I’ve been thinking things have wound down myself, and was going to suggest there be a nudge to the next phase. So I’ll toss in a trio of things now, even if it’s not quite time yet:

1) Flexibility of use. This entails plenty of choice in features and appearance, and applicability of GH use to any size or focus of guild. Modularity might assist in this.

2) Robust permissions. Lots of tailoring as to who can do what with and to the hall. Allows for visitors.

3) Aesthetics. Very hard to objectively determine (feline filter, you silly thing you for not liking the correct version of rear-sess) (see (1) above for tailoring to taste) yet I would like to avoid subdivisions and grid lots for one thing. I continue to proselytize instancing but would like pleasingly designed neighborhoods more than singly instanced interiors. The halls should feel like part of Tyria/Mists, not glued on extras.

I don’t know if its been brought up already, but what about including resource nodes within the guild hall? Similar to the nodes in the home instance, but having 1 node of each type? (i.e 1 iron, 1 silver, 1 strawberry, 1 pumpkin, 1 soft wood, 1 hard wood, etc.) only once per day per account. This would be a guild upgrade item(s) that needed to be purchased and activated much like the other guild buffs (i.e guild increased MF, or reduced WP cost). Just a thought.

3: The ability for smaller guilds to enjoy guild halls.

This CDI has been amazing. I am ready for the next one though.

It has indeed been an amazing CDI. The team has reading through it diligently. I think we should move onto the top three priority items for everyone soon. Do we have any more discussion points or proposals before we move on folks?

Chris

P.S: Sorry I wasn’t on over the weekend, I just wasn’t able to get on.

  • 1.) Cosmetic only progression. Crafting involved in this process with scaling for guild sizes.
  • 2.) Basic services(Merchant, Armor repair etc.)are of minimal cost.
  • 3.) Guild Hall Customization to allow player agency for unique feeling guild space.

Beware the trap that is convenience. If guild halls aren’t convenient enough (offer enough services), once the novelty wears off people will stop using them.
If they are too convenient, prepare to have very empty cities, because people will spend all their time in their halls.

I hope any “services” you can buy for your hall are all choices, I feel that’s very important.
Want crafting stations in the hall? Okay, which ones? but you can only pick two of the eight that are available.
Do you want basic merchants OR banks OR trading post attendant?
Do you want specialty merchants(for example, merchant offering a particular food you can otherwise only get from a renown heart)? okay, which ONE?
Want an asuran gate to a city? okay, which ONE city gate do you want?

Always a choice, you can’t have everything because there needs to still be reason to go to the open world hubs.

My top 3 would probably be:

1) Small guilds being able to achieve the same benefits (guild hall wise) as bigger guilds

2) New, fun options for guild members to play together as part of the building of the hall – be it a ‘personal’ hall or for an alliance hall.

3) Ok, I can’t think of a third. Must ponder on this one…

Don’t look at me like that. Whatever you’ve heard, it’s probably not true.

  • Core functionality for guilds of all sizes with additional cosmetic options for large guilds (or as a long term goal for small guilds)
  • Instanced-only, or instanced with fixed, shared open-world entrances placed in logical locations (no floating guild halls above existing maps)
  • Options within guild halls for guild leaders/officers to recognize/reward members for their contributions either manually or automatically (such as “most influence purchased” or “most gold deposited into guild bank”)

1. Skill based advancement of your guildhall both on an individual and group level (Ability over all). No pointless grind or excessive gold sinks, the only question should be is your guild good enough to earn this item/structure/skin for the guildhall. I’ve talked extensively about how I’d love to see it implemented and I’d like to reiterate the two restrictions that I feel are completely required.
-No gem store involvement, there is no way you could implement it without screwing over skilled guilds. (The guild back-piece example I explained before)
-No pure gold/gold convertibility unlocks: Skill should be rewarded not farming or buying, this is also an extension of the no gem store too. (for reference: gold,gems,all trade-able collection tab resources and influence fall under this).

