And why would we leave cotton out? I say we follow the pattern, if the price goes up due to this, that is the cost of doing business.

If Ascended weapons are anything to go by, Cotton will almost certainly be used. However, ANet will probably modify the amount needed to be less than what’s required for Silk/Wool/Linen.

Ascended leather is already in the game through huntsman. It requires 20T2 10T3 20T4 50T5. Cloth will be the same. So 20 Wool, 10 Cotton 20 Linen 50 Silk (bolts).

It’s still pretty cheap right now. Go get it before they do a livestream and it spikes like crazy… then spikes again once the armor is released. If it’s too expensive for you right now, then just don’t make ascended armor. It’s not needed for the vast majority of the game. PvE is scaled for rares and PvP is free for gear. WvW if you’re in a large group… the stat difference won’t make a ton of difference when you get rolled over by a group with 50 more people. WvW small group/solo/GvG… yea ok. Get any stat advantage you can since that’s more competitive gameplay with PvE gear involved.

IMO it’ll be good for the game as a whole. These lower mats had very little value despite some of them being hard to obtain.

Lol. It’s still way too cheap as is right now anyways. Compare the time it takes to go do a dungeon and get 1g+ other loot vs the time it would take to farm up that value in cotton. I don’t foresee it jumping up to the peak immediately the armor is released either. Everyone is still on the goss train now as well. People still have time to get in on it.

Pretty sure you can get a good amount of cotton running cm. But it will rise a lot nonetheless… not convinced it will be better percent wise than wool, but it will be among the best. Keep in mind ascended require twice as much wool as cotton, and they currently have around the same supply. Only thing preventing wool from going nuclear is jute upgrade really, but you need like 5-10 jute for one wool and jute will probably rise a lot too (not like silk which has enormous evergrowing supply).

From what I’ve seen of the other two (wool and linen) is that salvage items favor these greatly over giving you cotton. As you said wool is also easily obtained from upgrading jute. People won’t be upgrading wool to cotton. Idk about CM… it’s been a long time since I’ve ran it.

Even with the 2x need for wool an linen I would speculate that getting 10 cotton bolts rather than 20 of the others would still be more difficult. I could obviously be wrong, but it’ll go up regardless so no big deal to me where I make more gold.

The ingredients for “bolt of damask” were already known since 6 September. The ingredients have been on the wiki page for “bolt of damask” since that day.

It’s not a secret at all that cotton would be used. This thread appears to have a different function, instead.

On that note, I should say “Please don’t buy Hardened leather sections”, given that I will need them to level up from 400-425. Instead, you should all use gossamer, as I heard that this method will be very cost-efficient. Alternatively, you may want to craft exotics to level up. Don’t believe people saying that – as a result of mass exotic armor crafting – exotic armor will either sell for very little, or not at all. It will sell really well. Trust me.
Alternatively, I really hope Anet won’t use hardened leather sections at all in ascended crafting, given that it would be very illogical that you should need this material for that purpose.

why not use cotton? it give more gold to new player so they wont be left out of inflation. it also make playing at low lvl zone more productive and fun.
i recommend to use more low lvl mats on high lvl craft.

That is probably because most people are not playing mid level characters. Once they have hit level 80, they usually get higher level stuff even in low level areas, so most of the stuff they salvage are either tier 5 or tier 6 crafting materials on their level 80s. This makes mid level leather or cloth more valuable because they can’t be gathered or mined.

For me, I have just too many of these as I am leveling my alts. My storage is overflowing with them.

Because once they add some code that has not even been implemented live yet, it cannot be changed or the world explodes.

The pattern for everything else is 20T2 10T3 20T4… so since cotton is T3 you would need 10. 10<20.
