had been keeping for a long time, for investment purposes) because I don’t want to get myself too carried away being as there’s nothing that really matches all these black lion weapons. There’s no black lion armor skins, and that’s what kind of ticks me off.

I guess the wind catcher skin goes nice with these Tempest skins, but that’s about it. And I would buy more skins, but Anet keeps coming out with more and more of them with no new ways of getting the money to afford them in the first place!

What happened to the living stories where you all zerg together and get a whole bunch of loot? Sure it wasn’t very ‘skilful’ by spamming #1 a lot on your skillbar while moving, but at least it was fun being rewarded.

Enough money so that you can afford SOME of the umpteen hundreds of skins that seem to keep pouring out of the gemstore these days. But nowadays the average joe blog can only buy 1 of these new skins because there’s no new content to work at and be rewarded for so you can buy more.

We need more opportunities to make money so we can buy more skins. I mean, what if you need that tempest scepter, focus, staff and greatsword skin for your Mesmer? Say goodbye to 320 gold – that’s IF you have enough money for all 4 skins (based on the assumption that the average ‘new’ black lion weapon is 80g).

It’s getting ridiculous and we need more money making opportunities if you want us players to buy more skins (cause unlike the few rich players in GW2 that seem to have every legendary and item in the game, not everyone can afford a full set of new black lion weapon skins, let alone 4 of them that you just HAVE to get).

tl;dr

1) It’s all very nice but please give us armor to match all the black lion weapon skins

AND

2) Give us more opportunities/methods to make enough money to buy these skins, rather than just spewing out hundreds of gemstore items and somehow expecting us to pull money out of thin air to buy them all.

We’ve had far too many money SINKS. We now need some money GAINS.

Yep the WvW weapons are the best looking ones imo. The Tempest are ok, though the GS kinda reminds me of the ambrite one. I had 2 tickets so got one for me and the other I sold.

Heh, at the risk of perpetuating stereotypes, I’m afraid I and my girlfriend fit this exact pattern as well. I favour dark, grimmer weapons and armor, while my girlfriend wants that Tempest staff to replace her existing one on her Ele.

Devastatingly disappointing.
I’m a huge fan of wind-themed “stuff”, and there’s a distinct lack thereof in GW2. I was very excited when I saw “tempest weapons”, but seeing them turned that around quickly.

These skins are of the usual high quality, very well made. They are also quite “inspired” in an artistic sense, so I have no criticism for them on that ground either.
What’s disappointing is that they aren’t weapons. They’re ornaments, fancy curtain poles, art gallery pieces, and wall designs. But weapons, they are not.
This has nothing to do with “realism” as I had no expectation that an element-themed weapon would be “realistic” in the first place. It’s just that, looking at them without being told “that’s an axe”, I have trouble even identifying what I see as a weapon.

I realize wind can be a difficult theme to work with due to being invisible and formless, and I applaud the “wind activates when you take out the weapon” element of the design. I’m also impressed they didn’t simply fall to the “oh wind… guess we’ll put feathers everywhere” crutch. It’s just very difficult to identify these shapes as “weapons” (leaving aside the magic weapons, since those are generally ornamental looking by nature), which I find ultimately makes them unusable and, painful as it is to say, garbage.

Complete opposite here…I want Kraitkin to be my staff and love dark, grimmer type things and my husband made dreamer to kill things with the power of friendship. :P

Similar situation here. I told my husband I would make him any legendary he wanted (before I even had one) and he picked the Dreamer – just finds it funny killing things with rainbows and unicorns! OTOH, I would give anything for the chainsaw greatsword – love that.