2. Large scale and customization, I’d like GW2 guildhalls to be the size of GW1 guildhalls at least (including land outside of formal fortifications) with at least some customization options.

3. Functionality Please allow guildhalls to have nearly all the conveniences of a Town and add some unique functionality (dungeon,special boss, arena type thing), contrary to the other people I dislike having to go to town due to load times and low quality conversation. I don’t feel people should be forced to go there just because someone wants their world to feel full.

Please don’t Limit by size of the guild in any manner other than minimum activity requirements (by that I mean a Dungeon requires 5 , future raids may need 15). Especially please don’t limit guildhall size in this manner.

  • new playable content should be also accessible to non-guild members. Not everyone likes to be part of a big guild, some enjoy playing with random people. Guild Missions currently alsmost get it right imho – but players who participate get no guild-currency out of it. I’m thinking in terms of guild-guesting. Become a temporary guild-member for a short time and earn your guild-merits etc.
  • Available to any guild-size – including 1man-guilds. I’m tinking of making content scaleable. The more members enter an area, the more parts are added to the guild-mission. Some missions might get easier this way, but the reward should mirror this difficulty.
  • scaling of requirements according to guildsize/average active members. I’m not happy that being in a 100man guild makes getting upgrades trivial. Everybody should have the feeling of meeningful contribution. Not necessarily for all the others but maybe for personal services in the guild.

1 The ability to build your own guild-hall so every guild hall will be different and represents what the guild stands for and gives guilds more a place in the world. This of-course tights into cosmetic progression and showing of your guild(-hall).

2 Stuff to do with the guild and goals to work towards. This is basically the cosmetic progression from 1 but made in a fun way that gets guilds to really have many activities to do. From building and decorating the guild-hall to unlocking the blue-prints to do so.
That of course also means no cash-shop involvement because that would undermine these aspects (grinding gold is not fun, buying with money is no gameplay and cash-shop items tent to be better then the ingame items taking away the value of the ingame items / blue-prints / unlocks).

3 A place where you can hang with your guild, do stuff, role play (what means items you can use like a chair you can sit on or a radio where can dance on the music) but is useful at the same time, providing things like guild-bank, or the guild-calendar and so on.. So just a place you want to hang out in.

The Statue Hall

I think that every guild hall should have a “Statue hall” where every member of the guild will be displayed with his/her character according to their ranks within the guild roster. The guild founder will be able to choose a pattern of how the Statue Hall should look like. Because the guild roster can expand, this Statue Hall will expand too.

The pedestal of the statue will display the Achievement points counter

Also, the pedestal will look different based on player’s activity in the number of hours spent in General PvE, PvP, WvW, Team Arena, Dungeons or Fractals can set up a different style of pedestal:
- Mostly PvE – a stune pedestal with a dragon around it (similar to the dragon on that outfit)
- Mostly PvP – a stone pedestal with an emblem similar to the Guild Finisher
- Mostly WvW – A stone pedestal with the design of a fortress
- Mostly Team Arena – a stone pedestal similar to the Coliseum in Rome
- Mostly Dungeons – a stone pedestal surrounded by a lot of skulls
- Mostly Fractals – a fractured stone pedestal emanating a dark smoke

The pedestal design will automatically change with the variation of number of hours played specifically

Note:
This system of number of hours is fair to veteran and new players alike because it makes a percentage of the time spent in the game and not the actual total amount of hours

The statues will be a full colored enlarged version of the character (similar to armor statues in GW1 Hall of monuments) only that they can have a set of preset postures . For example every 2500 achievement points the account could unlock a different posture
There should be 4 options what a player could have while clicking his/her own statue:
1. Select a character to Display (a drop down list with all characters in that account)
2. Select the posture (a drop down list with different unlocked postures)
3. Display currently online
4. Always display the last logged off character

See a picture for a real 500 Statues Hall
“Bai Dinh Pagoda of Vietnam has two longest corridors measuring 1.700 m in length, consisting 500 Arhat Statues. It was made in 2005 by 100 artisans and 700 workers. Each statue is made up of monolith in different shape and size measuring 2 to 2.5 m in height and an average weight of 2 to 2.5 tons.”

