Rune of Divinity Prices out of Control
Well, sad to say this, since I want those runes too, but it comes down to supply and demand. Those runes are kitten on a numer of different classes wich in turn mean the supply can never really meet the demand.
Thus, the price go up.
What’s actually funny is that you see : prices go all the way up, please do something. On the other hand you see : OMG, we can’t earn money now that Arah gives half of what it used to give.
Where’s the sweet spot?
It’s a simple supply/demand matter involving players, how much gold they have to spend and how much resources they have to offer.
Well they are considered by many as the best possible rune to get. So lots of people want them and are ready to pay a lot to get them. I’m glad I bought mine early when they were at 2g each !
Many people also don’t think much about what they buy and consider the most expensive thing as being the best. Therefor even more people will start buying it thinking it is the ultimate rune, and prices keep going up.
I prefer to get some special abilities from runes, stats are just stats.
Luna Solares – Mesmer
They aren’t that great for stats either.
There already is something in-game that helps balance the value of under-valued items vs. over-valued items of the same type…
The Mystic Forge.
(And like previously stated, they aren’t the best rune by any means.)
Uhm, they aren’t good anyway. Ogre or Scholar are just as good if not much better. For a heavy might-class (like warrior), strength are also very good (if not better).
As others have said they aren’t even that good. IMO you’re better off using orbs.

The reason divinity runes is good is that they give lots of overall stats in all stats. That means you can change your character build any way you like at any time without worry that the runes you have on your armor would not fit.
if you still want divinity runes I suggest you find a cheaper alternative until the prices goes down to something you feel is the right price for you to pay.
Do dungeons and buy major runes, throw them into mystic forge. This is pure gamble, but it’s also for free. A guildie got Divinity rune from MF, sold for around 4,5-5G (it was kinda long time ago)
As others have said they aren’t even that good. IMO you’re better off using orbs.
Not so good you say? Divinity gives you significantly more stats than any other set in the game. It is pure math. The combination of stats+special effects from the other sets are no match for the high raed stat + versatility that this set gives to any build.
I started playing a long time after the release date so now that I have full lvl 80 exotic gear I feel like I need to farm 50gold to get a set and stay even with other 80 wvw players. If these are not so good why are they sooo overpriced? ANET should increase drop rate or flood the market a little bit to get prices down.
Yes, they give you the most stats, but classes scale best with only 3 out of the 4 major stats and builds scale best with only 3-5 total stats.
Price does not equate to greatness.
Because people think they are the best runes and the fact they can only be gained from random drops or the mystic forge.
In sPvP gear with divinity stats is freely available and guess how many people use them – not very many.
If you just want more flat damage, simple ruby orbs outperform divinity runes. Condition damage builds have plenty of superior alternatives and don’t even get me started on runes centered around survivability.
Overall only few builds can truly profit from divinity runes and I believe anet made a mistake when they named these runes as they are anything but divine.
I don’t even think it is very useful.
Sure it gives a lot of stats point overall, but 60 pt for every stats seems like a gimmick for me.

+60 to every stat is hardly game changing, you’re better off sticking to specific stats than only being average in a load of them. Ruby orbs for example will give you far better damage output in comparison.

I thought the point of using div runes was for the +crit dmg. o.o
Want to know why.. I have done thousands of combos in the mystic forge. Divinity runes do not come in level 80 armor. Primarily they come in level 78 armor. So you have to do cominations of armor that result in a sub level 80 result to get divinity runes. Thats why they are so expensive no ones going to throw in low 70’s at the current price when echo’s are so expensive. Thus divinity is out of control
They need to make them a bit easier to recieve.

That would be foolish when far cheaper alternatives give you more.

This one rune set has gone up so significantly in price in comparison to all the others that it is out of control. I don’t mind paying a decent amount of money to get it but the prices are skyrocketing for this at an insane rate. Please do something about this over 8G a piece is not reasonable. The next highest rune is under 4G.
Anything above 1g per rune or sigil is entirely too much imo.
Personally I’d say keep the runes and sigils at a certain cap.
The thing about the whole trait specs right now is this. Most of the classes have been pigeonholed into a single viable means of doing damage both in pve and pvp. So now everyone is after the biggest badest burst dps specs gear so now all of those items are in higher demand and the market is being controlled by a very small percentage of the populous so the prices are going to skyrocket.
It’s happening with berserker gear as well. It’s ridiculous.

It got nerfed/bugfixed. (Was supposed to be nerfed in beta already but only tooltip was changed at the time.)
They will continue to be out of control as long as people are willing to pay those prices.
BUT you don’t have to. You can put an ‘offer’ in at what ever price you’re willing to pay and wait to see if it gets filled.
failure is still a monumental success, assuming
losses remain within acceptable parameters.

Being controlled? Any hard facts to back that claim up or are you just rambling right now?
The only control in the market is that you can’t sell things below their established value and what people are willing to buy and sell for (also influenced by the drop rate of the item and/or it’s precursors).
There is absolutely no control beyond that.

Great if you want to be a “jack of all trades”, but i belive in Min-Maxing to the MAX. Every piece of my gear is glittering with ruby orbs, which allow me to do phenomenal damage at a very reasonable price. The other orbs shouldn’t be disregarded either. If you really want to excel at something, I say find the orb that fits your build best and go to town.
Yeah, I saw that coming… Good thing I bought my six-pack of those puppies back in the cheap days (3.2 G each).
And there’s your free market, less runes? Up goes the price. I don’t know, I find making gold this days easier that before, farming gives some good money and WvW too.
im gonna go lvl my crafting and purposely undercut these ppl by like 1g constantly till the prices drop! wait and see

It looks like runes of divinity are on a down turn but the lowest they’ve been in a month is 4 gold and change I wouldn’t expect them to go beyond that.

Not much of a real problem. Orbs cost a fraction as much and are 95% as good.
