What if the items my buddy wants are bind on aquire? Can’t exactly buy those for him. And what if he’s not in my guild? Or we’re in the field and he’s outa money and there’s no bank around and he just ran outa mining picks? Don’t be so rude when you post.

So by your logic if I played every day, nver died or bought gear or bank slots or anything, by now I would have about 300 gold assuming i started at level 80 and didn’t have to work my way up.

There are players that are much much richer than that. And they didn’t live for the last month glued to their chair ignoring their life and pooping in a bag next to their computer either.

3 gold an hour is more what they are making, and I’ve had people claim to me they do it.

The money making is in the TP and it accelerates the more money you have to invest.

It took me a while but I have figured out a few places to make money in the TP, not a lot but I know once I build up enough savings my 10% profit on a 1G investment will go to 10% profit on 10G investment and so on. (compounding). Also, although it is safer to sit there watching, most of the time you can place the trades and come back later.

Oh sure. but very very slowly still leaves you out of the market. Inflation happens in these games. Money makes money better than anything else and the more there is the more it makes. The bigger the piles the greater the cost to have a profitable concern, and the less profitable th smaller concerns become. this is why there are so many people sleeping in gutters in third world countries. The poorest nations in the world all have plenty of rich people. The difference between a first world and a third world country is mostly to what degree they allow the rich to victimize the poor.

I recall a story from friend of mine doing relief work during an African famine, where one of these folks was exercising his string of 50 polo ponies near a red cross refugee encampment.

At the time there were ads all over american airwaves begging for food aid. I wonder how much american grain wound up in those horses.

No, by my logic far more than 5% of players have had at least 3g on them at some point. That’s all I was contending, since you asserted that the measly sum of 3 gold was somehow unobtainable for an average or casual player. Since if you’re paying attention this is the mailing gold thread, not your whining about alleged pump-and-dump thread, and the point was to address your claim that capping coin mailings at something absurd like 20s would be reasonable.

Sure, some people have 300g or far more, but you asked for solutions that don’t involve the TP, and then proceeded to mention the one you yourself use.

You really need to read what you’re responding to or pay closer attention to the words you yourself say. The commander book costs 100g. As far as I know, ANet hasn’t said anything about plans to raise that price due to inflation.

Therefore, bringing up inflation as if it’s relevant here just makes you look like a crazy person.

Sure penalize legit players by putting in stupid restrictions. Not gonna happen or there will be mass QQ and players quitting.

How do you seperate legit from gold sellers? You are saying that anyone who mails lots of G is a gold seller?

I have been on MMOs where there are players so rich IRL that they spent over $15,000US to get in game gold legitimately so that they could get the best stuff.

That would be rather foolish of them.

Because normally I have a lot of gold, and my friends/bf/family tell me “Can I borrow 2gold to get this awesome dye? I just spent all I had =/”

I’d like to be able to give them gold.

in GW(1), anet used to ban/suspend people suspected of involving in RMT. they detect those people by flagging their account when there is huge transaction on mail or trade panel…. not sure whether this “flagging” of transaction is coded in GW2….

2. Using in-game mail to avoid the 15% fee is just exploiting. If Anet wanted you doing this they would have added a person to person trade feature. Stop exploiting and scamming people and you don’t need to trade by mail.

Really? Mail trading = exploiting? Pretty sure if Anet felt that way they wouldn’t have allowed people to trade items in the first place. I give money and items to friends regularly via mail, this idea is asinine and doesn’t accomplish much other than punishing legitimate players. Many people are already upset that this game did not come with a trading feature; removing the ability to mail money would just make people even more upset.