Okay, here’s my top three:

1. The Guild Hall system needs to be built in such a way as to be friendly to small guilds, have long term decorative goals to be earned by large guilds, and be adjustable/adaptable to reasonable personal housing. Only by covering all three can you really make sure that everyone has something to work towards.

2. Nothing is locked behind Guild Halls. If people don’t want to mess with a Guild Hall, they shouldn’t feel pushed into it to gain access to anything else. If they are, it becomes preparing to have fun rather than actually having fun.

3. Expanding the lists of decorative options should involve a wide variety of approaches. Don’t lock them all behind just one thing, like PvP or dungeons. Scatter them around, and make sure every game mode can earn them.

Unofficial #4. I have to say it again, let us adjust the color and levels of the lighting in our guild halls! Nothing changes the feel of a room like being able to mess with the lights, it may be the single most powerful decorative tool that we could be given.

Sarcasm, delivered with a

1) Having a GH that is flexible enough to allow RP and show the guild’s creativity.

2) The progression of the GH is challenging for all types of guilds without leaving the small ones aside.

3) The hall being a catalyst for new guild content involving more than 5 players.

I just though of something that could be cool:

Have characters of players who are offline, who are representing the guild, appear as NPCs in the less trafficked parts of the guild hall.

That way we can show off our characters and get to see who else is in our guild, even if we don’t catch them online. It would also add an extra level of customization that would make it so that no two guild halls are identical.

Allowing players to select what each character says when interacted with, from a predetermined list, would further enhance the immersion and uniqueness. Alternatively, this could be automatically decided by each character’s personality.

1. Noob Training i would love for there to be pve training dummies/golems like in HotM. and teachable mock events or even actual events. i would like for there to be a variety of objects to interact with like bundles and environment weapons. it would be SO AMAZING if we could spawn specific dungeon bosses or wvw keep lords etc, for practice! hell even a small jumping puzzle would be a good teaching aid.

2. cosmetics it would be great for the LS to have cosmetic effects on the guild hall to show that the guild was active at that time.
i would love to be able to dedicate cool weapon skins as cosmetics. an example being a pair of crystal guardians mounted on the wall in an ‘X’ formation.
it would be great if you could tell a wvw guild’s hall from a pve guilds hall just by looking at them.
npc skins! what if i want to get repairs a grawl, buy weapons from a largos, and pick up some thermocatalytic reagents from a golemite? if my guild is active enough, maybe it should be possible. also critters, friendly ambients, and some red/yellow mobs to kill aimlessly or teach noobs with.

3. services this is the meat and potatoes of any player hub. i imagine acquiring npcs for services in the guild hall by doing a new type of guild mission that would unlock that npc’s service or appearance for your guild hall. i would be fairly disappointing if unlocking npcs was just a matter of merits and influence and would do nothing to promote guild cooperation. the more rare or interesting the service, the harder it should be to acquire or even keep (what if they want a salary?)
buff station. a place in the guild hall for guild banners, sharpening stone stations, and feasts. maybe a cost to extend the duration of those objects for refreshing the associated buffs.
a place to view past cutscenes! maybe like the pool in the HoM GW1 but have it list past cut scenes for view. this would be a great way to teach people lore.
portals! plz dont make me waypoint to/from my guild hall. plz give it a button in the guild menu like heart of the mists has.

a few words i honestly dont think guild halls should be for small guilds. it should be an incentive for small guilds to grow and organize(like guild trove before inflation). it should be a status symbol to large and medium guilds and incentivize those guilds to remain active or be locked out of the guild hall. i would charge merits and influence as a form of rent.
i dont want guild halls to be the new LA, i wouldnt mind if guild halls became the new HotM. i always feel bad for running through heart of the mists while pursuing pve objectives. i feel like im being rude to pvp by using its hub for non pvp stuff. i would like there to still be plenty of reason to hit up LA or the other capitals but feel like i have a sanctuary to pop into when map chat starts getting to me. so plz no mystic forge in the guild hall, no racial armor/weapon npcs and stuff like that. leave us a reason to make the cities feel populated.

