Underbid by a copper
It doesn’t work like that, you always buy the lowest sell offer. I tried unchecking it and selecting the one above it and both were checked. So attempting to do that would mean buying both Dreamers.
It’s part of the TP game, and it’s not real money. Get over it already.
Aw that’s sad that you can’t choose which to buy. And if you noticed i laughed about it. Just think it would’ve been funny if you could. Take a chill pill dude. =oP
Just wait. Legendaries are raising in price, so yours will eventually sell.
I’m the guy you outbid by 300g.
Patience little grasshopper, your time will come (and so will mine)
lol, sorry about that. Well at least it was out bid by a larger margin? But yea yours will sell too saw a couple in that price range just before Christmas sell. I just thought ugh a penny. And it just sold a bit a go too. lol :o)
Also I did find it kinda interesting that legendary prices never really dropped back down sometime after ascended weps came out. I understand that the price in the beginning would jump up just sorta thought that they’d drop back down like most things. Musta been a decent amount of inflation during that time period.

They’re not dropping down and only rising cause Karma is lacking. 1 mil karma is not easy to come by these days.
Yea that’s true. I do snowball mayhem for extra karma atm. 600 for losing 1k for winning and they go by pretty fast.
That’s how it works. Someone is willing to sell for one less gold than you. If you don’t want that, you need to choose a price that’s low enough no one wants to undercut you.
lol, sorry about that. Well at least it was out bid by a larger margin?
In many cases, that makes it worse.
If I’m undercut by 1c and that guy is also undercut by 1c, it’s annoying, but there’s no real threat to my current price level. Most likely, eventually the fluctuations in demand relative to supply will still cause my listing to sell. If I’m undercut by 300g, and then that guy is undercut by 1c, now there’s a real threat that price expectations could start to change.
In fact, if you look at this specific item, you can see that’s exactly what has happened to one seller. He posted at 2999g 99s 99c and was undercut to 2800g (presumably by SSalp) who was then undercut to 2500g (presumably by you) who was undercut by 1c. Now that a few transactions have gone through, people looking at past data expect that if they wait, they can probably snag one for 2500g, or at the worst 2800g.
That being said, it could be better to be undercut by a large margin in some situations. Specifically that situation is when the person who ultimately purchased the 2500g unit is someone who would refuse to purchase at 2800g. If that’s the case, then the person you undercut is better off.

It’s usually much better to get undercut by a significant portion though. The price on Dreamer for example is pretty stable on 2900g. Anything below that will be considered a ‘steal’ and it will sell fairly quickly. Even if the 2500g one will get undercut by 1c, both of those are still a good bargain and anyone that has been eyeing the Dreamer will know this. Needless to say, they both will sell quickly because of this.
1c is good for underbid
i always underbid when put stuff on market with 1c, always. :P what ?

issnt the amount of karma you get from doing low level fractals a lot higher, if you have a high fractal level?
this does explain why my saffron mango ice creams have been selling so well lately

Per wiki:
wiki.guildwars2.com(640 + 8 * Completed difficulty) * (Personal reward level – Completed difficulty) = Karma awarded
The (Personal reward level – Completed difficulty) factor is capped at 10.
All bonuses (from achievements, banners etc.) are applied to the Karma reward.
So, someone with personal reward level 30 completing level 20 will receive 8000 karma before boosters. Using the wiki figure of 95% max before achievement point boosts, and adding 5% there to make the math easy, that’s a 16000 karma reward for completion.
Personally I would rather be undercut by 1c than 300g. Effectively destroying values of things in a couple listings. Undercutting is pointless anyways, if you match the lowest seller the most recent listing will be sold first (same goes for orders).
You can also catch people offguard on buy orders if you match their price, instead of raising eachother 1c back and forth .

I think, not fully sure, that that isn’t true; I think the TP is FIFO, not LIFO.

This is indeed correct. Matching buy orders will do nothing for you. Their buy order will get filled first.

just in case there was still confusion. it is first in first out, 100% sure
my Dreamer sold 2750g. I was undercut twice before it sold, both by about 100g
looks like someone listed 2 of them at 2600 like 4 hours after mine sold. nicccccce. now now it’s down to 2500. yikes.
looking at spidy records, it looks like OP was undercut for a total of 3 hours then his sold 14 hours later. a happy ending.

Welcome to the rich ppl club. What will you be blowing your 2KG on? ;p
It probably would have been a better system if it worked more like real auctions, where the increment depends on the magnitude of the price. Perhaps restricting you from setting a new low price unless it is at least 0.5% below the existing one would’ve worked out well. Not much anyone can do about it these days, however. Glad your item sold.
I’ll just end up wasting it on trying to get more gold.
I could go either way on if there should be a percent minimum undercut or not. on one hand, it sucks when you get undercut by an insignificant amount. on the other, it sucks when you get undercut by a significant amount. It seems the only way to solve it would be to be able to buy any item listed, not just the lowest, and to have it sort the listed items not by price, but rather by time they were listed. More people would hate that system.

You should always find a buyer before you sell expensive items, come to an aggrement with someone, its always better than crossing your fingers, im not advising you to do it outside the TP though, you should always go through the TP

Finding a buyer who you can trust with such high sums is near impossible. I know I’ve been too greedy and listed too high but finding a trustful buyer probably takes longer than a few weeks. And yea it would’ve been better for me if i wasnt undercut by such high margins. The price has been pressed down to 2500g since which is absolutely horrible for me.
he wasn’t suggesting sending them the dreamer and hoping they send back 2500g. he was suggesting finding someone who wants to buy the dreamer but would rather pay 2700 instead of 2900, so you list it for 2700 knowing he will then buy it within minutes. oppose to listing for 2899 and hoping someone wants to buy it.

Yep.. when I made firebringer a few weeks ago, my 165g listing was the lowest. I was undercut by 9 people within hours, and 13 people within a day. The price plummeted to 120g when I finally decided to list it for 118g because I needed the gold. I haven’t checked within a few days, but I think someone is placing buy.offers of 109g and reselling them. It sucks when items become devalued that way.