1. A sense of progression. A WvW guild gaining more perks for fighting in WvW, while a PvE guild would gain more perks in PvE.

2. More Noticibilty (my own word, too bad). In other words, if a guild team wins a tournament in spvp, its announced across server. If a guild defeats a tough boss for a mission, its announced, similar to the hall of heroes announcements in gw1.

3. Consumption of materials or donations of items to unlock guild only recipes. Example: donate so many armor and other random mats to unlock a new skin recipe for the person to craft (similar to warframe’s dojo research facilities).

1.) GvG. I know that’s a different CDI, but if I’m listing the Top 3 most important things that I need to see in a Guild Hall, this is easily #1.

2.) WvW Achievements Display. It would really be a huge turnaround for the WvW section of the game if there were some sort of WvW guild achievements that could be displayed in the Guild Halls, like a statue that gets bigger with every 100 kills by guildies who are repping, or maybe based on the amount of Guild Influence earned in WvW, although Influence wouldn’t necessarily be optimal since it would be only based on how many events were completed.

3.) 24/7 Buffs, Food/Feasts, & Vendors Hopefully, accessing the Guild Halls would be easy to do from anywhere in the GW2 world, in which case, it would be great to be able to just spend Influence or some other currency to spawn Banners (or statues, or whatever) that last 24-hours, giving buffs that could be easily picked up before heading out into the world. It would also be a HUGE benefit to guilds if a crafted Feast could last longer than 5 minutes, but only if dropped in the Guild Halls. Also, Merchants, Guild Vendors, Laurel Vendors, etc; when you add these 3 things together, you can easily make the Guild Halls an important, central location for all guildies to gather.

This is not an easy one to come up with a top 3 for. Last one was more of a feature request – here a lot of the features are logically derived from higher-level concepts that may be implemented, e.g. progression mechanics will usually entail providing merchants.

So to make it easier, I’ll just give a top 3 of what I’d like guild halls to do:

1. Provide access, whether on the same map or somewhere else, to GvG play.
2. Provide a staging post for guilds to gather and set up (gear, builds or whatever) for any kind of content.
3. Provide a progression system for guilds to enjoy upgrading their hall, but with a low or no entry barrier.

Top three priorities?

Far in first:

1. Everyone who wants a hall, can have a hall and not be penalized over the size of the guild.

2. The Hall serves a purpose other than a replacement hub for activities (i.e. “Lion’s Arch and the main cities are dead now, nobody goes there to do anything.”)

3. There’s enough customization of appearances and such to let every guild feel it’s their home, rather than just a visual representation of a menu system.

(Push comes to shove, I’d rather push trophies and acknowledgement of achievements/completion to a “player housing” thing.)

1. the avatar customization part is confusing do you mean that you want the guild hall to show off how my character looks or do you want my achievements and prowess to affect how the guild hall looks and give me more character customization options?

2. add more guild missions involving the hall. add some events to the hall itself. make guild hall progression tied to all aspects of the game in some way or another down to crabtoss and the other activities.

3. this one is a little icky to me. with ability to freely switch between guilds, its not like people who are in a small guild are stuck there. should my bank guild really have its own hall? maybe you could introduce guild alliances and make halls sharable. i just dont like the idea of a giant guild hall with little to no unlocks and little to no reason to go there, or a tiny unupgraded shack with little to no reason to go there. or a hall with most basic amenities from the start with no real reason to upgrade. none of these sounds exciting.

3. Access to and from the Guild Hall from the Guild UI.

Top 3 for me :
1. The Guild Hall plays a part in delivering new content to current game modes
For instance, it could allow to host GvG matches for PvP and allow deployment of Airships or Asura Gates to support a controlled WvW fort or to enable a PvE event for everyone on the map.
Yeah, my ideal hall is a floating Mists Castle WITH an Airship dock.

2. The Guild Hall gives a guild goals beyond building the hall and getting all upgrades.
I want our hall to be an incentive to play more as a guild, a common goal. Even if it is simply by having some of it’s features be temporary, like hiring guards or crafting NPCs. The Influence system lets player contribute to guilds but, a lot of guilds have reached the cap; let’s avoid simply making another, higher, cap.

3.Big or small guild, customize your Hall YOUR way.
On one hand, large guilds have hoarded Influence and Merits for something like halls for a long time and it would be like a slap in the face to force other currencies on them. On the other, small guilds deserve to express themselves as much as large ones. Much like can gain experience any way you play the game, make it possible to build and customize the Hall in multiple ways.
Want an ice statue in your hall? Pay Influence (and wait) to commission a sculptor, buy parts of an artifact that spawns one using Honor of the Waves tokens or find the artifact parts from beating the Claw of Jormag, the Frozen Maw or Frostreach defenders in Edge of the Mists. Everyone needs to find THEIR way to make their home.

  2. Centrality: Make the guild hall the center of guild activities, tying in a lot of existing functions.
  3. Connection: Bridge the introduction of guild halls in with the Living Story, bring in the Zaishen to help organize construction (and competition), and regardless of whether halls are instanced or public, make sure they somehow feel like they actually belong in the world, wherever they are.

2. Upgrades obtainable through Guild activities, not some form of currency, either new or old, or maybe a combination of activity and old currency. Even the playing field for new and old guilds

Proposal Overview
This is an idea for just the initial setup of the Guild Hall. I was trying to help promote Guild unity and co-operation with this proposal.

Goal of proposal
An initial way to set up the Guild Hall starting from the plot to the materials needed to start building stages.

Proposal Functionality
First we could start off with a basic plot of land whether it would be ingame or instanced it doesn’t matter to me.

Now, in order to build the Guild Hall, materials must be gathered to make the walls and external structure (these materials cannot be bought from The Black Lion Trading Company apart from maybe the blueprints). To get the materials from point A to point B, they must be transported by Dolyak (spawned from a tonic of some sort) to your destination. Along your travels there will be waves of thieves and mobs attacking your convoy trying to steal your materials. The amount of guild members defending the convoy and/or the amount of Dolyak’s will determine how many thieves and mobs will spawn per wave. The more members/Dolyak’s the harder it gets. This is where the guild works as a team to defend the Dolyak’s and safely get the goods to your plot. If the Dolyak’s die the materials are scattered on the ground but not entirely lost. You have a second chance to respawn another Dolyak (after a cooldown), pick up the dropped materials and continue your journey to the Guild Hall site.

During this you cannot waypoint from point to point. You must travel to map portals to get to the next map and so forth till you reach point B.

As for the Dolyak’s, they should be guided by a guild member. This way the convoy could take its own route rather than it being pre-determined routes, as pre-determined could lead you into and event that would be better off avoiding.

For smaller guilds something could be added where they can activate NPC’s such as guild mercenaries/soldiers to help defend the convoy. But to be eligible for these your guild roster must be under a certain amount or have a guild ranking system, rank 1 being the lowest to rank 4 being highest and each rank gives certain privileges/restrictions.
For example:

GUILD HALL RANKING SYSTEM
Rank 1
Roster = 1-100
Dolyaks = 4
Mercenaries = Champion
Respawn Time = TBD

Rank 2
Roster = 101-200
Dolyaks = 5
Mercenaries = Elite
Respawn Time = TBD

Rank 3
Roster = 201-300
Dolyaks = 6
Mercenaries = Veteran
Respawn Time = TBD

Rank 4
Roster = 301-400
Dolyaks = 7
Mercenaries = None
Respawn Time = N/A

Once you successfully defend your convoy and reach your destination you are then ported to your Guild Hall instance where construction can commence.

Your basic Guild Hall will start off with using basic materials such as copper or stone for the walls, wood for furniture and Hall structure, cotton for interior decorating. Then as you progress you can add higher level type materials and start to personalise your Guild Hall to how the guild likes it.

Advantages/Disadvantages:
For this to succeed you would certainly need guild unity and co-operation. Whether your guild is rank 1 or rank 4, this concept can be achievable.
If anyone can think of any disadvantages with this please let me know…

Ok cool let’s start it of then Donari:

Note these are my personal top three priorities:

1: The ability for guild members to be able to show of their prowess and achievements through Guild Halls and their own avatar customization.
2: The ability for players to work together in a fun way to build something different and exciting.
3: The ability for smaller guilds to enjoy guild halls.

Top 3 priorities:

1: Ongoing Customization (modular design recommended for this)- Include ways for each guild hall to look quite different, with additions to the hall over time possible to grow its size/add new rooms and/or floors. Each guild hall not only looks different, but expands and changes over time to keep its unique identity; Include options so that each piece/room added can look different from the “same” type of room added by another guild hall, so “end level” guild halls do not just look at the same with all the same rooms/decorations in the same places, etc. Ideally new kinds of rooms & decorations are added over time, so players have a sense of more to do as the game goes forward, rather than “our guild hall is all finished, nothing more to change here.”

2: Link to Player Housing/guild member rooms – Modular design could allow for instanced housing linked to the guild hall, as well as individual rooms for each guild member which also could be instanced. Housing linked to the hall allows something unique from each player to be attached to the hall without being dependent upon the guild (if you leave the guild, you keep your house, it just gets “linked” to whatever other guild(s) a player joins.

Relatedly, pre-release developer statement that “player housing and guild halls” would be part of the game & released together would be nice to see fullfilled

3: Additions not be directly limited by size of guild: Allow additions to be achieved over time by any size of guild. Large guilds may build certain features faster due to combined effort, and may well have more features built up than a smaller guild again due to combined efforts. But a small guild should be able to build the same things with either greater effort by members (to make up for smaller numbers, in effect) or over time. “Guild mission” activities are an example of how not to design guild hall improvements, as those were set up in such as way as to more or less exclude smaller guilds, whereas guild influence system has allowed smaller guilds to “build up” their guild features over time, and IMO serves as a superior model in terms of guild hall development.

My Top 3

1. an incentive for guild members to meet up and work together towards a common goal

2. a space where you can express some individual creativity (be it player housing or a space where members are free to customize)

3. Functional – progressing and expanding the guild hall would allow players access to anything they need (crafting, bank, perhaps mystic forge etc…)

1. The guild hall needs to be grand and beautiful. If anybody looks at it and says “that’s it? Really?” you’ve failed. They should be spectacles.

2. They should be jam-packed with features. Crafting, merchants, room related to guild missions, GvG, in-guild PvP arena (You enter the room, select a side to be on, and you can fight guildies ), guild leaderboard (for AP pts, fractal rank, wvw rank, etc), portals to other areas, maybe even tutorials.

3. Expandable. Basic features should be available right away, but guilds should be able to purchase things in order to expand the hall. People love progression.

I’m putting a #4, to heck with your Top 3 system :P

4. Instanced. If we want these anytime in the next calendar year, they have to be instanced. Some may not like it, but I imagine adapting the game to squeeze guild halls into the open world would be incredibly difficult and would upwards of 2 years or more to implement.

Top three priorities for me after reading alot of the suggested ideas.

1: Guild identity – Being able to show off, being able to be recognizable, to make a difference in the game.
2: Guild diversity – accounting for different guilds wanting a different kind of guild hall.
3: Customizability – and/or impactful choices, maybe even so it excludes other options, making the guild have an identity while taking into account the diversity of guilds. Maybe a trait-like tree system that includes customizability identity and diversity while enhancing the world, or a potential unlock system so guilds can pick what they want while not being able to show all the options they have available.

I often found that most guild Halls for large guilds all look similar to eachother, which is fine, but to me an interesting idea is that guild halls could go into multiple directions with multiple routes towards an endpoint.

To explain a little bit more (I drew it like a tree on paper but that doesn’t work in a forum obviously) Most of the things at the very end are just ideas, ofcourse some of those are better than others and some are just broken. I’m just brainstorming those, so please take that into account when you say “oh but that would totally break the game” and think about the idea as a whole. (And possibly not as it’s magnitude as I made the tree extremely big with all the ideas I could come up with now XD)

Note: With Aestetics, I basically mean anything from typical architecture, to certain buildings, to the whole airship locking to a certain location, just so it gets the feel of that certain options. You could start out with a basic guild hall which you then upgrade into a specific section, or you unlock a specific section that encompasses that specific feel for that. Could be open or instanced.

1. It has to be a place guildies will want to go every day. It can’t be something you just visit once a month just to see it.

2. It should be largely customizable or at least have multiple themes. For example if they end up being airships, we should not be limited to pact/aetherblade style airships.

3. And yes, I have a small guild and still want to enjoy it.

1. The Guild Hall plays a part in delivering new content to current game modes

2. The Guild Hall gives a guild goals beyond building the hall and getting all upgrades.

3.Big or small guild, customize your Hall YOUR way.

I can get behind this one adding open world alliance pvp to #1

OK…Top 3

1. Guild Halls available to Guilds of all Sizes with a variety of themes, and the ability to acquire ‘some’ basic services(i.e. Merchant, Guild Storage, Bank Access(crafting stations belong in cities), etc.) via a ‘currency’ with reasonable cost so all Guilds can access them. Designed like GW1 Halls with indoor and outdoor areas. Always able to add new Themes.

2. Customizable/Upgradeable to make your Guild Hall unique. Done so via a system of achievements(or goals/quests/rewards) and scaled so that all are available to all sizes of Guilds, but may take more time to “work up to” for smaller vs larger Guilds. Examples: Unlocking extra rooms(i.e Trophy Room(showcasing Living World achievements), Training Ground(dummies/golems, 1v1 sparring), Guild Arena(large enough to do 15 v 15 GvG(see #3 below)), “War Room”(Showing WvW/PvP/eventually GvG accomplishments), Forge Room(for Guild Armorer and Guild Weapon-smith), a 1/ week Champ Challenge(unlocked and must be started by an officer, i.e. a Champ Icebrood Goliath in a ‘Shiverpeaks’ themed Hall in an outdoor area of the Guild Hall), Custom Banners, Guild Hall Games(Shooting Gallery, Mini Pet Combat Arena, etc.), Tavern(Guild Bar Brawl), etc. Have a few of these to start and can always add more in to keep it a living place constantly able to grow/improve.

3. G v G skirmishes/strategy meetings. Inviting other guilds to come skirmish/practice to promote inter-guild communication and socialization and/or to work on strategies for WvW.

Hope that’s not too involved, #2 got kinda long. I think I was just more ‘long-winded’ about pretty much the same things Chris listed, lol. This whole CDI is making me hopeful about GHs and GvG making their way into our GW2 world. Thanks Chris and Jon for starting it up.

Title: Guild Halls & Guild vs. Guild

In the 6+ years that we, ‘Pious Knights’, were established in GW1, nary once did we partake of the GvG feature. So for us Guild Halls had absolutely no requirement for GvG. I would hope we would not hold Halls to incorporate GvG.

Same here. I would be pleased to have the original (GW) concept of halls put into gw2. I like shiny stuff, but i really don’t see a need to customize them all that much. I know, boring stuff.

I pretty much sit on the fence regarding the need for GHs, but if I was pushed for priorities, I’d say I’d gel with what Chris listed. In any other game, I think the extra game modes would be interesting, but outside of dungeons, SAB and the mini games, I prefer the whole “keep it in the open world” system the game has. It’s not unique, but GW2 does a very good job of getting it right as far as I’m concerned.

(GVG an obvious exception ofc. I don’t pvp or care about GVG, but this would work best using a similar system to GW1.)
